People have varied tastes and opinions based on their life experiences and you telling them they must be immature teenager to enjoy it is probably one of the most immature comments here. Why does it even matter so much to you if someone does or doesn't like this drama? As you get older (I'm 38) you mature enough to learn that people have different opinions about things and because they don't have the same opinions doesn't mean a) you have any right to insult them or their intelligence or b) their opinion should upset you so much that you insult them. I have dramas I love that people hate and dramas I hate that people love and I honestly respect them when they have different opinions. I respect you hate this drama and honestly I'm not bothered by it. So please grow up and show the same respect. I'm sorry you didn't like this drama and hope you find one soon that you do love.

I'm really sorry this drama didn't work for you and it being your first one at that. I am honestly surprised anyone thought HJP had any chance of getting the girl but I've also watched over 300 dramas so I guess I have more experience to see these things. It must be heartbreaking that the couple you were rooting for never happened.

If you are looking for dramas with a ML like HJP there are plenty of them out there. You can click on peoples names who have similar opinions and then choose 'watchlist,' a lot of commenters here give ratings on dramas which can be a good way to find new dramas to watch.

Some I personally liked are Search WWW, I Can Hear Your Voice, Healer, Secret Life of My Secretary, Goblin, Tale of the 9 Tailed Fox. I personally really liked all the ML in these dramas. Some are cheeky and fun (9tailed and Goblin) some sweet puppies (WWW and Voice). But take my opinions with a grain of salt because I personally was always on the DoDal ship so my tastes might not match your tastes.

Very well said. Even though I was for Dosan since the beginning, I recognize he has flaws and issues. But the flaws were never bad enough for me to jump ship (I find him a sweet puppy despite his flaws). I also love HJP and even if I didn't ever see him with Dalmi I still wanted him to have a HEA.

I love your ideas and thank you for a more unbiased view. I think the drama would have benefitted so much more if they completely scratched the love triangle and made HJP a true friend and mentor. I also wish they had given a reconciliation between Dalmi and Injae so much earlier in the drama. There are so many dramas with love triangles and women who fight each other but not enough that focuses on friendships, bromance and sisterly love. The drama could have been about hopes and dreams and following your dreams, and feel like the drama vastly missed the mark in that regard.

Ultimately the drama had flaws and sometimes the long episodes felt like a slog, but it was entertaining and had some genuine moments I really liked. I also rated it an 8/10.

The drama made it clear from before it even aired that Dosan was the ML. I am honesty baffeled how anyone thought otherwise. Why would a drama utilize NJH who is a more popular star than KSH, only to make him the SML? After this drama I love KSH and really hope he is given lead roles, but he wasn't well known or nearly as popular as NJH before this drama. And the drama focused on Dalmi and Dosan finding and accomplishing their goals, while HJP's only goal in the drama after ep 1 was to get the girl. So that alone should have been a red flag he wasn't the ML as he was written almost strictly to be the foil to the OTP. I totally get being upset that your ship sank, but it was so obvious from the beginning that it was a sinking ship. All those essays and character analysis and so on were just desperate hopes the JiDal ship would sail.

I really wish the drama didn't emphasize the love triangle as much as it did, because for a lot of viewers, especially JiDal shippers, it became all about that and not the drama itself.

All the actors have done a wonderful job portraying their characters. I don't think I've liked Suzy in anything before but I thought she did a great job in this. NJH has been hit and miss for me. Loved him in Weightlifting Fairy but then hated him in Bride of the Water God. But I think he has done a wonderful job as the vulnerable, sweet puppy Dosan. And KSH has definitely made me a fan and hope he goes on to be the ML in future dramas.

The worst tragedy of this drama is that it took 13 episodes to unleash the foreheads. Why would you keep them hidden for 12 episodes!? KSH and NJH foreheads are too beautiful to hide!

The funny thing is, if anyone looks objectively or reaches, people could find many ressons why HJP is also toxic (but neither character is toxic, most of what you described are realistic character flaws that probably many people here have).

Actually we could probably do the same for any ML out there unless they were written to be the perfect human (which makes for a boring and unrealistic character).

But let's look at HJP. You call out Dosan not contacting his parents (which I didn't actually notice as I was kinda distractedly watching at the time) but HJP who basically got his career start because of Grandma completely ignored her for 15 years. Yes she told him not to find her but that was still a cold move by him.

JP has twice now manipulated DS into thinking there is more to his and Dalmi relationship than there is.

He lies not only to Dalmi and others, but to himself. Like when he told Grandma, and himself, he doesn't like Dalmi.

He can be an arrogant jerk with a I know better attitude. Does he know better? A lot of the time, yes, but that doesn't mean he has to be an ass about it. He basically told the boys they are useless and have no hope in the beginning (and a few times afterwards). There is criticism and then there is constructive criticism. He just criticizes which doesn't help anyone (he even realizes this himself but he still didn't change).

