We are on the exact same page. For God's sake, who was the Einstein who thought about pairing the Main Leads if…
I was the one who said that and for these reasons š
š If the leads truly hated each other in the past, one of them likely wouldnāt have signed on for the drama in the first place. But they did. I really donāt think they knew each other at all before this project.
š If they started disliking each otherĀ afterĀ filming began, then, as Iāve mentioned before, why would they go out of their way to spend time together off-set?
What I believe is that either UJW is being directed to act a certain way, or sheās so disappointed with how things have developed that she just canāt bring herself to express those emotions genuinely on screen.
As I wrote before, it seems like GS has more affection, feelings, love and joy for the brewery, and her brothers…
Oh no! My comment was directed at other commenters who keep claiming that the actors donāt get along and that their supposed mutual dislike is affecting their on-screen chemistry, not at you.
As I wrote before, it seems like GS has more affection, feelings, love and joy for the brewery, and her brothers…
I'm all for offering constructive criticism of the writing, directing, or acting in any ongoing drama, and I genuinely enjoy hearing different perspectives. In fact, I've noticed flaws in the main leads' acting in this drama at several spots as well. However, it doesn't sit right with me when some people extend that criticism to the actors' real lives, especially when we're talking about such experienced middle-age actors.
In TV dramas, the writer usually has the most control over the final product, so theyāre naturally the first in line for criticism, followed by the director. A skilled writer and director can elevate less than average actors, while weak writing and direction can leave even decent actors struggling.

I'll add one more point. Both Uhm Ji-won and Ahn Jae-wook are the type of actors who adhere closely to the directorās and writerās vision, with little to no improvisation. Their acting style is more structured than spontaneous, so itās more likely that theyāre simply following instructions rather than injecting their own interpretations into the drama.
You said it well!! I fully agree with her - either they chose the wrong actress or the writer meant it to be that…
This conversation, for me, isnāt just about affirming my point of view, itās about trying to understand the situation with more nuance. I respect your intuition, and I agree that lived experience and gut feelings can be valuable in understanding complex situations. But intuition is still only part of the picture. Without grounding it in concrete evidence, there might br risk of drawing dramatic conclusions from what might be completely non-dramatic situation.
I understand that you may have seen similar patterns before, but this situation also involves important variables like personality types, behavioral patterns, health status, and past connections that arenāt always visible at first glance. Without those details I fear you might unintentionally read too much into things.
For instance, photos and videos shared by UJW clearly show that theyāve spent time together off-camera and outside of work. People who genuinely dislike each other donāt usually choose to hang out privately, especially not someone like AJW, who has very limited free time right now, given his family and professional obligations. At the very least, I think they've developed ease and comfort between them, even if theyāre keeping things low-key and professional.
As for their on-screen chemistry, I truly believe this is due to exhaustion and the increasingly tiring script. The writing was much stronger earlier and their chemistry was also better. It doesnāt feel right to reduce that to perceived personal dislike.
I just hope we donāt continue speculating in ways that could turn into rumors. It wouldnāt be fair to either of them. And if youāre genuinely curious, Iād be happy to help fill in some gaps because I do have more context and concrete information that might shift how you're seeing things. I just think right now, the situation is being read too heavily and unfairly.

I'm actually the one who's surprised that just because a drama didn't live up to its initial potential, some people are quick to push theories like claiming the leads have no chemistry because they dislike each other in real life. I find it particularly unfair and unpalatable when blame is placed solely on the female lead in this regard.
Even the most talented actors can have hits and misses, especially when the writing lacks direction and scripts are being handed out at the last minute. Despite that, UJW has had some genuinely great moments in this series. Sheās an experienced actress who has worked professionally with many married actors in the past, including the spouses or partners of her own friends. The same goes for AJWās wife, who performs romantic scenes with other male actors, even friends of her husband on stage.
Seasoned actors, especially those with years in the industry, donāt let personal feelings interfere with their performances. For them, a romantic scene carries no more sentimental weight than an action sequence. And in this case, it's not even clear whether supposed real-life tension actually exists.
Letās keep discussions about actorsā personal lives out of this space. We only see a small part of who they are, and spreading rumors based on speculation does no good, for anyone.
Here you can see little more glimpse of BTS of the drama. I hope it will be helpful.

I totally share your frustration with how this once promising series has taken worse turn. I've been holding on and continuing to watch, but Iād like to kindly push back on one assumption. That is blaming the lack of chemistry on supposed real-life dislike between the lead actors. Unless thereās credible evidence to support that claim, it feels unfair.
The real issue here is with the writing and direction. It's clear the writer has veered away from the original vision for the story and that shift has nothing to do with the 4 eps extension.
If the male and female leads genuinely disliked each other, why would they socialize off-set, like going golfing (atleast twice) or eating out?
I donāt think UJW deserves any blame for the perceived lack of chemistry. We are justly frustrated as viewers, but imagine how the actors must feel having to bring life and heart to a plot that has become so absurd. Theyāre trying their best with what theyāve been given.
Dear Hongrang? It was filmed in 2024 as a pre-produced drama. UJW is always busy with various activities throughout the year, and she seems to be making the most of every opportunity that comes her way.
Weekend dramas can be especially demanding, often requiring actors to work with scripts given at the last minute. I hope that after some rest, she receives a script truly worthy of her talent.
Her real personality is absolutely lovely, so this drama could be a wonderful opportunity for her to showcase a different side of herself. Itās unfortunate that the writer (or ghostwriter?) ended up dragging what could have been a great drama down.
Still, I canāt help but be greedy. I want to see UJW in more projects soon. š
Iāve seen Jiwon in non-villainous roles as well, and she always delivers. Sheās used to working with stronger directors and screenwriters, so this role might be more confusing (due to lack of logic) for her. On top of that, sheās been filming non-stop for eight months and has the most screen time, so exhaustion is also affecting her . Itās possible sheās starting to feel disconnected from her character.
Can't agree more. I still just can't see the love in her but instead being dragged along. Like you, I'd love to…
Hey hey, we've got a bit of hope! Jiwon posted a picture from the set on her Instagram story. She was in Dong Seok's room. š¤ She was wearing her usual work outfit, so it seems like sheāll be going to his room again. Not sure if itās for a breakup or something else, but still... itās something š
There was initial awkwardness between them, most likely due to an unexpected connection between them. But looks like they've got over it. I believe we'll get even more tidbits of them hanging out together in upcoming days. KBS is stingy with the BTS so I'm not expecting them to upload more of it. Thanks to UJW we've got to see the BTS of the hair grabbing scene. š I hope she could show us more.
I have wondered the last couple of days if LX Group is actually her family company and he became President or…
Korean actor couples always joke like this and warn their lovers to not get too close to their co-stars. I don't find such jokes very funny but nothing out of line either. I think it's very human to get a little jealous while seeing one's(even actors') lover act out romance with other people. Good people can always use their common sense to subdue feeling of jealousy in such situation. Many actors say that they don't watch their work with their lovers or their lovers never watch their works. It's a good way of adjusting with a partner too. If you can't stand it then don't see it. I personally don't know JKH so can't say anything about his feelings with surity. š I won't assume anything from snippet of an interview.

You're welcome ! š I try to stay as factual as possible but my jumbled memory(due to excessive intake of info) is not always helpful. So its relief when someone double-checks these trivias.
