Thinking about watching this. How does this compare with to The Guest? Which one's better?
Oof no there isn’t. Not even a smidgen, given their collective shared history. More found family/sibling-esque. It’s excellent without it though, fitting for the story

I watched The Guest when it came out in 2018. Just finished Revenant. Both hit you in the feels. The characters and the concepts of horror and possession and a main ghost killing people/found family with mystery/detective spin may make them seem similar, but I would say they’re different. Both great in their own. Both worth their flowers. Give them both a try, you won’t regret. I regret watching them cause now I can’t watch them for the first time again. Dramas these recent years get to become lacking but these hold up their genre.
MDL ratings back at it again being a tad mediocre. If you're on the fence, watch this drama. I do agree if you aren't invested, an episode or two might feel draggy, but it is by no means boring. A lot of the critique about the lovey dovey couple to twists and turns is the whole point of the drama (being fooled just as Hye Joo was with NJD being such an amazing husband and the deep and earnest love they have for one another). It does not lose narrative consistency nor does it become nonsensical. The characters are developed, you understand motives and the title of the series makes sense by the time you get to the end. It was heart-wrenchingly beautiful.
As someone who personally kept skipping on watching the drama since it came out, even as an avid drama watcher, I don't regret watching it at all. I honestly feel it was a lovely and unfortunately underappreciated series.
I’m not finished because it got so boring and random with no signs of the main character in sight, obviously Eun Yoo became the lead for this season with her painfully irksome soldier man following her everywhere, but y’all what is with the unnecessary nudity?? It feels exploitative and a bit weird honestly (in a perverted way not an uncomfortable with nudity way). I don’t know, maybe when I’m bored I’ll return to it. It feels like a different series with them throwing new characters at the drawing board and hoping they stick, I can’t with this.
6 episodes was a pro and a con. I wish they’d fleshed out the character back stories a little more than just exposition or short flashbacks. It felt a little lacking in that regard and limited how much one could relate or understand the character motivations. Otherwise a ‘feel-good’ family themed mystery drama. As a fan of thriller/mystery/suspense it’s a worthwhile watch. I will give it credit for working the mystery angle quite well without being predictable or dragged out.
Just tryna figure out what Netflix is on with this emerging trend of showing actors’ backsides. It somewhat made sense this time (unnecessarily, but fine) but it was rather questionable in Sweet Home 2
I’m only on episode 2 but good lawd that bathroom fight scene had me in stitches. Pure comedy. I feel I’ll only be able to finish this if I take the whole thing as a comedy. The acting pains me and the run time only hurts the story, already fast forwarded.
The secondary couple feel like the only ones with chemistry and they ain’t even a couple yet.
Edit: Episode 3 was even worse. Nah they’re wrong for this. It’s so hilariously bad I’m crying. These plot holes and inconsistencies though lol I can’t.
Y'all I can't get past the first 30 minutes of the first episode?? The acting is so bad, I just spent the whole time cringing. Really unfortunate because it takes away from an interesting story. Hard pass.
Honestly the plot played out like a soap opera but I appreciated that most times they didn’t beat around the bush. It was cute and fun to watch, even with the usual clichés.
I’ve watched this too many times to count anymore and writing all my thoughts and interpretations of this beautiful movie would be like sharing a diary entry. It would also take forever. Someone mentioned it was their comfort movie and it is the same for me. The deep loneliness and alienation and desire for love, companionship, validation and acceptance that seeps out of Tam is breathtakingly melancholy yet I found it so comforting. His warped mindset and the decisions it leads to make so much sense when you truly look at him. The cinematography was the final seal. The water, the clouds, the play with light. All of it then accompanied with the music invokes so much emotion. The first time I watched it, the scene that made me fall in love was looking up at the sky from within the pool. I felt as if buoyant. Gently nudging with the soft waves of the water. And I felt so at peace. That’s when this movie nestled itself into my soul. For those unsure, I say give it a try. If you end up liking it or not will be up to personal taste and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Watched this in 2018 and put it on hold just before I finished it, I think it was because I felt bad for human Nam Shin. Gonna rewatch it now and see how I feel about it. ANS III had me tearing up though.
