I'm really not sure why I'm still watching this because it's some of the worst writing I've seen in a drama in a long time, but I'm determined to watch all of it. Dylan I think mentally checked out when he was filming this because all he does 95% of the drama is blankly stare off into space. Thankfully the drama tells us what he is supposed to be feeling otherwise I would think he is a robot (maybe his next roll he can play a robot, he is doing a mighty fine job playing one in this drama). For a drama that is almost exclusively about the romance the OTP is incredibly boring. Thankfully the 2OTP is there because they are the only saving grace. I quite like them and their romance and wish the drama was about them only because I feel it would be much more enjoyable and fun.

Imo it's absolutely terrible. Some of the worst writing I've seen in a long time. The OTP is so incredibly boring and Dylan is just bad in this. His idea of acting is to blankly stare off into space 95% of the drama. But the 2OTP is actually pretty good and the thing that keeps me watching. I know of a FB group who is doing a 2OTP only cut and suggest watching that instead. But this is just my opinion you may enjoy it.

Ya, don't waste your time!

The whole drama moves way too fast. They are trying to fit so much plot into such a small amount of time. They haven't even really spent time on establishing the characters or the initial romance since they are so busy trying to tell all the plot.

So my favorite genre is Xianxia so of course I had to try this. I've watched 10 ep and it is so so poorly written. I don't suggest this to anyone. The characters have almost no personality and the romance happened so quickly I nearly got whiplash. And the story in general feels so disjointed and makes no sense. I feel like I'm watching cut scenes from a video game and the drama forgot to write the stuff in between to tie everything together. It moves ridiculously fast from one scene to the next without spending any time on them. It tells you whats happening and why and already moved to a conpletely different plot. And then one of the most annoying things is lots of the big actions and plot points turns pervious important parts of the plot pointless. Like why even have that in the story if it's literally made pointless the very next ep? I do like the 2nd FL and have some interest in the 2nd OTP and so far they are the small saving grace of this drama. I am much more invested in their story than the actual OTP. Overall terribly terrible written drama. At this point I think I want to watch just for 2OTP and to see how just of a disaster this drama can be.

I'm absolutley loving this drama. It has one of the best family dynamics and I love both lead characters. The FL might seem brash and dumb but she is actually very thoughtful, intelligent and kind. I love the gender reversals and that the drama for the most part doesn't make it a joke. She just is the way she is and he is the way he is and both accept each other exactly as they are. And the OTP fit together perfectly and have such a lovely relationship. Thankfully as of ep 33 their relationship has been pretty angst free. And the angst that has arrived was dealt with and overcome pretty quickly because of their trust and love for each other (and because both leads are intelligent). Except for some of the villains most pretty much all the side characters are likable, even one of the girls that I thought would be a thorn ended up being a really liked character. And the FL family! I absolutely love her family and how much they love and support each other. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes historical cdramas and don't want anything to heavy or angst filled.

I love how well matched the OTP is. They are perfect for each other. She matches him in intelligence perfectly. At first I thiught she would just be another dumb FL but was do pleasantly surprised she isn't.

I'm convinced the 2 dads are bff frenemies. They bicker like a married couple but then get worried about the other lol

It only lasted like 2 eps. The FL is pretty smart and figures things out quickly and that he does what he does to protect her and her family.

I love the vibe of this drama.

I also love how unique and quirky the ML is. He is weird and different, but he is kind and tries hard to make others happy. I love kind and sweet MLs.

I felt the same. I never understood the obsession for HJP. But after thinking about it for awhile I think the obsession comes from him being written like a typical old school ML that young girls flock to. His character isn't unique or original in the least. He is a cold tsundere which I rarely find attractive and likable (there are exceptions but HJP wasn't one of them). I did like HJP but I never wanted him to get the girl (and let's be honest, if he was played by a less skilled actor I doubt as many people would have liked HJP. They fell for the actor not the character). But I fell for Dosan because he is a sweet puppy and different and unique from most ML out there. It's also why I'm loving the ML from Run On who is weird and quirky and unique. I'm so glad dramas are starting to move away from the HJP's as MLs and try to write more unique MLs.