I could go more but I think you get the point. The things you called out are flaws in Dosan's character but it's almost like you want a perfect bastion of a character without a single flaw (and be honest, HJP is not that character). Again, saying Dosan should have done this or done that would have made his character boring. Lots of his character flaws are realistic. Like how he didn't tell his parents he cheated and that lie ate him up and shaped him. I once did something really bad when I was young (I realized later I was too young to really understand my choices but that doesn't matter) and not telling my parents ate me up inside. I thought I was awful and horrible and it really affected me. It was such a relief when I did finally tell my parents. Should I have told my parents sooner? Most definitely. But I am only human afterall. But Dosan was the same way. This doesn't make him toxic it just makes him a normal flawed human.

As for him not keeping the secret. Grandma was already being unfair asking this stranger that she knows cares for her granddaughter to keep a secret that huge from her. And I personally think she wrote that review with the knowledge that Dalmi will learn the truth. Otherwise, why would she write a review if she truly did want to keep it a secret? Yes Dosan shouldn't have told Dalmi but Grandma didn't seem upset (or surprised) that she did know. I think out of this whole situation it was Grandma more in the wrong to hide this from the person who loves her most.

You keep saying 'this is normal behavior' but lots of the ways that Dosan acts is also normal behavior. We as humans are made of flaws and Dosan I think is the most realistic character in this drama. Maybe people don't like him because he is too realistic and they don't like it? I honestly don't know. I think a lot of the hate and essays and deep character analysis stemmed from watchers loving HJP and trying to find reasons why Dosan isn't worthy of Dalmi and it jaded their view of HJP. But he is by far not the most toxic or hateful ML out there but you would think he is.

I am not a Dosan stan and I am not biased enough to ignore that Dosan has flaws. I don't agree with his violent actions but that stems from his insecurities and his realiance on Dalmi, which I hoped the author would address after the 3 years. But making him out like he is the most hated and vile ML ever to grace the TV (not necessarily you but kany others have basically said this) is really not true. There have been so many worse ML out there, hell the old school kdrama ML was basically built around toxicity, but I think the hate stems from a bias of HJP.

Lastly, if we go back to 'he should have done this' scenario you mentioned, then all these issues and lies initially stemmed from HJP and Grandma's lies and then again from their lie in present day by trying to use the real Dosan. If HJP had just used his real name (but he admitted he used Dosan's because he was jealous of him) or if he had just told Dalmi the truth when they met again, none of the things that happened after would have happened. Dosan and Dalmi probably never would have met and JP and Dalmi probably would have ended up together. So in the end, all the issues stemmed from HJP's lie.

Oh I'm not supporting SML who are written like this but calling out that this is definitely nothing new in dramaland. It's why i almost always hate love triangles for this specific reason.

For the most part Dosan is not a bad character. He definitely has his flaws (all the characters in this drama does which I think makes their charactersmore interesting) but he isn't some evil toxic human. But I do agree with you that any relationship built on needing another person as much as Dosan needs Dalmi is not healthy or a good way to start or have a relationship. I really hoped after the 3 years that he would have moved past this, and he did improve some, but not enough. I actually wished all the characters would mature and improve but they are all almost exactly where they were 3 years ago. It's like the time jump didn't even matter.

It's not fair to hate on a person or anyone just because their experience isn't as bad as someone elses. It also is immature to ignore or invalidate someone's feelings for the same reason. If you had 2 friends come up to you and each has a problem they are struggling with, is it fair to tell the friend whose problem isn't as bad, "your problem isn't as bad as this other friend so get over it." Of course not. When people say things like "I'm tired" and you are told in response, "I only got 1 hour of sleep, you can't say anything." Does that magically make you feel better or less tired? Of course not. Just because you got more sleep than the other person you are still tired. So trying to use this as a reason why Dosan shouldn't have an issue is like saying anyone who hasn't grown up with a broken family or without a family has no right to feel upset or have issues. Most people hede probably could end up being able to relate more to Dosan simply because I doubt most people grew up with major childhood issues yet probably have issues and problems we struggle with.

But he was always the SML and this is almost always their point in dramas. They are simply their to make conflict or bring the OTP together and don't have much other reason. I still can't fathon how anyone went into this drama not know HJP was the SML. It was made clear he was even before this drama aired. He wasn't treated any worse then most other SML. And even though people here somehow makes him out to be this perfect character that could do no wrong, he was just as flawed as Dosan and Dalmi, just in different ways (he was manipulative, a bit of a jerk, lied, abandoned Grandma for 15 years, was cold, lied to himself and others tjat he didn't like Dalmi and was a coward for never pursuing Dalmi, even when he had 3 years to do so). Don't get me wrong, I loved HJP also, but I was always on the Dosan ship because he was the clear ML from the start and I always am on the ML ship when I start a drama (why watch a drama if you aren't on the OTP ship, unless you aren't watching to see the SML end up with the FL, but reading comments here that wasn't the case for most people). The only time I jump ship (and then I end up dropping the drama) is if the ML has given reason not to ship him with the FL. And despite all the reasons, people were really reaching to give a reason why HJP should end up with Dalmi and were sometimes ridiculous and hypocritical (some things people attacked Dosan's character for were things HJP had done himself). Dosan is definitely not without his flaws but he is by far not the worst ML out there but reading comments here you would think he was a real person who murdered your family. What I find interesting is HJP is like an old school ML that most dramas are moving away from, but it seems like lots of people don't want to move on to different and unique ML who aren't all the rich, handsome, suave, cold, tsundere type characters. I like how different and quite frankly, relatable Dosan can be. I doubt anyone wants to admit it or think too deeply about it but I think most people here would relate more to Dosan than HJP. What confuses me is why this SML when there have been many good SML in the past that no one bats an eye at, and why does this ML get so much hate when I could name many other worse ML out there that somehow got a pass.

