My mini theory for the ending is that after surviving from the gun shot (probably a bullet proof vest) he decided to secretly find the original opium sources to get rid of them and that’s why their town has been experiencing peace for the past 4 years. He’s only able to come back because he finished his solo mission. I love happy endings. :)

OMG THIS LITERALLY JUST HAPPENED TO ME A FEW MINUTES AGO. I’m so sad I got invested thinking she was going to fall in love with Brother xiu but it turns out he’s just the second lead? :( I guess I’ll have to watch the whole thing to find out. I feel strangely comforted that i’m not the only one who experienced this. I feel scammed by youtube.

Just finished rewatching this for the 5th time. I literally only have a subscription to iQIYI just to rewatch Crush. A total masterpiece. The main cast’s sincere emotions portrayed so perfectly that they really brought the novel’s characters alive. And the OST so gorgeous and alluring which matched the peaceful and healing themed cinematography with a lovely rainy day color palette . There were scenes where they were just speaking with their eyes and after reading the novel, and rewatching the drama, it was like another experience because the actors really portrayed the inner dialogue of their thoughts so skillfully.