I didn't have an issue with Xiao Zhan's look. He looked like how his character lived. The issue I had was Darren's HEAVY orange makeup to try and make him look tanner. Whenever he wiped his face I worried he would scrape off all his orange foundation. It looked terrible.

Well written. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm just persevering at this point to finish. I did initially like the drama otherwise I would have dropped. I also kept hoping the FL would grow and become stronger and kept sticking around for that to happen and kept getting more and more annoyed and frustrated she never did. She was shown to be very intelligent but as soon as the ML entered the screen she turned naive, dumb and useless. The drama had a lot of possibilities going for it but the characters I think is ultimately where the drama failed. The actors all did a wonderful job but I felt like they were wasted in this drama. I'm sure censorship and heavy editing caused an issue with where the drama wanted to go. I actually think it would have been awesome to have set BW up more as a villain instead of someone who is good but simply did these awful things out of some broken idea of "love". And MZX who was his equal on the opposite side. I think the forbidden and tragic love would have been much more compelling that way. But Chinese censors don't allow the main characters to be morally black or grey, they have to be white. I sadly ultimately found the relationship between Yao Ji and BW much more compelling then his relationship with MZX. At this point I don't care what MZX or BW ending is because I just don't care about their characters.

And I'm the opposite. I didn't care for this but quite liked L&R and that's because I loved the ML and quite liked the FL in it. A lot of my enjoyment of a drama comes from my like or dislike of the main characters.

I also hated the rap one. Thankfully it's not played as much later on but it was played way too often in the beginning.

I don't think anyone is saying this type of abusive and toxic relationship can't exist in dramas. If people like it despite that I have no issues with them enjoying it. It's a fictional drama afterall. But I personally don't enjoy a drama where the FL is constantly being abused both emotionally and physically. I also don't enjoy dramas where the FL is almost consistently shown as useless. I kept hoping she would become stronger and step up but she still hasn't successfully done so yet (I'm on ep 41). I actually think I wouldn't have been so bothered if the FL wasn't so frustrating and poorly written. These are my personal opinions and thoughts. I never advocated for this drama to not exist or that people can't enjoy it. And reading other comments I haven't seen anyone else say that either.

This drama totally romanticizes abuse. ML is horrible to the FL pretty much through the whole drama but the drama tries to show it's romantic because he does it for her own good and because he loves her. Riiiiiight. I'm pretty sure the FL had Stockholm's Syndrome since around ep 13 because that's the only explanation I can come up with that she keeps returning to this abusive ML.

I'm 1/2 through 34 and feel the same. I'm only sticking around at this point because I've already watched this many eps I might as well finish it. But both the ML and FL makes me angry. FL is thankfully getting better but her obsession over Wolf Boy and ignoring everything else and deluding herself and her naivete is super annoying and made me angry at her character. ML is not likable and awful to her, why I was annoyed the FL was always so forgiving to him. Him doing it for her "own good" or to "protect" her is a stupid reason to betray, lie to her, pretend he was going to rape her, imprison her, mock her, was party to her families murder, laughs and undermines her, and is just awful to her. I really hope after all these things were made obvious she doesn't stupidly forgive him just because he was trying to "protect" her. I keep hoping she will punch his mocking smile off his face. I don't know the ending but I kinda hope he ends up dead.

The MDL synopsis is almost nothing like the drama. Like normal.

"This is not biased but I disgust that the the writer make JP & DM who wrote the letters never talked about the letters after 3 years while DS never wrote the letters but suddenly quote phrase from letters. It shows that til the end DS need the letters to get to DM heart."

I personally saw this differently. I saw it that DS put more importance on the letters then HJP ever did. Which is why he never really talked about the letters.

And it is your bias, just like my opinion is a bias.... Every opinion we have will be biased because that's what opinions are.
