I did not watch King's Avatar, so here is an honest question. What is the difference? What makes YAMG extremely…
No no. Don't do it now, if understanding Mandarin and reading Chinese is a challenge. Yes, after YAMG, when you have plenty of time, looking for another good drama, you can try that
Raba has a lot of anti n haters. Each time her drama is aired, there are water army voting it down like they did…
Among female actresses, Reba is a very popular target for haters and anti-fans. She is seen as a constant threat to their favourite actress. They see her in more commercials all over China (compared to their favourite actress). They see her getting roles which they think should go to their favourite actress.
And because she is not an ethnic Chinese, many of them have added reason to hate her. They will not admit it, but some of these anti-fans are not just anti-Reba, but are racists who are anti non-Han Chinese actress.
For them to rate her dramas 1 or 2 out of 10 does not hurt their conscience one bit. They take great pleasure.
The part about them forming a 'formidable military partnership' was a bad summary (whoever who wrote it). Otherwise,…
Ok. I want to agree with you. About them spending less time together, compared to other dramas. But, that is fully intentional. They deliberately want to understate romance component and make the character development of LCG more important. Because, the title of the original manhua is actually Changge Xing. And the focus of the manhua was really on LCG's journey, forced upon her by the event in E2. Changge Xing, when translated into English means Changge's journey.
So, the two screenwriters want to make sure that viewers will always view her journey as the primary focus, and not her romance with AS.
The nature of their relationship is quite unique, if viewed against the backdrop of those times. During Tang Dynasty time, as I mentioned previously, most Tang Princesses get married off in some marriage alliance. We saw this happened to Princess Yicheng. Princess Leyan almost became a political bride. But, Li Changge managed to escape that fate (or destiny) because of her background in martial arts, war strategies, and her courageous personality.
In modern dramas, because of changing values, they cannot portray female leads to be weak. But in most historical Chinese dramas of Tang Dynasty era or any ancient Chinese era, the female leads are never this smart, or courageous, or independent. Or male lead this trusting of the female lead. They will always make the FL somehow need the ML to be around her, as if she needs a constant bodyguard.
But not so for LCG. Her smartness and courage combined with AS's trusting personality does make their relationship stand out in historical Cdramas. The writers wrote LCG to be smart and brave enough to save AS, as much as he is brave and smart enough to save her. This, we saw very clearly in E48, when LCG planned and organised the rescue of AS. She did not do it all alone, but she was clearly the architect behind the plot.
I did not watch King's Avatar, so here is an honest question. What is the difference? What makes YAMG extremely…
U can try and search if there is a site somewhere that has English subs for Remembrance of things past. I was told they speak Mandarin with northern accent. I could understand it, once I got used to their accent. Especially because Chinese subs are provided.
I went to the MDL page of that drama, and folks there seem to imply there are English subs somewhere. All the episodes are out, so you can pretty much binge watch
There are no big name actors/actresses there. None in the same league as Reba or YY. There are no visual treats. But the acting and storyline is quite nice.
YAMG is currently 2nd place on Douban just behind Crime Crackdown which is getting really good reviews. The current…
Some of the scenes from the last 12 episodes will stand the test of time. They might become compulsory clips for all new drama school students to watch, as part of their course material. Some of the kissing scenes will beat those from Kdramas.
Hahaha .... that's not much of a reading to be honest. It's like doing fan service but not saying much.🤣🤣🤣🤣
I doubt she can really read those tarot cards. She sounds more like a comedian, out to provide some light entertainment in return for some money. You are so good with your words, you can do a better job than her
Ah! You pipped me to the post! I was just watching this and having a good laugh!
Exactly! And $20 isn't much. 10 fans come together, that means only two US dollars a person (I assume she charge in US Dollar, because she speaks with an American accent). Not expensive for some light entertainment.
Yes, you are indeed correct. I love this drama very much, so I always hang around, see if there are any new viewers who do not understand anything, and try to help them understand, so that they will also learn to love this drama as much as all of us do.
Are you all ready for bare chested YT ... i mean YY?Have u seen the BTS of the next bed scene? 🤣🤣🤣YY:…
If there is such a scene, make sure you watch it without your young children nearby. Otherwise, the next time they see their father's shirt being torn, they expect to see a little brother or sister in 9 months
Hopefully those YY and ZS shippers will give this drama a try. Lots of them won't watch any of YY dramas because…
Noted. Centauri mentioned that you were referring to Zheng Shuang, and I was kind of suprised cause I thought ZS's career is just about gone. Didn't expect she still has fans around who are asking people not watch YY dramas.
I didn't really feel sorry for her. She is more than just a manager to QJJ. More like an older sister (大姐),…
Oh? I thought you were really feeling sorry for her. For me, apart from getting new acting roles or endorsement deals for QJJ, the happiest thing for her would be to see the two of them together.
The part about them forming a 'formidable military partnership' was a bad summary (whoever who wrote it). Otherwise,…
Ok, compared to that Japanese drama, the romance here is slightly different. I think the romance in TLB is characterised by trust and open communication and willingness to die for each other.
