Yang Zi is in this and the synopsis sounds so good! But I've never seen Kris Wu in anything before so I really really hope he can act and doesn't let the drama down ? Wish they went with an actual actor and not some idol.
Pretty much every character in this drama is hateful and unlikeable except for Zhang Min (the only redeeming part of this drama). Luo Xi is tolerable but isn't super likable. I don't know if its her character or the actress herself. But I especially hate all of her friends who live and work at the hostel (except the little girl). They are a bunch of big selfish children with the little girl the most mature of them all. Wen Na makes me want to strangle things. I hate hate characters that keep pursuing despite being told numerous times no. And Zhang Min's parents are the most despicable people alive.
Okay, Honest Question, why did not the ML pursue her like a normal guy would with someone that caught his attention?…
I don't know. Building a stable and healthy relationship around trust, sincerity and respect can still fall apart. She has the freedom to still think for herself and there is the possibility she will leave him. But if she is manipulated and controlled she won't have the ability to think for herself and leave ? Stolkholm syndrome at its finest!
This drama is basically season 1 without the cancer plotline. But don't ignore the fact he was planning to still do the cancer plot but changed his mind when a better opportunity to manipulate the poor FL reared its head. This time he straight up openly manipulates the FL and its the choice of having her career destroyed or the fiance contract. No normal human would act like the horrible ML. How anyone finds this behavior of manipulation, obsession and control romantic is beyond me. I get everyone has their kinks and fetishes when it comes to fictional things but i just don't get how someone who is probably a sociopath is attractive or how a relationship built on manpiulation and obsessive control can be romantic. This may not be a physically abusive relationship but it's definitely abusive in other ways. She needs to let her career fail and get out of there. Maybe get some police protection as the ML definitely is a sociopath with an unhealthy obsession for her.
So i ve been patient and i m at 20th episode. So where is that (bro)mance? They dont have that much of scenes…
I kinda feel like you are wanting some very blatant in your face romance. But you're not going to get it. The romance is very subtle and sweet and beautiful, something they had to do to get around the Chinese censors that bans gay romances. There are so many clues you seem to be missing but once it gets back to the present day parts the clues become much more obvious.
And even though there is romance in this, this is ultimately not a romance. It's about the story of Wei Wuxian and what he goes through. He just happens to have a romance in the telling of his story, but that is not the focus of this drama.
And also, WWX and LZ have way more scenes together then WWX does with both his sister and Wen Qing combined. Both women actually don't show up very much in the drama at all, especially compared to how much screentime LZ has.
But if you aren't liking it at this point then it might not be the drama for you. It's pretty much agreed on that if you don't like it by about episode 15 then you probably wont like it.
Him and his sister have absolutely no romance between them. I absolutely love WWX and her relationship because she ends up being the one who trusts and loves him the most. But she is only ever a sisterly/mother figure to him and he only ever saw her that way and she only ever saw him as a precious younger brother. And there is no romance between WWX and Wen Qing. He never shows any romantic feelings towards her. Wen Qing actually has more romance between Jiang Cheng then WWX.
It's kinda odd that you are reading so deeply into there possibly being hetero relationships but can't see the actual relationship between the 2 leads. But like others say, Lan Zhan does fall for and love Wei Ying pretty early into the drama, but Wei Ying doesn't really start loving him until the present day part of the drama.
Nirvana in Fire is one of my favorite dramas. I agree it's a masterpiece. The Untamed definitely has its issues with some plots holes, some inconsistencies with acting, being lower budget in general and more. But The Untamed in my opinion is higher rated in my mind then Nirvana in Fire because of the emotions and feelings it managed to create in me. It by far is not perfect but it is the only drama that has made me this obsessed (and I've been avidly watching dramas for 10 years). Sometimes there are dramas that come along that creates such a strong emotional response in you that it surpasses even those dramas that are subjectively much better. That is the Untamed for me and many others. It's fine if you dont agree. And comparing this to Western gay films is absolutely silly to do. The reviewers who are getting on this for not being respectful to real gay couples have no clue about Chinese censors. This drama managed to portray a beautiful romance between the 2 leads despite gay relationships being strictly forbidden in their media.
Anyone have a pdf version of the book or a link to the pdf version they are willing to share? I really want to read the novel but reading from the website is really awkward.
The ending.. That bit right at the end.. That was perfect! I cried again.. Out of happiness T_T
I absolutely loved loved the last 5 min. I rewatched it 6x in a row because it gave me such deep feels. The music, atmosphere, environment, cinematography and just the very last moment were perfect for me.
It's kind of a huge spoiler so don't read if you didn't already watched the first 17 ep !I'm at the ep17 and UGH,…
Him losing his Golden Core is the whole reason he went down the different cultivation path he took. Since he is now basically an average person physically, he has to rely on these other cultivation methods which is what gets him dubbed as evil and outcast. But it also makes him incredibly powerful to the point that he is still infamous 16 years later when he resurrects.
Technical schmechnical... I love the clunky CGI!!! And you know what... it's not even that clunky. Also... so…
I know I've seen too many Chinese dramas because I thought the CGI was fine in this drama. I was a bit surprised how many comments there were about the bad CGI haha.
I initially just wanted them to get back to the present day, but by the time it got there I didn't want to leave the past. Most of the drama centers around the past and is pivotal to the whole drama.
AOL is Ashes of Love and TMOPB is Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. Both are really popular Xianxia (fantasy) dramas like The Untamed (but straight romances).
I dont know how anyone can just see a friendship lol. They had a beautiful romance and very obviously love each other deeply (no one searches the world and is in mourning for 16 years for your bro).
And even though there is romance in this, this is ultimately not a romance. It's about the story of Wei Wuxian and what he goes through. He just happens to have a romance in the telling of his story, but that is not the focus of this drama.
