Hello there! I had read the novel almost a year ago, I am now re-reading it and waiting for the drama! Can't wait…
I will see if I can find the time. Gu Man is both the author of the novel and the screenwriter for the drama? If so, story wise the drama is going to follow the novel. A novel is two dimensional and 'flat'; we will need to imagine all the emotion. Drama is multi-dimensional (with real people, music and all). Drama is always going to trump novel, as long as the casting is well done.

So many people here already said casting is perfect.

Acting wise, I don't see how anything can go wrong. Dilraba is a celebrity playing a celebrity. This is Yang Yang's 2nd gaming drama. The are both very very good actors. It will take massive acting failure to foul this one up, and I just don't see how is possible.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
My notes of Episode 1 summary:Chang Ge's mother warns Li Shimin about Crown Prince's plans (We later on find out…
This is very true! The playful, carefree smiling Changge is gone after the 1st episode. But I am glad that the drama ended with Changge at the grasslands, not with the same smile perhaps, but a more matured look of contentment, and her narration that encapsulates the change of her Tao, from wanting only what is good for herself to what is good for her country. She can live a carefree life with the man she loves.

honestly, hao du and leyan stole the show for me
Although most of us here prefer Li Changge and and Ashile Sun, we are open to people who prefer Hao Du and Leyan. It is not a competition. And the main focus of the drama is to see the character growth of all the various characters in the drama.

Amazing that both of you have read the novel. I will be learning from the two of you. I mean, I looking at how the two of you will analyse the drama, once it airs

I love this topic! Very light hearted and fun! My ranking on costume and hair styling:1. Ashile Sun (tribal wear)…
So sorry. This post got lost so many days and I did not get to respond to it till now. In the manhua, Shiba will have a headgear that made her look rather charming. Most drawings the manhua have her wearing that headgear. I think it was indeed design choice by the drama team not to have her in her armour and that headgear that she wore in the manhua. Maybe they felt that it was too complicated, she was not a major character in the drama, and they gave a rather simple costome to wear.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
Finding her path (E29-30)The grasslands arc (E15-E25) were busy times for Changge. Saving Li Si Min, saving the…
Neither do I! And I totally agree with you! 1000%. If she had done nothing and just stayed at that Liuyun Temple and meditate in front of that large calligraphy, Du Ruhui would have been killed by all the soldiers led by Lady Jinse.

It was Du Ruhui who set off the flare projectile that attracted both Hao Du and Ashile Sun to the Liuyun Temple. With Du Ruhui dead, and no warning to Hao Du and Ashile Sun, Lady Jinse and her men would have completely overun Liuyan Temple. They would have found Changge in that room, and likely would have killed her as well.

If she did run away, Ashile Sun would need to find her again. It will just be totally unthinkable, if she had simply do nothing.

But as the Abbess at the Temple noted, Changge is hardly the do nothing kind of lady.

So, that do nothing stance did absolutely nothing for Changge. But the Abbess did do something though. She was the one who reminded Changge not to be obessessed by revenge. It was her reminder plus telling her that Du Ruhui cared very much for Tang that cause Changge to want to rescue Du Ruhui at the Temple.

and here i am because of their chemistry... i didn't watch TLB because i'm not fond of historical dramas even…
I see. Let's see the chemistry between Yang Yang and Dilraba, when YAMG is aired. You could try to watch TLB. Whether you will like it or not will depend totally on your taste. If you are game to try something complex, it might work for you. If you do not understand the plot, there are lots of people at the forum who can explain to you

Thanks biribiri and it looks like the astrologer but why he looks like someone important with that glow and aura…
This is just my guess, as I have forgotten lots of what I read in the manhua. I think in the manhua, he may have had a more signficant role. But in the drama, they toned this down.

In general, in the drama, they try to tone down many things, so that this drama will be liked by many people. Even Taoism. Despite Changge spending lots of time at Liuyun Temple, they did not play up Taoism to any great extend. Changge's Tao or path, merely turned out to be nothing more than what is more important in her life or her changing values as the series progresses, rather than some mythical Taoist concept.

I see it now! Woww!! Spectacular :D Do you remember that crucial scene when you saw this? After all those tense…
Yes, in the manhua, the crossbow indeed was in Changge's hand. She used it to protect Mimi against someone who were trying to hurt her. That was a very cool drawing. In the drama, they changed it to sword. Changge used the grassland sword to protect Mimi and fend off the two soldiers who were trying to hurt Mimi. And she did it very skillfully, showing what a fast learner she is. I believe those grassland swords must be handled differently compared to swords in the central plains. They may have different centre of gravity, different weights.

I hope im not the only one tick off about Li Chang Ge character she has so much hate in her and is constantly…
Her next change occured in E17 at the grasslands, when she gave up her intention to want to die, but instead after being inspired by Ashile Sun, she chose to adapt to the grasslands. This episode also shows how smart she was, that AS would want to make her his military advisor

Li Changge already experienced one real change in E15. That is the surrender scene. That scene occured after the Gongsun Heng couple died and entrusted the city to her care. And the old Mr Qin asked her, what is your path. The 'old' impulsive Li Changge would have wanted to fight to death with the Ashile Troops. Instead she surrendered to them and let nature take its course. This change will be pivotal for her, because it will mean she will leave Tang and go to the grasslands with the Ashile troops. I will use another post to show you her next change

Indeed! And many of the conversations that she has with A'Sun, they are some of the most beautiful in historical Chinese drama. All of their one-to-one conversations starting from around E32, when he found her in the Central Plains, they are cute, sincere, honest and totally affectionate.

I agree!! This drama draws you in! From the start till the end it weaves a magic spell on you and you're hooked!…
In the early days of this drama, participants in forum pointed us to an unofficial platform to watch this, and I remember that platform showed the drama without the opening OST. And I felt so weird. It was like going for a 10-course Chinese dinner without the appetisers.

Lovely! A'Sun time and again impresses us! What an amazing character, a splendid human being.. At the same time…
Yes, in that ending scene, 30 seconds is all he needs to get to Changge. During that 30 seconds, she is hardly defenseless. At Liuyan Temple, she already learned how to fight with a twig. And twigs were easily available at the grasslands.
