This was actually the second Taiwanese drama that I've tried and I LOVED THIS ONE SO MUCH. I guess I haven't taken enough time to look into all the dramas they offer! Do any of you have any other suggestions for Taiwanese dramas?
The OST and the acting from the main cast was top quality. Even though the story switches back and forth between reality and the novel world, it does finally tie all back together nicely around 2/3 in the drama so just get through the first episode because it does start a little slow as they are building the foundation of the crisis in the real world. It really picks up in the second episode and I was hooked by then. By the time I realized I was in love with the second lead Qingfeng, i was so deeply invested in the story it was way too late to back out. The script was really clever. I highly recommend this drama if not just for the impressive acting from all the cast!
My friend, Do yourself a favor: watch and finish this drama. I haven’t laughed so hard at a costume drama since Zu Rui’s facial expressions in Romance of Tiger and Rose (yeah that wasn’t that long ago but i laughed like that in every single episode of A Girl Like Me). Ahaha. Like what the other comments have said, the Ban family forced me to put this drama down as a treasure to rewatch. They were so loveable and hilarious. The two main leads are so visually beautiful they actually look like they came out of the original novel. And the FL’s confidence and devotion to her family made her shine in my eyes in comparison to any other FL i’ve seen. PLUS LIKE COME ON, have you seen the main female actress lead a whole army as their general so gracefully like Guan Xiaotong did in this drama?? I personally haven’t so it was super refreshing and inspiring to see her rise to that position (literally an official princess to an official general). LIKE COME ON!!!
Fun movie but i will have to watch again because i feel like i missed a lot of storyline because there was so much going on in each scene! And the whole time i kept thinking thank God they all had ear translators and I can’t wait until we reach that technology! ? Also LOL at the Kim Hyanggi cameo I was screaming at the tv ahah
Apparently this was made back in 2014 but it doesn’t look like it. Everything from acting to set was impressive. Great short empowering story with a slightly abrupt ending. Im glad they shared this movie with us!
out of all the characters that EleanorLee has acted as, this is by far one of my favorites. I don’t know why, but her intelligence and techy cleverness like how she was able to open that booby trap treasure box or solve the labyrinth prison was so refreshing to me. And she was so lovable. It was a ride but i enjoyed this drama. Mostly for the gorgeous costumes, set designs (i would literally pause the video and stare with my jaw dropped open whenever they were in their secret lair. It was so beautiful.) and the martial arts made it so fun especially with the cool props they got to use. Obviously they really paid attention to image detail. So fun and pretty.

honestly, the two main actors (wan peng and riley wang) were a match made in heaven. they just suit each other really well. a fun light watch about pursuing your dreams and being thankful for the people who help you get to where you are now.
