If you are talking about Yukee Chan, she acted really well in Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre (2019). HSDSS is a drama that has remade so many times, I lost count. But her version of Zhao Min was one of the best I that have seen.

Her role in MTC could have been a mis-cast. Perhaps she is more suitable for roles that more lively, like that of Zhao Min in HSDSS.

She has a modern drama that is airing right now, and she seems to be doing ok there as well. So, her role in MTC could be a mis-cast, meaning it is possible that her facial expressions are not suitable for sad and melancholic roles.

I think for modern dramas, she can move away from doing rom-com type of drama. Some people still view YAMG as a rom-com drama, even though there is not all that much humour. She can take on more serious roles like lawyers, police inspector, adventurer, doctor, etc..

I don't think she will ever stop doing historical/Xianxia type of dramas. She always looks amazing in those historical constumes, and she is one of the few top actresses to can act fighting roles. After TLB, TBW and LOA, there will always be demand for her in these kinds of dramas. China now has many good female writers who churn out more female-centric type of historical novels; she would love to act in drama adaptations of these novels.

For 2022, she can always film one modern drama, followed by a historical/Xianxia drama. Her dramas always seem to make it to airing pretty fast. So, we may still be able to watch two of her new dramas next year.

Wow! You are quite easy to please. Unfortunately, lots of viewers, especially those in China, they have very high expectations. They play lots of video games, and some of those have great CGI, so they expect a high budget drama to be the same.

We know that the story is good. And the cast will deliver on acting. To get massive reception in China, the CGI will need to be as good as some recent Xianxia dramas. They will certainly be expecting the CGI to be better than Ten Miles.

Both the MTC and Winter Games will be over soon. TBW has a very capable team. And now with so much time, even the CGI should be good. TBW should not disappoint us.

It does not have to be zero romance, just that romance is not the main focus (like in YAMG). Just a pinch of it, while other elements are more important (crime solving, medical, adventure, etc).

It is not a matter of following someone's footstep. It is to widen her acting range. Not just in Cdramas, lots of korean actresses are doing the same. This way, she can take on different kinds of roles and have more acting opportunities.

No conflict of interests. WeTV is a streaming platform. As long as she does not do any adverstisement for another platform, there is no conflict of interest. The contract with Youku that aslinn is referring to has to do with the two dramas that she signed up for (TBW and LOA).

Furthermore, there is unconfirmed news that TBW will also be streamed on Tencent's platform, which will surely include WeTV. So, indirectly, she will be promoting WeTV.

Yes, the executives are Youku are smart. I saw an online article which says that Weibo, their top social media platform, is flooded with comments or news about the Winter Games. I like the way you described it. Any promotional material released now will just be buried by the Winter Games.

The Chinese are now on an emotional high. An American-born-Chinese girl, Eileen Gu, who decided to represent China instead of the USA, has just won a Gold medal for China this morning. No point fighting that kind of emotion. People there will be talking about her for the next few days, as she has two more events coming up.

That is true. They did not promise that it will definitely be out in Feb. Anyway, the Winter Games have just gone underway in China. If TBW is a small production, not much harm will be done, even if it does badly. But, TBW is a big production, so the risk is higher. They will not want to go head to head with the Games. I think they would rather take the time to perfect the CGI, see how long that takes, before committing themselves to a specific airing date.

If all goes well, airing after the Games will make a lot of sense.

For an example in the drama, look at E6, just before the 4 min mark, when Li Changge bow to say goodbye to those soldiers, she did it with her left hand over her right, as a guy during those times would do. Lots of other examples of this practice in TLB.

Not sure. I first came to know about it while watching a BTS scene in a historical drama. So under normal circumstances, when a male Chinese greets others, he places his left hand over his left. A woman will do the opposite, right over left. If this is not observed, it is a sign of disrespect. So during those ancient times, this must be one of very first etiquettes that young children of different gender must be taught, so that they will bow correctly.

During a Chinese funeral, the hands are reversed, with right over left for the males. So when an emperor dies, all the male ministers will bow with right hand over their left, when they pay their respects.

Nox, we were expecting TBW to air in Jan. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Perhaps Youku is just not ready in Jan. Now, we are just hoping that it would be in Feb. But, there is nothing official. I think we will need to wait till the Winter Games are over, before we see anything official on the airing date. An earlier notice had said it has been scheduled for 1st Q 2022. Another tweet said tentative date is in Feb 2022. But so far, no official airing date has been given. so we just need to wait patiently.
