Pants ending and sadly writers will never seem to understand the power of a final episode in ratings.
So much potential in this show, like for reals, but far too many stupid scenes, wasted airtime and pointless filler plots and then rushed the resolution. Stupid.
Giving it 8/10 because the chemistry was there and the story was sweet for the mains, but oh boy was the execution and timing way off. Don’t rush endings! This story missed big time opportunity to have the leads team up to be one heck of a power couple in the industry they specialize in and it was a total miss.
I’m struggling with this. So many people love it, but I have no idea whats going on. Subtitles are way off on Viki too, so they are talking and nothing is showing and then not talking and dialogue pops up. Weird.
I've just finished it. It was my first chinese drama and I mostly loved it. In my opinion 24 episodes are too…
oh boy go watch some others, this was awful. Some of my faves are Once we are married, Lost Romance (tawainese), Falling Into You, Love Like the Galaxy. Far Far better cdramas!!!
What an absolute hot mess of a drama. Came for a nice fluffy romance. Left with the only fluff available- cat fluff. The title leads you to assume this show will have something to do with cats. And it does, for a while. The connection caused by the cat is cute and unique but drops off fast. There’s a cat cafe that miraculously seems to keep cats on the tower, off the cafe tables and counter (thank goodness) and weird fantasy world cat mask scenes, and thats about it. The rest is a hosh posh of bad writing by children and awful directing. The FL whines the entire show. Theres no romance, no affection and pecks for kisses. It’s almost as if the main leads (and supporting ones for that matter) even tolerate the sight of each other in real life, because their scenes feel forced. Despite the overload of typical cdrama tropes - some shows manage to pull it off, but nothing was going to redeem this one. You’ll skip so much to save your sanity. If I wasn’t a fan of some of the actors work I’d have dropped this, however I just kept foolishly hoping for some feel good scenes, with chemistry to make me feel like all the angst was worth it. It never showed up. Good luck if you feel like trying it out.
Cute sweet story with a rushed ending sadly, still, worth the watch. I was not a fan of the 5 yr old bob during High School. FL looked way too young in all those scenes and it was hard to believe that was her best look, which they proved in the present day scenes, when she finally looked the age she needed to portray. Not her fault, hair & makeup perhaps producers. My only irritation really. This show did need some affection at the end, sadly they missed that mark - I had thought they could have had the 2 of them at the end of the comments. It would have been a good surprise/nice touch for the viewers. Sometimes I think these directors don’t understand the power of the final few minutes of a show. Hit the right mark for the audience, they’ll forget the flaws in the show if you give them a big wow and all the feels at the end. Just sayin’ 😉
I think her mother didn't live her life enough when she was young, otherwise I can't explain why she is so possessive…
seems to be a reoccurring theme amongst chinese moms in dramas. Uber possesive, controlling, treat them like a child who can’t make good decisions, even if they are in their 30’s, its me or him type attitude. Its so exhausting and stupid.
I suspect the impatient “skippers” are the ones bored. Skipping parts mean you miss pivotal dialogue and all the emotion expressed by the actors through behavior, facial expressions and script. You take that out of this show, and yes people will have lost the whole point. This is not a show you can skip.
Just to balance out all the negative comments below... I really enjoy this drama, and I encourage you to try it…
I loved this show, and I don’t think you could say it’s wasn’t romantic at all. The chemistry was evident, and the hints all added to the feels of the show. There is romance and it ends sweetly. It’s just not the dominant genre.
I gave this 7.5/10. I have been desperately waiting for this one, the trailer portrayed a series focused on the Seoul fashion industry that looked to be high energy with a pace to match. While most of the expectations are met, it was a surprise at how slow the pacing was. Often it lacked the gusto I kind of expected. There is plenty of chemistry amongst the leads, and I loved the 4 friends, who each hold a career within the fashion world. I watched with my daughter who is training as a designer, and we both had hoped for a lot more “something” (she quit this after 4 episodes). Perhaps it was too long, could have made for a fabulous movie length??? Not sure. I’m not certain there was a point to the 2ML and that whole relationship other than really a filler or perhaps to get you to feel some angst that ML might miss his chance, but the writers failed here in giving us any reason to care. Overall, I enjoyed most of it. I wouldn’t rewatch, its not comparable to the energy of Business Proposal, and I had hoped it would have been right up there. I’m not sure it would be anywhere high up in a list to recommend it either, as someone else mentioned in the comments, unless they had some kind of vague interest in the fashion industry.
While I agree that final episode was a major shock to the system after the incredibly clever first 15 episodes AND I believe the ending of the novel is the direction this show should have taken, I can’t quite bring myself to allow the odd way they took this to discredit the genius acting, script and OST that made Reborn Rich what it was. I’ll still give it a 10/10 because all of those elements were there right through to the very end.
My only issue, the way they tied that up was far too rushed. The pacing of ep 16 was more hurried than the previous 15. This show needed at least one more (or 2) to ensure the direction they took it, felt believable and solid.
Take this for what it is, a melodramatic older Tawainese romance that is trope heavy. It’ll give you a good laugh (when it probably isn’t intended to be funny) and an eye roll or two. But this incredibly “70s looking styling, and over promoted kiwi fruit” TV series is watchable and has a satisfying ending. If there was ever a strong argument for 2L to win the girl it is this one.
Subtitles are a mess on Viki. I appreciate that people volunteer to do this, so don’t jump on me. The problem is Viki needs more editors to fix the English so it flows properly. Majority of thr subs are broken English, or phrased wrong so the meaning is misunderstood. This is a massive disservice when this is such a huge part of a viewers enjoyment of a foreign show. I wish Viki would at least employ some qualified editors to fix/review the sub work.
Not a fan of the cliffhanger ending but as long as Season 2 is a sure bet, then I good.
Never draggy and all the crew on this show is great. Great relationship buidling and love the collab between all the Emergancy services.
