Rika's cry and laughter at the end seems very real.. maybe the wrap up effect.. Now that I completed it, don't…
I agree with you. I thought Rika's crying and laughters were natural and real too. I think she did a very good job as Mitarai Yo. Same with Jin. As for the other versions, I really liked the Taiwanese version. The story and events are about the same as the Japanese version since the Japanese version chose to follow the original closely. However, because the Taiwanese one has more characters so there will be a bit of a sidestory too which may not concern the pair much. The chemistry between the leads are just as good as this one. So I think you should give it a try. The Korean one is my least favourite version. However it was still l interesting to see their take of the story.

@pinkvanilla You are welcome! :) As for why they never showed what the result was after Ren had flipped the coin I think they wanted us to choose what we believe it was. Yo and Ren's relationship is already strong and well-bonded as it is. Marrying or not won't change anything for them. Like both Ren and Yo's mother said, marriage isn't the end but a page in life (something like that). However, I personally would like to believe that they were about to get married based on the ending scene with her and his family seeing them off and also because the original characters got married at last :p

What did you think of the Korean version? The Taiwanese version is a favorite of mine and I enjoyed this remake,…
You are welcome. Oh, I almost forgot there's a Thai version as well. Wasn't it filmed last year, even before the Japanese one was filmed? I wonder why it is taking so long for it to air.

Yes, I don't like this Ryusei guy either but if he and the ex-girlfriend Maki are catalysts to Ren and Yo's relationship…
It is okay. I would have gotten things mixed up too of I had seen that many versions of it. The phone scene in the original version happened on You Qing's 31st birthday at IKEA when Ren came to celebrate it with her. I understand exactly what you mean about Ren and Yo being more caring and less sarcastic. You Qing could come off as a bit mean and too dominant sometimes when interacting with Da Ren while Yo and Ren's friendship is more balanced. I also missed the fact that Ren was supposed to be a flight attendant/ground staff. Not did it suit him but I like how he took the priviledge of being a staff member to fly back-and-forth to meet You Qing as much as possible. That part was very sweet. I don't know if the Japanese version changed that because they didn't manage to get the permission to film at the airport? What occupations did the leads in the Chinese version have? I agree about the Japanese version being the best in the part when You Qing/Hana/Yo realized their feelings by listening to Da Ren/Ren's song or reading the script Won wrote (I didn't like how the Korean version changed from writing a song to a script). The lyrics to Ren's song is indeed very nicely written. Like you said it was raw and described his feelings well. I don't know if it was just me but it sounded like Ren was on the verge of crying when he recorded the song? I like your interpretation of how the song mirrored Ren's love for Yo, that it was always there but she didn't notice it. I also like Yo's reaction and lines while listening to the song. Rika is such a good cryer. It made me cry when she said "ever since the day you said you will never love me I kept telling myself to not fall in love with you but... I have loved you all the time". The whole scene was so emotional. It is my absolute favourite if we count all the scenes from the three different versions.

I watched the clip! They're talking about how Yo is so gutsy in the episode where they leave the Takoyaki place…
Thank you so much for the translation! They are indeed cute together. I would like to see more of them off-screen. If I knew Japanese or if there were English subtitles included I would have definitely bought the Bluray for the drama itself and also for the long behind-the-scene clip.

P.S I just noticed that your avatar is of Tsuchiya Tao. She is one of my favourite Japanese actresses. She is such a sweet and nice girl off-screen too. I like her a lot.

omg, theyre actually the same age in real life? That made the drama so much better and probably helped a lot in…
I think it is a plus too that they are the same age. I'm missing them as well. I would like to see them again as leads in another drama.

was there a meaningful/special reason or further explanation why she felt calmer doing it with Jin??
Other reasons that made Rika feel calmer that Ren is acted by Jin, beside that they have worked together before, is perhaps because they are comfortable with each other as well? They are the same age and seem to be close.

The official IG account of this drama posted a small part of the behind-the-scene today. Rika and Jin are cute together off-screen too. I wonder what they are talking about. At the end of the clip did I hear it right, did Jin call her by just "Rika", without any honorific (-chan, -san etc)? In Japan it is quite a big deal to be called by just your first name. It is either your family, boyfriend or really good friends who would do that.

@Transition, I cannot understand one scene in ep 16, can you please explain to me? That scene when Ren flipped…
@Pinkvanilla Yo had just turned 31 and the bet they made was who ever get married first before they turn 31 will win. Yo said it seems like none of them will win. Then Ren said there's a chance for both of them to win (that is if they marry each other). The proposal came a bit sudden so Yo was laughing at the idea. Ren then asked her what she thinks about it. To which Yo said she is happy as long as she is with him (so to her it doesn't really matter if they get married or stay as they are right now). That's why Ren flipped the coin to let the fate decide for them.

Thanks for telling me about the ending of the Chinese version. So they took some scenes and ideas from that one too? I didn't expect that. Thinking about it now, I think the fighting scene between Ren and the highschool guys is a bit similar to the Korean one? As for the phone conversation where Yo called Ren to ask him what he think of Ren, it is identical to the Taiwanese version as well. I want to write a review for this drama too but I'm not really good at expressing my thoughts. I miss this drama a lot already. As I said in my other post, this version almost beat the Taiwanese one for me, if only there were more sweet scene, and that says a lot since "In Time With You" is one of my favourite Asian dramas. Rika and Jin are also just as cute together as Ariel and Bolin (if not cuter :p) What about you? How would you rank the different versions?

