I guess I am a sucker for Gu Man novel with YAMG and have to read it again. In epilogue 9 JJ explained to Sister…
What you said is spot on about Reba and her career and how that is mirrored in QJJ in YAMG. Reba does lots of commercials. Those have very short shelf life. People will soon forget. And just as QJJ sees herself as an actress and not a variety show host, Reba sees herself as an actress and not keep participating in variety shows, even if doing those shows can bring in good money. Many years from now, when people look back at Reba's career, people will only care about how good an actress she is, how many acting awards she has won. And these are also the things she cares about.
Same for YY. He probably does not want to be seen as a 'game specialist'. He will want to excel in historical dramas, to show the wide range of his acting abilities.
There are now about 2.64B views for YAMG. We continue to add 10M views every hour, 240M views every 24 hours. Honestly, this is a very high rate of increase. To be realistic, it may not be sustainable, once the euphoria of the final 6 episodes wears off in China. I am not trying to pour water on everyone's hope, but want us to temper our hope with reality. If we can hit 3B by Friday or Satursday, this is already a very good performance. If we can hit 3B by Thursday, it will be super performance.
I hope OATH OF LOVE create the same magic But I am worried, tat series has too much anger and misunderstanding.…
They are two very different kinds of drama, so you need not worry about TOOL at all. Besides, the leads there are big stars, with very big fan bases in China and worldwide. If viewership count is purely a number game to see which drama has more fans, than TOOL will beat YAMG because the combined power of Yang Zi and XZ are bigger than Reba and Yang Yang.
You mentioned, TOOL has lots of anger and misunderstanding, and with that, presumably some breakups, while here in YAMG, once QJJ and YT became a couple, there is hardly any misunderstanding and breakup. You are a little afraid how viewers will react to TOOL.
I think it all depends on the nature, frequency and how long those breakups last. If they have the same kind of misunderstanding again and again, viewers may not like it. Recycling of the same misunderstanding is not a good plot device at all. Even creating totally new kind of misunderstanding may not be too good, as viewers may feel that the screenwriter lacks creativity and is merely using misunderstanding after misunderstanding to prolong a series.
But a short-lived misunderstanding that is quickly cleared up is a good plot device, as sometimes in real life, in the process of clearing up a misunderstanding, a couple can learn to understand each other better, and form stronger bond after that. And having sadness is a drama is also not a bad thing. When viewers can relate to the sadness, they can form stronger bond with a character and actually enjoy a drama more, even if they need to cry more.
I do not know the storyline for TOOL, what plot devices they will use. But I am prepared to bet that the storyline and the screenwriting will be good. Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan are big stars. They will not sign up for that project, if the storyline is not good. And I do believe that they will do for TOOL, what Reba and Yang Yang did for YAMG.
In the end, as viewers, I think we will be able to enjoy both dramas. You need not worry too much about TOOL.
Can you give me a link? I can't open the link I have before to see the views.
The number of views you gave is similar to the one I find, by clicking on the Tencent Video app above. So, the two sources are tracking roughly the same number of views
Oh, when Dilraba filmed this series, she was 28. But of course, by the time the drama is aired, she turned 29.
She was choses to play this role for two reasons. One, she bore a physically resemblance to the Li Changge in the manhua, despite the age difference. The only between the Li Changge in the drama and the one in the manhua is the size difference. Dilraba is of course bigger than the Li Changge in the manhua.
2nd reason why she was chosen was that both the producer and director felt that she will be the right actress to play the role.
To narrow the age gap between the actress and the character, she was asked to eat more and make her cheek fatter, so that she will appear younger. And she was constantly reminded by the production team how to behave like a 14-15 year old girl.
I think a great job, because, behaviourally, she was the Li Changge in the manhua. When they did the filming for this drama, she had the script on one side and the manhua, so that she will portry the character as close to the manhua as is possible.
Hi everyone. Like a few of you, just finished YAMG, so coming here to enjoy another great drama with all of you. I watched Yang Zi in Noble Aspirations 1 and 2 some time back, and XZ in The Untamed, and Jade Dynasty. Enjoyed all their performances. Could not watch more of their dramas because of limited time, and sometimes due to a mis-match of tastes.
I usually do not like to watch dramas that are too similar (will be a waste of time), but YAMG and TOOL are totally different dramas. One has gaming, a female successful celebrity actress, an aerospace engineer who is facing life issues, that drama does not have too much sadness. Here, the female lead is a musician, male lead is a doctor, and I can tell from the trailer, the female lead will be facing many life issues. So, two rather different dramas in terms of plot and storyline. Comparing them will be like comparing apples and oranges.
The only similarity between the two dramas? Both have leads that are highly popular in China and internationally. I am cool with that, because I am not a fan of a specific actor or actress. As long as a drama is good, it matches my taste, I watch.
I will join in the discussion only if I feel that this is a mature forum where people are allowed to express genuine opinions. And I do have the feeling that this forum will be like that. If I am proven wrong, I will not take any offence. I will just watch the drama quietly and move on.
If they apply the same rule across all dramas, this is quite fair. I am not sure how many of Reba and Yang Yang…
In that case difficult to compare with Joy of Life too, since it also aired on iQiyi. I watched that drama too, so I know just how good it is. But comparing a modern drama with a historical drama is always very challenging. They are two different genres altogether.
In any case, Tencent will always reveal some kind of official viewership count later and then rank all the dramas on their list. They will do this for 2nd half of 2021, when all of the drama they wish to air from now till December have finished their runs. Right now, at best, all these viewership counts can only be taken as mere indication of their popularity in China.
How many viewer? For some reason I can't access it..And rating up to 8.7 :)
It is currently at 2.59B views. But this may not be accurate, because of the crash last night. I use the word 'may' because I am not 100% sure. In theory, a crash would mean overwhelming viewership. Yet, when you look at 2.59B views, it just does not look right. So, best to ignore current view count. The drama is still showing in China, for those who did to buy the fast track there. So, the number will keep changing, all the way till next week.
Very lovely drama. Very lovely chemistry between Reba and Yang Yang. We saw lovely chemistry between Reba and Wu Lei in TLB, and now between Reba and Yang Yang. It really does show she is capable of working well with different male co-stars, able to make them feel comfortable acting out all those interaction scenes with her.
If they apply the same rule across all dramas, this is quite fair. I am not sure how many of Reba and Yang Yang…
That is very true. No way some dramas can get ridiculous number like 25B views. Or Ten Miles of Peach Blossom, with 50B views. Fans in China must have done 5-6 rewatch. I just wonder, do some actor/actresses even pay their fans to do rewatch?? Just to make themselves look very popular and command higher pay for their next dramas??
If they apply the same rule across all dramas, this is quite fair. I am not sure how many of Reba and Yang Yang…
Actually, if rewatch counts in China, it is quite easy to cheat. Actors and actresses with strong fan base, their fans can easily band together and do multiple rewatch to boost the viewership. They do not even need to do actual rewatch. Just click the play button, and do something else, while they let their PC run. So easy for them to support their favourite actors and actresses.
Im just read this article at weibo, rewatch was also count as new view count too, but with term that rewatch must…
If they apply the same rule across all dramas, this is quite fair. I am not sure how many of Reba and Yang Yang fans in China will rewatch, though. They understand Mandarin, so watching once could be enough for most people there. But we are international viewers. Sometimes we need to watch twice just to catch everything. Also, I am not even sure our views count. At this moment, I am under the impression that only views in China count

I read about the Mikimoto pearl in another article. The pearls could in one of the earings that she wore.
I am watching something else, while waiting for TOOL.
