She did have combat experience with fighting with assassins several times. Not saying it’s the same as fighting a seasoned general. But she’s very good at finding loopholes to her advantage and her unique strengths.

She didn’t save the whole army. She simply caused a distraction. XZ ML was overlooking the situation and adapted to salvage the mishaps. Her recklessness could have caused them to lose an important hostage and ruined XZ’s plan.

Wei Yan, prime minister and leader of the Wei clan is ML, Xie Zheng’s uncle, his mother’s brother. WY raised ML after both his parents died. Supposedly uncle treated him well and got top tutors for him. Only when ML started investigating what happened to his father 16 years ago and how he died, then assassins ambushed ML and tried to get rid of him. ML suspected uncle Wei got something to do with it, but no evidence yet.