What did you think of the Korean version? The Taiwanese version is a favorite of mine and I enjoyed this remake,…
I personally liked the Korean version the least among the three. They changed a bit too much of the events and dialogues in the drama. Ha Ji Won didn't seem that into the role either for some reason so I didn't think the chemistry was as good in that one. If people find the pace of the Taiwanese and Japanese version slow then I don't know what they would think of the Korean one. As a fan of the story of "In Time With You" I wouldn't say I regretted watching it. It was still interesting to see how Korea executed the story. So if you don't have any dramas to watch now when the Japanese version has ended perhaps you can give it a try?

I think he can if in the meantime he dates other women that he likes (but not love) to get his dose of affection…
Yes, that's what both Ren and Yo did. Ren dated Maki for example and when he broke up with her he said he liked her but that wasn't love. [Note! Spoilers ahead] Yo said the same thing to Ryusei in episode 16. When Ren and Yo had their "first night" together they said they haven't done it before with a friend so that's why they felt awkward, which means they have experienced "that" before in their earlier relationships.

Some facts about the leads that you may find interesting:
- Adachi Rika (Yo) and Shirasu Jin (Ren) have worked together before in a drama called Eigyo Bucho Kira Natsuko in 2016 where they played supporting characters.
- Rika, Jin and Kodai (Ryusei) are all the same age (born in 1992).
- Rika has watched the original "In Time With You" before while Jin has watched the first few episodes.
- When Rika knew she was going to star in this drama she was worried (probably because it was a huge success and was very likeable) but since she was going to do it with Jin she felt much calmer. She hope they could bring their own version of Cheng You Qing and Li Da Ren to the audience.
- Rika follows Chen Bo Lin (Li Da Ren) on IG. The cast of the Japanese version all follow each other.
- The Bluray/DVD of this drama will include a 220-minutes-BTS-footage.

Hehe. I think it is only normal for us to want to see more sweet scenes between Ren and Yo after having seen them suppressing their feelings and not telling each other how they really feel for 15 episodes. Especially after seeing how many kissing scenes Yo had with Ryusei. Regarding the bed scene between Ren and Yo. I agree with you that the feel was there and they could have made it more romantic and sweet if only it was longer so that the awkwardness wouldn't have dominated like 80-90 % of that scene. The weird thing is that this Japanese version has followed the Taiwanese one closely up till the last episode. I wonder what made them decide to change that? I didn't mind that they fixed "the mistakes" from the original version which I pointed out in my post above but they also changed what was good about the original one. I think the scriptwriter owe us more sweet scenes especially a proposal and wedding scene.

I agree with you. I have always liked the speech by Maki to Yo in all the versions. Yo is indeed a "baka" that needs to wake up. I like your interpretation of why Yo accepted Ryusei's proposal after knowing about the car crash although she doesn't love him.

Title I Don't Love You Yet Spoiler
It already feels empty the moment I finished watching the finale episode. I have watched three versions of "In Time With You" (Taiwanese, Korean and Japanese) this is the only version that has made me cry. I cried when Yo listened to Ren's confession song and finally admitted to herself that she has loved Ren all along, that it has been hard to suppress her feelings and she understands that it has been tough for him too. The flashbacks, the song and all of the lines combined made me shear a lot of tears. Kudos and applauds to Rika for acting this part out so well! With that said I think the last two episodes has its good and bad points.

The good ones:
- I like how they included Yo's thoughts and feelings when she listened to Ren's confession song.
- I like that Yo was calm and didn't feel any anger nor jealousy when she thought Ryusei had cheated on her (it makes sense that she didn't have those feelings since she didn't love him) and that they didn't make him cheat in this version. I thought the original version made things a bit dramatic when they made You Qing faint in that scene. It was good that Yo properly apologized to him in this version.
- It was sweet that Yo went to Shanghai to find Ren and confess to him.
- It was logical and more like Yo/You Qing when they made her stick within the shoes business as this is her passion. It didn't make much sense to me when YQ quitted her job and started to work at IKEA in the original one.

The bad things:
- Too little sweet scenes between Ren and Yo. They didn't include the part where they had to fly back-and-forth between Taiwan and Singapore to meet each other nor how they had to Skype each other every day because they have a lot to say to each other.
- There were no proposal scene and no wedding scene. I expected Ren to propose with the handmade ring of the opener of the beer-can like in the original version. So I was disappointed. Although I'm sure that Ren and Yo would be together forever no matter if they get married or not.
- Although they included the scene when Yo/YQ waited for Ren/Da Ren at his home but they cut out the part where he said that his password to his computer has always been her birthday.
- They didn't include the part when YQ was questioning him how he knows how to remove make-up and he told her that she had taught him that herself (he said to her back then that he wanted to learn the steps so he could help his future wife).

Overall, I think the Japanese version was good and did justice to the original. Rika and Jin did a good job and had good chemistry. Rika stood out in emotional scenes, she really touched me in those scenes. I think it is hard to choose the absolute favourite version, the Japanese one was better in the first half of the drama while the Taiwanese one had a better ending. So it is a tie for me.

P.S If they had included one more episode or cut the earlier scenes with Yo and Ryusei so Ren and Yo could have more scenes together as a couple I would have chosen this as my favourite version without doubt. :)

I agree with you. It feels empty now when the drama has ended and with it ending without a wedding scene and a lot of cute moments like the other versions did makes it feel more empty. I agree with you about the awkwardness. It is probably because we are all used to seeing Ren and Yo as best friends so when they are behaving intimately it feels weird? The two of them were good at acting the awkwardness out too XP

I have finished watching the drama now. In this version Ren and Yo were also awkward when they became a couple which is realistic considering how long they have been best friends. You were right about the kissing scenes. We only got 3 kisses and no wedding scene. This is what I felt was missing in this version compared to the Taiwanese and Korean one. However, I believe no matter if Ren or Yo get married or not they will always be together.
