I gave this 3 more stars than I gave the first season (a 1 lol). Its still an epic train wreck of bad acting, script and unrealistic behaviors. Just when you think relationships are turning a tide, it goes back to annoying fights. Ugh. This needed some serious editing and work in the plot. Oh well. It also ends abruptly.
“Bizarre twist” is right. What a random pile of wannabe Boys Over Flowers on a low budget. Oh man. Ends so abruptly. Did people really get made to wait for another season?!?
Has Korea lost some imagination in titling shows - I mean at least their English versions. why not just call it the same as the Korean title. “Lovely” has been a little overused of late folks.
I really loved this, however early on its clear where ML’s heart lies and he is pretty solud with no devivations, so enduring the FL’s side plot felt draggy and unecessary for most of the middle to end section of the season. You will feel like you are just going thru the motions of a plot filler, only to spread out the episodes. Its extremely annoying. I would have loved a little better imaginative writing, to follow that plot or do something else entirely that increased the tension with the leads. when everything finally falls into its proper place, I felt like we were as it should be - but sat through at least 10 episodes of pointless viewing. I loved the idea of best friends to lovers and it was done well by the end. Rooting for ML from the start. FL never quite felt believable, she holds back her emotions quite a lot in her acting of this show.
Someone tell me its worth continuing-I’m on ep 3 and really having a hard time staying engaged with this show. Does it get better? I know kdramas can have the need to “just get through the first few” but honestly when theres dramas that hook you from the first ep - this feels like a chore…..
I don’t see the appeal. Watched the entire show. I think ultimately the FL was badly cast. Too small and I’m not saying this girl shouldn’t be an actor she just did not fit this ML, looks and behaves like a kid all the way through, and paired with someone who should probably have been given a more mature looking character like the rest of the girls in the dorm. She wasn’t dressed like a grown up, she had no young adult mannerisms. Everything gives teen, and that might work had this been a high school drama, but not for college where they want to pull off a legitimate mature relationship that becomes intimate. The whole way through I felt like he was dating and crushing on a teenager and it felt wrong on every level. Why do they do this? So many pretty more mature actresses in China, they insist on casting like this. There was zero real chemistry and I think thats why. Aaron Deng carried this show. However, he doesn’t exude much charisma sadly either. Overdone tropes, typical clingy salty seconds, and not a lot of interesting content. That 2FL geez was obsessive to the point of mental health issue. can you just stop writing this way. Such a bad example to the little girls who were clearly watching this show. Best I can give this is a 6.
Surprised how many people are loving this. Was enjoying it until that stupid twist. So sick of these types of plots where suddenly they get engaged to someone else, and who doesn’t think for a second to actually do a DNA test with the love of your life before you make such a huge decision?!?!?! It turns so silly I just can’t. So many daft side plots too. I skipped so much of this drama to get to the resolution of the nonsense because the sadness and angst was just boring. Loved the fighting. The weird hallmark cheery music was hilarious. Kind of sad for Chen Zhe tho. Didn’t like how the writers turned him out.
Funny how the parents are only 10 yrs older than the “child” lol funny casting. I was enjoying the typical cdrama vibe of this show, and the usual nonsense trip they take us on. Its an honest to goodness relief after a handful of serious heavy kdramas. Like. cdrama is a sweet relief of trope heaven, and I’m here for all of it. But oh for goodness sakes did the writing get turned over to a middle schooler because this went off the rails. Can we not have obsessed “relative” thats been in a sibling relationship suddenly turn delulu and obsess about romantic relationship with her “brother”?!?! I mean blood relatives they might not be but if they grew up siblings thats just all kinds of nasty and I’m sorry why was literally no one but me calling it out. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
What to say? A cute drama with great actors leading the show, sadly however the writing is not up to par at all. And I so badly wanted that second couple to pull it off but there was zero chemistry, frozen fish kissing and lacked all the passion he gave when chasing FL. Like sorry that was a total flop on the writing and directing. Ji Jin Hee will always be my favorite Korean President tho ✌🏼🤣
Best I can give those is 7/10. I mean big brother liking an identical lookalike to his sister is yuck as ever, but he’s a good guy and we have to somehow put it in its place in dramaland. This is a highly skippable show as the story really slows and drags through much of the central parts. The final few episodes are a hot mess. Explanations of the past, while helpful would have been better sprinkled throughout the series. Its more a case of poor scriptwriting that could have paced the plot much better. As the story progressed I lost most my empathy for the FL, who started out like a QUEEN, and gradually became nonsensical. I really hated her decision towards the end and for someone that hates lying ML sure gets over a mammoth of a lie in the last part really quickly. Overall you just have to take this with a pinch of salt. Its a 2010’s era drama. An interesting watch, but certainly not one I’ll ever give my time to watch again. More likely forgettable. As enjoyable as the oldies are, they give all the tacky soap opera vibes and this is right up that street. Fraud of the Century would have been a better title lol.
So glad thats over. Major disappointment. WZQ is so good in his other dramas. He tried but ZYX wasn’t a good casting match. And the script? Like what was that at times. 🤦🏼♀️
This show should be called “She’s Never Gonna Love Me” oh geez this one started out feeling a 9 or 10 star drama. Then skidded to a halt for 25 episodes and rushed it at the end. So it’s a 7 for me. Really, why? Come on!!!!
What is everyone drinking here in these comments? Did you forgive what the writers gave us for 35 episodes? That the FL was written to be so unlikable? Are you all teenagers??? lol
Good grief obvs non of you hung out in viki comments cos that was a riot and everyone seemed as ticked off as me.
Oh well. If being played is how you like your shows so be it. This show had some real potential. Sure go at that pace if you like. I love slice of life dramas, but could have cut out a chunk in the middle, still had it develop the same way and give us a much more satisfying ending, not as rushed and more feel good. Like could we have had a scene with them on the beach at night, or something where they could have vocally shared their feelings in a less angry, provoking and frustrated way. It was clear they were meant to be together from very early on, but the way this was executed was seriously disappointing. This could have been a solid 10 star drama, however, having FL pine for the friend for almost the entire show, constantly hurt the ML feelings because of her childish delulu crush.. and then give up on him after 5 min was seriously ridiculous. We needed much more resolution time after dragging that to its death than a final LITERALLY 10 minutes of a 36 episode drama.
