Here's an interesting stat for you all about DISNEY+, and why every Kdrama fan should boycott them! There are 195…
Clearly you don’t want to subscribe to anything but Netflix, but guess what more variety leads to better shows - competition keeps the prices down. Disney+ can be accessed anywhere in the world with a good vpn which I use. next.
Ok that was…… interesting. Not sure what actually happened there in the end, but show is a bit whack, editing occasionally choppy but theres some eye candy x republican era = tolerable. Nowhere near any kind of high rating for me.
What on earth is wrong with people writing those reviews at the top! If you’re familiar with jdramas, at all, you’ll know they’re generally quirky and slighty odd, and thats exactly why I love them.
HOWEVER, the last 3 jdrama collabs with Koreans, with actors from Korea appearing ina major japanese production have been top tier. Eye Love You, What Comes After Love and now this. Well done, and may you continue to collab.
I ended up dropping this which was hard, I love both the leads so much. Can’t really put my finger on it, yes its slow, but just didn’t grab my attention or make me care. Thats the job of the writer/director.
What on earth happened? First episode was fire and it went downhill from there.
The cooking competition especially with the Ming was boring and every reaction to eating her food got a bit ridiculous. Could have cut so much of those scenes and given us a whole episode in present day. The ending was ridiculously rushed. Just gave is lazy holes to wrap it up fast. Lacking in decent screen writers, not sure why everyone has been raving this show, it ended up plain mid.
I’m sitting on the fence here and giving it a solid 8.5, but I ended up skipping a lot of scenes here. Especially the sister scenes, who was a complete idiot for so long, there was no coming back in empathy for at all. Oddly I did have some hopes for her and the crazy emporer but it just was poorly written -last few episodes were rushed and chaotic with quite a flat ending. I don’t know how China keeps up, they making a million a minute of these historical dramas and I don’t have the energy to watch that many of them, especially at 38 long episodes like this one.
They still have old tired revenge plots, and its boring.
The acting was great from most of them evil Susha queen not so much, very flat.
Absolutely clever and stunning drama, with great acting all around. Lusi is the queen, and she keeps getting better. After all of her health issues its good to see her back again. Yes this show wasn’t 100% on point, sadly, I had hoped I could score this a 10, but it has far too many sub plots that got drawn out and disinteresting. I skipped a fair amount. It lacked a bit of punch in resolutions, and the family still felt disjointed at the end. Don’t TELL us the resolution—SHOW us.
Overall though a stellar cdrama, and its productions like this, Hidden Love, First Frost etc that show us the tide can turn from silly tropey cdramas - to big players in the game. I’m tired of Kdramas always been so depressing and melodramatic-so I’m grateful China has stepped up its drama game.
I am surprised Netflix has not picked up Love's Ambition.
Stop expecting a subscription to Netflix will get you all the dramas you want. Theres many in this biz, and as such you have to subscribe to more than one. You’re truly missing out if you are a Netflix only. Of course its not cheap to have multiple but I will support these kinds of dramas being made and competition in the markets reaps MORE and better content.
I know it was the whole premise that she lost ten yrs by her decision, blah blah, and it was a cute show. I wish there had been scenes where they actually discussed what his rebellion actually was and why she let him go, how she felt. Those missing scenes we can assume happened but when they are so pivotal to the plot we miss the healing part. Very short and I guess we should be grateful for that. 7.5.
For romance and plenty of kisses it hit the nail on the head, for weird plot and daft tropes you just can’t take it too seriously. For the eye candy and viki comments people stuck around lol. At best this is a 7.
For 90% of this show I was wondering what on earth happened to the ML, who is usually throwing his weight around red flagging as a ML left right and center - while then showing his softer side…. he was giving PG ML almosr the entire time lol.
Cute short, that contains zero step family of the FL trying to murder or destroy FL, and no gangster’s kidnapping a billion times. If it hadn’t been for the heavily make up’d FL I’d have forgotten I was even watching a short.

Also, I need chocolate. The fancy kind.

If that is your thing you’ll enjoy the show. There is no other plot than this is how ML processes hate and revenge.
Also that “house” is not a house, its a billion bedroom hotel for sure irl. Quit gaslighting us, no one lives in that as a house.

Super cute.