That tree trunk scene in E49 summarises their relationship really well. In the conversation, you can see that they were willing to die for each other. And they expect open communication from each other. When AS mentioned about some conversations he had with General Li Jing, and he forgot to mention this to LCG, you can tell she was not happy about it and he had to apologise. So, instead of trying to read each other's mind, they prefered to have open communication and mutual trust and respect.
That is why, in the final scene, you do not see them together. They each trust the other party to be able to take care of himself/herself. And they have that eagle rely messages from one to the other, should help is needed.
Their relationship has a very 21st century feel to it, where the wife need not be homebound. She can go to work at a different place from her husband, but, at the end of the day or a short period of time, they will be reunited. After all, they promised each other, in this life, it is enough just to have you.
With regard to the romance between LCG and AS, what are the small issues that you could not get over with??
Out of the entire thing I probably feel sorry for JJ's manager the most since she has to deal with these two goofballs…
I didn't really feel sorry for her. She is more than just a manager to QJJ. More like an older sister (大姐), always worried whether JJ has found a boyfriend. So, she must be very happy they got together and later get married. They are all very close, so we will expect them to visit each other's homes very frequently, to have meals and play that game together.
I did not watch King's Avatar, so here is an honest question. What is the difference? What makes YAMG extremely…
I am not so much into e-sports. But someone here recommended this drama called "Remembrance of Things Past". There are no big stars in that drama, but the story is quite good. Lots of friendship, some amount of romance and slightly more sadness than YAMG, and the acting is reasonably good. I did enjoy it, while waiting for YAMG to air tonight.
Unfortunately, I don't think it has English substitles. My Mandarin is ok to understand most of it. Rest, I just guessed by looking at their facial expressions.
If I am not wrong, there is no time difference between Malaysia and Beijing. Wherever you are, just google, "Time in Beijing". If it is the same as Malaysia, then there is no time difference.
Hahaha.... this is a very funny comparison. I couldn't help laughing out loud and thankfully no one bears witness…
They had so many kisses, so must have had many rehearsals for all the kisses. After a while, they will know how to navigate those tongues in each other's mouths, for the best kisses.
Hahaha.... this is a very funny comparison. I couldn't help laughing out loud and thankfully no one bears witness…
Hah. I think you left the page of TLB when I just joined. If you were there from mid May onward right till end of June/July, you would have read some of my funnier comments. Early on in that page, I had to feel my way around. Not sure if the folks there appreciate my brand of humour. Later, when people got used to my style and knew that I was not always that serious, they caught on to my brand of humour.
The part about them forming a 'formidable military partnership' was a bad summary (whoever who wrote it). Otherwise,…
They did fight against their common enemies. But, yes, there were indeed insufficient scenes of them fighting together to say that their was any kind of partnership.
Regarding romance, you will need to remember this. Because you did ask for time line and I mentioned to you that in E1, LCG was only 14. And, having watched the drama, you would have realised that she was brought up as a tomboy. Now, since you read up on Tang Dynasty, you might also have read up about marriage alliances. In those days, Tang Princess were brought up to get married off when they were about 14-15 years of age. Yet, LCG was never brought up to do that. Instead of learning music and dance, etc., she instead learned about military strategies, horse riding, shooting arrows and martial arts.
This is why LCG took such a long time to warm up to AS. And being a tomboy also made her more independent than a typical princess. A very good contrast would be Princess Leyan. She was brought up more like a typical Tang Princess.
So, being a highly independent lady, we cannot expect her romance with Ashile Sun to be a 'normal' romance. Their romance is more of a mature kind, full of mutual trust, understanding and respect. And although we did not get any mouth-to-mouth kisses between LCG and AS, their body language is great. And their many one-on-one dialogue is totally sweet. Sometimes, you might miss all those, if you are not a careful viewer. Many of us have had to watch many times, before getting many of those stuff (because, we were too focused on the subtitles).
The person who recommended you to watch TLB likely thought that you might appreciate this sort of story line. Especially, if you like female leads to be strong and independent, yet still capable of loving the male lead.
The LCG character is rather unique in Cdramas. It will be very difficult for you to find a female lead that is this clever, this talented, this courageous. And pair that up with a great male character Ashile Sun that is so loving and protective, yet not wanting to force his will on her, many of us were charmed by their unique romance.
The villain was not as charismatic as LCG, but we see many parallels between her and LCG. Both had very difficult childhood. The villain was married off to the grasslands when young. And she had one husband after another (all of which she killled, in the drama, but in history, she was a real person and I doubt she killed all that many husbands). Likewise, LCG had a difficult childhood because of the Xuanwu Gate incident. So, both the two ladies had equally difficult childhood. Yet, one chose to remain evil righ till the end, and LCG chose to give up her selfish desire for revenge, to seek the greater good of the Tang Dynasty. We felt this contrast was great, showing us the difference between making the right choices and wrong choices in life.
And because she is not an ethnic Chinese, many of them have added reason to hate her. They will not admit it, but some of these anti-fans are not just anti-Reba, but are racists who are anti non-Han Chinese actress.
