I finished the drama a while ago and I can’t seem to move out of this withdrawal funk. But after going back through these comments, I feel a lot better now knowing I’m not alone <3. I’m just forever grateful I got to see these beautiful visual scenes that keep replaying over and over in my head. I’m currently watching Go into Your Heart and it’s so funny seeing a lot of the same cast playing totally different characters. But tbh, it’s not really helping me move on from the TSL universe. It was just so well executed in all categories. this missing them is realll bad haha
This is the trailer that someone posted a few weeks ago on youtube! But on the credits at the end of the clip it says Guo Jun Chen plays Ah Zheng and Xie Cheng Ze plays Zuo Lin so it’s switched.
Yo so this xianxia drama, I was so deeply invested in this cast and story, it was that feeling of falling head over heels for someone, but like for every single character. Like we’ve all seen pure, unconditional, I-would-die-for-you love before in dramas, but to be able to see that pure love between the sisters, the mother and sons, the in-laws, Man and Tan and beast prince, and in 3 of the cutest couples, like it was all just pure love. No conditions. Just, I will lay down my life for you over and over again just because you are you, and I love you. And THEN ep33… and THEN the ending. like WHAT? I feel a tiny bit traumatized because all they wanted was a peaceful life. Like that was literally all they wanted? And because I was so invested in them for the past 2 weeks, that’s all I wanted for them too. So to leave me with just hopeful optimism that these two sisters with hearts of gold will “hopefully” be reborn somehow but not let me sleep in peace seeing them be reborn..I’m just ugh. But other than those last 5 episodes betraying my false delusions of closure in peace (in hindsight, i should have prepared myself after man’s farewell but I was in denial) and other than coriander girl’s last minute insanity, I really enjoyed this drama. The cast was really well chosen and their acting skills kept impressing me over and over esp in the scenes between the sisters. I shall be rewatching as I wait for spotify to upload the ost.
Honestly I started this because I intrigued by the switching of faces, but the actual story was really entertaining and nicely paced. I’m sure this story has been told before in other ways, but for some reason I kept getting surprised at every single plot twist and the script wasn’t awkward at any point. There were lines in the script that I felt were so cleverly weaved in and the cast did a good job in general in delivering these lines and developing their characters respectively. The costumes and set designs were beautiful and the little details of the cast’s actions like filling of tea cups to the brim were nice plot pushers and expanded the big picture. In shorter dramas like this, they sometimes leave out so many questions unanswered leaving much to be desired, but I was happy with the way this ended although I’m sure there’s plenty of plot holes that left the viewers saying, “what?” haha.
I’ll keep saying this over and over again, but we did not deserve that scene on the bridge with the ember firework reflections on the water and their matching blue hanboks. Everything was so gorgeous and meticulously shot just in that scene. And you appreciate it even more knowing it was filmed in the dead of winter, so cold you could see their breath in the air and the smoke coming from the fireworks all around them like a cloud. We just didn’t deserve it and that’s that. So thank you to the crew for blowing my mind!
Bro I can’t explain how flabbergasted I was after the storyline got so CRAZY ADDICTING after ep 21. Like up…
Also I was laughing this morning thinking about how the female second lead from S1 didn’t technically come into the story until 2019. So in the S2 timeline, by the time she would have come in, Fang Leng and Xiao Qi would have already been married and Fang Lie is together with Xiao Bu Poor girl was booted out of the story completely! Bwahahaha The screenwriters do have a way of making us feel so bad for the second leads. After Shinyi FINALLY recognizes that he was in love with Xiao Qi this whole time (doing all the wrong things) his confession to her was actually genuine and sincere. Plus he’s so cute I really felt for him!
Bro I can’t explain how flabbergasted I was after the storyline got so CRAZY ADDICTING after ep 21. Like up until then, it’s basically season 1. But after ep 21, Shinyi decides to go a little psycho and obsessive, and the plot LITERALLY thickens and I was not expecting that ahahaha. MGIAA will always have a special place in my heart and I’m so happy they did s2 so well! It answered my curious questions from S1 about her original genetic match and somehow made us love Xiaobu even more! Haha And I loved how it came full circle back to the scene and year where they met the very first time even in the same outfits. The fashion and color scheme got me intrigued in the first season and S2 did not fail to match the same standards! I have to agree with previous comments that a spinoff miniseries about Fang Lie and Xiaobu would be so cute. They’re literally the Little mermaid story and I would enjoy seeing how they work together to keep her bodyheat under control while falling in love:) The whole cast and staff did an amazing job so thank you for letting me start off 2023 with warm fluffy MGIAA feelings! also i love you Wan Peng! Hehe can’t wait for sword & fairy!
YEE GET IT ELEANOR!!! sidenote: i’ve seen the ML actor as an annoying second lead borderline villain so many times. I can def imagine him as a villain of a novel ahah. I’m excited to see this!!
Is there any love triangle or annoying second leads. When does the leads get together ?
no real love triangles but yes there is one annoying second lead but they deal with her the same episode the leads officially get together (i think around episode 22?) honestly, the romance wasn't dragged out because the main leads were pretty focused on their sport and helped support each other so their relationship wasn't rushed and was so sweet and wholesome) Edit: yeah i went back and it’s episode 22 not 14, my bad. I personally don’t consider the second leads as part of a love triangle/square because it’s pretty clear throughout the whole show they’re in a one sided interest. I see love triangles as the girl deciding between two men or vice versa with a guy and 2 girls. Here, she only respected the coach versus actually falling in love with the main lead. She verbally clarifies this multiple times in different episodes. Neither SLs gained that kind of interest in the MLs so I see them more as a threat to the OTP than actually part of it. But that’s just how I view it and I know others have their own opinions.
