This is a very mid drama, the acting by those in the storyworld was sub par, and there’s no emotional connection to care about them. Ended up skipping a lot of that towards the end of the drama as I was so over it already. There’s too much repetition of tropes within this drama too, and that was disappointing. Oh, she’s in the hospital again, surprise!! 🤣
This drama would have been better at 18 or so episodes but the cdramas are improving and not giving us 40+ anymore which is nice. There needed to be a bit more chemistry between the leads, the FL’s always seem to give back a tiny portion as to what they received from ML and yes thats the writer tripping us all, but would love to see FL actually embrace relationships a bit more maturely. They are not 13 yr olds embarking on first crushes. Not endorsing intimate scenes per say, just a bit more grown up behavior would be nice.
All the guys run funny in this show, which will give you a smile. Overall, I enjoyed this drama for 3/4 of the time and then it started to feel tired. The way they ended the last 30 seconds was nice and uplifting. Nice to see.
Definitely a simple drama with not much depth to the script (which gets a little odd in places) this drama felt very pure and certainly was filmed that way. The leads relationship development was paced well, and they were very sweet to each other. This drama is very much a U rating, I don’t recall even a single kiss which is very different for a jdrama.
Overall, despite the oddity of the plot and weird moments in the production (you’ll know what I mean if you watch it) you will enjoy thos short and simple show.
A gem of a drama that wasn’t on my radar but si glad I stumbled across it.
Though I did wish there was not so much of the sadness and hardships for the leads (they just can’t catch a break with the situation) the storyline was compelling enough to keep you hooked. Timing of the show got a little long. That last 5 episodes or so felt tedious and I started skipping in order to just bring the situation to a close. The ending felt extremely rushed which is always frustrating especially when its got so many episodes - a fuller ending would have been nice and appropriate considering the abundance of tension and difficulties the writers put us through.
Overall this was a great watch, and thankfully the character of the ML is cute and funny enough to offset the angst and tension thats flowing through this drama from start to finish. The comedy relief there from him was crucial. The 3 track OST got really irritating.
That has to be one of the biggest 180’s I have ever seen in a main character ever!! Not just a complete switch of behavior but also it feels like personality wise as well. However because ML starts off so heavily messed up and toxic, the change is desperately needed. To be fair the FL carries her fair share of awful behavior too, multiple times she comes across as the biggest hypocrite ever. After 3 yrs of relationship with Ml she runs off the minute he messes up but the 2ML can do no wrong despite not getting touch for 4 yrs she just goes “its in the past” yet ML she can’t let it go as she clearly watched him give up everything for her. Thankfully she also finds herself eventually. Theres many plot holes and moments of cringy tropes but regardless of all the things that could turn u off this show is addicting and you will find yourself stuck to it to the end. A lot soapy, but plenty to enjoy. 8/10 for me. I love that for once we have a cdrama FL that is maturely dressed 20 something and not dressed in little girl clothes with baby voice and childish behaviors. Thank you!
OK. Hmmm. There is a lot to love about this show, and so luch to be irritated by. Without spoiling it I will avoid talking about the plot hole issues of which there are a fair few. However, a show that showed so much potential really got trashed in the end with the idiotic breakup that cdrama/tdrama writers ALWAYS seem to feel a need to throw into a script. Like come on.
This show was saved by the antics of Giraffe whatever his name is bestie of ML. He is a hoot. I wanted so much more for this show to not slide downhill like it did. It got ridiculous towards the end for the sake of dragging it out.
I’m 100% on board with this drama and I loved it so much. I mean, let’s face it, where are they getting these child actors these days??!! They are completely stealing the entire series!!! No jokes, these two little ones are the MVPs, especially Chen Chen. I love this kind of trope- quick marriage then fall in love. I love that the ML stays strong in his love once he gets there, but why oh why do these cdrama writers keep on giving us FL’s who waver, throw never ending pity parties, enough already. Be more clever, give us 2023 challenges they can face like adults instead of the same old same old. For me thats what took off a star. I need grown up women to show the viewers they can be smart. Writers are so incredibly lazy and they make women look pathetic.
