The kdrama is ridiculous and checks every cliche but it's still so engaging. I hope the ML gets his little revenge in the nest few episodes. Otherwise the FLs lies are dragged out too long.
It's a great action series. If you love shows like Prison break or the movies like Die hard, thus is great. The plot concentrates on the ML and that's good. No need for unnecessary side plots. The pace is good, the action is one of the best I've seen in a drama this year. JCW is the korean Bruce Willis. He can do it all. And he is as unbeatable as Willis and looks even better with ripped clothes and blood stains everywhere. Lol
I'm really sad this is over and that almost never happens. I loved how the crew managed to pull through every single week and although their victories were shortlived most of the time they krept back up step by step with lots of heart and optimism. And the leads are my favourite couple of 2025. They were that cute:-)
Junseo's mother's arc should have ended a long time ago, and I hope we don't see her again. She takes up too much…
I think she's reappearing because every interaction with her shows that JunSeo is indeed much more emphatic than some of his other action lead on to. I think she's there to highlight some of his character traits. For example he's very loyal to family even if the family is terrible. Like with Ahjin I think he never looses hope that his mother may still change and regret what she did. But sure... she's annoying and seems to have no conscience.
I don't get all the negative comments KYJ is getting by playing a sociopath. It's literally the whole premise for this thriller. If actors would only play good characters there would be no stories to tell. KYJ is really good acting BAJ. Also Sociopathy is a disorder that needs therapy. And even with therapy a sociopath can't reach the same level of empathy a non-sociopathic person has got. Not every sociopath does bad things though. The environment is crucial. BAJ has got a terrible upringing. I guess her father was a sociopath too. And the hubby is even worse beeing a psychopath which is even harder to deal with. It's a very dark story. The FL won't get a happy ending. There's no way after all she did. She even was manipulative as a very little girl. The only person unharmed by her will most likely be the husband because beeing a psychopath means to be very calculated while BAJ is all impulsivness. There is a saying: Sociopathy will probably lead to jail while psychopathy will probably lead you to management. Of course people with these disorders can lead pretty average lives too.
For me this is one of the best kdramas this year and as a whole. It has some flaws...sure, but it's engaging and has very good pacing. I like the characters a lot. The ML is probably my favourite ML ever. He's kind but knows what he wants. He's an optimist and always stands up again after every setback. The FL is more quiet but strong. Their whole relationship is beautifully told and naturally developed. And the cinematography is great too. I would have loved more emphasis on the IMF crisis as a bodyless antagonist because this Pyo guy reminds me very much off the Janga guy from Itaewon Class. But well... the message of the kdrama is great and I hope for a happy ending tonight.
Oh... and the drama feautures some of Lee Junhos best scenes: the shoe commercial, his night club rendition and his dancing in the street. It's the perfect vehicle for him. But he never dissapointed me so far.
Episode 9 brought more back story to light. The drama even acknowledged that stories have backstories that reveal themselves slowly sometimes... The writers seem to be very self-aware throughout. Also the characters truly develop. So far this is a really interesting drama with an unusual rhythm for a kdrama love story. I doubt we´ll see a break-up. After the prolonged bickering-phase I think they´ll concentrate on the twin-story and the ML and probably on the second couple.
The screenwriter of this series was very optimistic in believing that most viewers would have the patience to…
I really like how you appreciate the storytelling. I may be in the minority too but I like both main leads and have no problems to feel empathy gor their situation. I don't really get the lawyer though on an emotional level. But I like the actor.
After 14 episodes I'm still liking this very much. The only flaw I can name is that they are fighting basically the same antagonist and not the usual problems the crisis brought. Although you get the picture by watching the side characters. The main leads are really great. I love their optimism.
And the way they handled the crisises was much different each time and most times kind of unusual.
