For those who watched 'Jirisan' is this similar to it in terms of how everyone was hyped to watch in the beginning,…
Actually, for me, I had little expectations at the start of the drama, and this drama has greatly exceeded my expectations by how realistic it is. I’m surprised at comments saying that they are disappointed with the trajectory of the drama, cause if you’re a kdrama romcom addict, you’ll realize that every Korean romcom has a few episodes dedicated to Angst and this drama is no exception. The current misunderstanding shows how little both lovers know about each other before jumping into a relationship. She didn’t know him well enough to avoid inviting his dad to the hospital. They are both flawed individual like everyone else, but with a lot of openness and communication, I believe they can overcome their differences. No relationship can survive without putting in the work, and I’m really invested in their journey on how they become a solid unit.

One of the things that impressed me about this drama, which is completely unexpected, is Ha Kyung and Ki Joon’s relationship. Yes, he’s a douchebag who cheated on her and wrecked her wedding, and by all accounts, they shouldn’t even remain on speaking terms….. Yet, here they are, having honest heart to heart discussions, about their current lovers, past mistakes they made in their relationship and sharing relationship woes and future concerns. It shows that they really do care about each other, and that they forged a bond that goes way past romantic relationships and can overcome betrayal, heartbreak, anger and hurt. I am really impressed by how realistic and non clichéd this drama is. And I find myself rooting for both couples despite their inauspicious beginnings due to the sheer effort it is taking them to understand themselves and their partners and make their current relationship work.

Min woo like how u can get better person ha ri....shit o can't just shit & watch , let's try to break their relationship..
Min Woo is acting like a dog in the manger. Wasn’t interested in Hari when she was single and available, but is barking like a jealous dog now that she has an admirer. Dude, you forgetting you got a girlfriend? No wonder his girlfriend hates Hari’s guts!

my take on noh taenam: i'm not defending him bc he's mad (like his mum) as well as selfish but at least we've…
I agree, he’s a very conflicted character, a troubled soul. And he’s just a foil for his mother, no wonder he why he wanted to avoid the military at all costs. Exposing his inadequacies in front of the military was a shitty thing to do. My guess is that he’d rather go to jail than expose his medical condition to the entire army.

I just have to put this here: I love Jo Bo Ah
Yes, she’s insanely good in this drama. Especially in the emotional and fight scenes. Her expressions are always on point.

Seriously enjoying both couples and love their dynamics. But I kind of wish the drama would show us more about the bromance between best friends Tae Mu and Sung Hoon. I like how Sunghoon sticks up for his buddy and doesn’t allow even his girlfriend to badmouth his boss; and I felt Tae mu’s hurt that Sunghoon kept the news that he was dating Yeongseo from him. Wonder what the history is between Sunghoon and the Kang family as even grandpa is quite fond of him?

Ratings for this drama should be higher. It’s a pity crime dramas don’t attract huge audiences like romcoms or historical dramas. Still this drama is one of a kind with top notch acting and deserves more and higher ratings. I almost didn’t watch this, but now I’m so glad I did!

What if the viewer likes both equally? Why pit one drama against the other? They’re not even the same genre.

Mmmm…, I agree with you to an extent, but I’m excited that he’s a morally gray character instead of a naive goody two shoes. Antiheroes are gaining ground in Kdramas, and I for one am glad of it, because it leads to a more interesting and compelling plot. He’s neither good nor bad, as evidenced at how he turned against the corrupt doctor during the malpractice suit. No human being is perfect and I’m glad the drama is capturing the flaws of both the ML & FL; who sometimes achieves their goals by questionable means, and even showing a pathetic, villain with mommy issues. I am currently very invested in the drama. Hope it keeps up its momentum and doesn’t flounder in the middle as so many dramas tend to go. That being said, I do hope the rapists and their whole crew gets their just deserts and wind up in jail: civilian or military. I suspect mama’s boy will end up as collateral damage for his crazy momma.

Title The Autumn Ballad Spoiler
There's just so much wrong with that final twist. Must be up there as the worst kind of filler ever. The worst…
I’ve given this a lot of thought and the conclusion I came up with is that the only reason a woman will kill her husband and father of her child for another woman is if she and the other woman were in love, or lovers. Maybe she never really loved or cared for Liang Yi’s dad - those days arranged marriages were common - and I bet lesbian relationships were closet. That’s the one reason that would explain the timing of Liang Yi’s mom’s suicide after struggling with guilt for so long; and explain why she would murder her husband, for a non relative.

Oh! I agree that Love and Destiny had a satisfactory conclusion, and when I think of it… Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms did as well, so I can add those to my list.

Mmmmm The ending of the Long Ballad could be interpreted as HEA but honestly, was ambiguous at best, and lowered the rewatch value for me. Can’t believe that after rooting for the main couple for all those episodes, only for them to part at the end under the guise of ‘I’ve got things to do, but you will always be special to me’. Thankfully the secon couple stole the day! I felt quite cheated, so for me it was unsatisfactory. The Rise of the Phoenixes is a quality drama, quite fast paced with excellent acting and made me fall in love with Chen Kun and NiNi, and it’s quite long, but I haven’t watched the King’s Woman. I like Dilraba, so I may check it out one day.

Title The Autumn Ballad Spoiler
C-dramas generally have the shittiest endings and this drama is no exception. Yes it’s a HEA, but a very disappointing one. Why shoehorn a conflict at the 11th hour instead of showing the main couple holding hands and walking off into the sunset?. Or even a time lapse and of them with a growing family with loving grandma in the background.? There are myriad of ways they could have concluded this sensibly. And Qiu Min ending up with Qiu Xuan doesn’t count as a happy ending. I can think of only one historical C-drama with a comprehensible and satisfying conclusion, and that is Love and Redemption. And maybe, Goodbye My Princess (though it was tragic) Does anyone know of any other historical C-dramas with a satisfying conclusion?

Both her and their daughter were cold and bitchy towards him and then they were surprised that he felt uncomfortable…
@XXI I see your points and these are my thoughts as well. But in their defense, I think Forecaster Um is the type of man to run away from conflicts at home and uses work as an excuse to stay away. In my twenty plus years of working, I have seen many people linger at work when it is time to go home, simply because they do not want to deal with stuff at home. Him choosing to rough it outside, instead of persevering with his family and letting them get used to his being home shows me that it has been going on for years! And his boss knows it too, which is why he keeps having those talks with him. If he is never around his wife or daughter, how does he expect to build a relationship with them? And I find it impossible to believe that he didn’t have vacation times over the years where he could visit his family and spend time with them, or have them visit him in his remote areas while they were on vacation. Spending time with family is a matter of priorities not convenience!