Apart from that I was here for it all. Great cast and especially great kiddo’s who stole the show!
I’m on the fence. At times this gave me all the feels of watching True Beauty added in the toxicity that you get from a BoF story. I loved MG18, but that one is way too long. This followed a little better to the Japanese one I loved, minus the sketchy wannabe Harry Potter soundtrack of the jdrama lol. Overall I enjoyed this one, though would have loved a little more romance for the 2 couples. This version also lacks the qty of scenes it needed to have for the leads to really convince us of that connection. MG18 did that better. Takeaways, this isn’t the best of the versions- its good, but lacks quite a bit. FL yells and screams and beats ML way way too much. All the usual BoF tropes. but MG I think tops out, left me with all the feels despite the pyscho wedding at the end🤣🤣
Typical Kdrama action show, lots of blood and gore, seemingly impossible fight. Loads of death. Random humor spread out sufficiently to keep us all sane amidst the chaos. Inconsistent policing, and the usual not getting rid of the baddies when you have the chance, because, conscience thus more good people needlessly die…
Great match up with Lee Sangyi and Woo Do Hwan - they carried this show.
Must Watch? Hardly. Tops I’m giving this mess of a drama is 7. Come on you guys, clearly everyone in the viki comments is irritated no end all the way through. Its childish and like a bunch of teens playing office for far too many episodes and finally we get some action to the draggy stare down nothing’s happening romance, and then a pile of silly jealousy scenes, idiotic non communication and well, you know the drill. Wouldn’t watch this again if you paid me. The writers are idiotic and sadly the actors aren’t given much to work with. I’m being generous here. Truly.
Overall a well written drama, the leads for the most part are great, there are a handful of stereotypical nonsense type lines and behaviors I could do without, but overall I felt like they pulled it off well. I was more interested in their story than the side plots thrown in, tho the side stories do feed into the main so they are needed to give the show some depth. Lots of parts were skippable, sadly. I could have done without the poessiveness of the 2FL - really even tho both her and the other ex, the 2ML were both extremely possessive.. hers was irritating and entitled, never a good look. The constant “ownership” mentality thats portrayed in Asian dramas by exes who return demanding to refill the hole they left despite their own earlier choices is just plan obnoxious.
The 2ML however had a fantastic arc, one that i actually found very gripping. He also acted the role with skill. You start off thinking he is just being jealous, and then dangerous, but actually build empathy in the journey as you discover more information and I really found myself emotionally engaged in his side plot. His arc gave me a lot of empathy towards that character. So different from the snotty “I’m so beautiful” mesn girl behavior we got from the 2FL, that was just fake and shallow.
Love! Can we have more of this kind of mature dramas please. Love to Hate You, Business Proposal and now True to Love. 💕💕💕
I gave this show 9.5. I think my only thing that kept me from giving this a solid 10 was the lack of growth was missing from the ML. His moment to actually tell the FL how he felt was perfectly set up there after the final confrontation with her ex. Perfect location at Cheonggyecheon stream bridge, but his response/script given us completely underwhelming. THAT was the moment for him to show his character growth, and express clearly his feelings. That one moment with a better script woukd have strengthened this entire show.
So many momemts of tension and chemistry kind of lost too in the editing and script. Not quite sure why this show was a PG-13 either.
Not the greatest of dramas and certainly on that list of one time watch only, but it’s got some spunk. It does great at tension building the main romance, but sadly once we got there, the constant interference of 2ML became more silly than annoying. This is a cast of fairly mature actors and I’d like to see more behavior appropriate for their age when relationships are established. If they are in their 30’s and up, we gotta stop the silly childish nonsense, and accept they are going to be intimate too at some point. They are not high school kids and should know ny now how to handle commitment.
It gets uber flat and draggy as we depart from the romance creation to just a really boring story about her job that he does most of the work for anyway. The kisses stop and chemistry goes out the window. They may as well be platonic roomies by the end. 🤣
Could have been edited down to 16, theres some super draggy parts, and the title makes zero sense at all. However the friendships and the mystery that keeps you guessing is great. The evil King is a total rat lol and it’s a very satisfying ending.