This obsessive blind love for HJP, when he wasn't even the best written character out there, will remain baffling to me for ages to come.

Also, before you or anyone else get your pitchforks out, I also do like HJP character and hope he does get a HEA (even if it doesn't mean getting this girl), I also thought the writing wasn't the greatest and lacked in many ways like the intense focus on the love triangle and the men and the lack of focus on the women. In a lot of ways the drama became more about HJP and Dosan being childish to each other and the women, especially the SFL, became more just plot points for the men.

I don't personally agree. JP character has already achieved all his goals he set out to achieve in life. Really, all that's left for him is to get the girl now. It would make for a boring drama where the ML only purpose is trying to obtain the FL. Dosan on the other hand has a journey and dream to achieve still. He hasn't achieved his goals and dreams like JP which means you are following his journey down that path. JP also is more reminiscent of old school ML in characteristics. He is standoffish (originally), a bit of a jerk, arrogant, lies to himself and others that he doesn't like the FL. So I guess in this way yes he is like an ML but from old school kdramas.

All the characters in this drama are quite flawed which I think adds a realistic flair to the drama. I mean everyone lies to every (Dalmi to Injae, Grandma, JP and Dosan to Dalmi) but I think part of the drama is their growth as characters and trying to move past their flaws to become better and stronger characters.

I find it interesting that people have been defending HJP when I find him the more toxic and unlikeable person. But I guess this is why people are so interesting because of our varied opinions and life experiences.

And this drama is definitely not even close to the worst case of a toxic relationship in a drama. This isn't a perfect romance at all but on the toxic relationship meter it barely scratches the surface of some dramas (especially old school ones).

But I'm sorry you don't like it or the OTP and hope you can find something enjoyable soon! And I had heard Camilla was great I've just not seen it yet but will add it to my to watch list :) I'm a sucker for sweet men (even if they are flawed).

I really wish there was never a rivalry between the sisters. Or they got over their rivalry early on in the drama. It is in a way a driving force behind most of Dalmi's decisions as she has held on to the grudge and hurt and pain her sister inflected on her from many years earlier. But I still wish there could have been more to their relationship. We have plenty of dramas where women fight each other but not enough where they work together, support and love each other.

I've been watching this drama in my own little bubble so wasn't even aware there was a ship war going on. I was kinda shocked to learn this because I've been rooting for the sweet puppy Dosan since the beginning (I'm completely stunned anyone wouldn't want Dosan with Dalmi as he is such a wonderful and sweet man but that's of course just my opinion).

I also love JP. Well, I should say, I love Kim Seon Ho. But I want JP to have a HEA rather than get the girl (I mean, he already succeeded everywhere else in life and now he just wants the girl as the final crown to his success story and him not getting Dalmi doesn't mean he can't have a HEA). But I don't think I would like JP as much as I did if it was played by a less charismatic actor. JP is too reminiscent of old school ML which I've moved on from, and now prefer the sweet and nice men as my leads, which Dosan fits perfectly.

I am a bit confused why there even is a shipping war. Maybe KSH is just that powerful. Because there have been less likable ML and more likable SML out there that didn't have a ship war like this happening. Maybe because the ML in those dramas wasn't likable so it was easy to go with the SML, but Dosan is a very likable and lovable character which creates a huge opinion divide.

Either way, I totally accept everyones opinion whether you ship Dosan, or JP or you ship Dalmi finding her own way without either man :) I also hope this will open more doors to KSH getting lead roles because the man deserves it.

Requesting Netflix to not air the drama until it's done airing is selfish because those who want to watch immediately have no option except to wait (unless they go to illegal sites or fansubs). While them airing it now gives the option to both parties. People who want to watch immediately can and those who want to wait can also wait. This option lets people have a choice while your option doesn't.

This is how Taiwanese dramas air dramas, only 1 ep a week. People got mad when Netflix first started airing Asian dramas when they waited until it was done airing until they released everything. They have since changed their modus operandi (for the better) to air them as they release the eps on TV. If they didn't people would still be waiting to watch dramas like Startup or Dodosol. If you dont want to wait for each ep just wait until it's done airing (like what I'm doing).

And providers like Viki, iqiyi, Tencent, etc also release eps as they air so I'm confused why they are fine but it's stupid for Netflix to do the same thing...........
