Episode 28 I wished they would have showed more of the fight between Sun and Xu Feng. They cut it off when they…
They did fight, didn't they? At the scene where they broke many stuff at the restaurant? I thought that was a good fight. And it was quite cute too. When Shiba felt that they should be stopped, Chin Lau said let them fight. That is the way young men like to settle differences and get to know each other better.
Episode 29 Anyone else got frustrated when Changge and sun barely missed each other in the streets?!? I was like…
"General and I" was not written by these same two screenwriters, am I right?? Anyway, having the ML barely missing the FL is a very common plot. Makes you feel like punching Sun, why didn't you look at those sheets of paper on the floor? The director of TLB did the same thing in Noble Aspirations, making the FL and ML missing each other numerous times.
Here, it was not so bad. Those near misses only happened about 2-3 times. Hence, this part of the drama did not appear too draggy to us.
Time issue. It would have lengthened the drama somewhat. I think they wanted to keep it to 49-50 episodes. Screenwriters…
It does. But too complicated a backstory to her identity may take up another full episode. Already many viewers wanted another episode to show all those other stuff, like what happened to GeSun at the grasslands and so on.
In the end, the screenwriters must have thought that it would be simpler for her to assume the identity of Pusa's sister.
Hence, they were able to show the COVID dance scene. I am not sure that scene was even in the manhua. Very unlikely. But filming was done last year, in the midst of the pandemic. The screenwriters must have thought, ok, surely viewers can relate to that dance (even if TLB was screened this year).
It was a bit out of place, that dance. But I found it cute. One of the ways they injected humour into a serious drama.
Cutting down screentime for Khatun was not possible. They needed sufficient screentime to explain why she became what she became.
I also do not know if Changge in the manhua fulfilled those three wishes, as I did not read the manhua. But Changge…
Definitely. From his facial expression, you can see that he was very happy, at the end of this negotiation. At this stage, he did not express his three wishes to her yet. But he was very happy.
Why? Because to him, it meant CG wanted to live. Prior to this, CG was more or less going on hunger strike. Sun needed to give CG a reason why she may want to keep herself alive.
Being a slave would not be good enough. He already know she is a princess. She is a good military strategist. And she is a very determined person. Letting her be his advisor would fit her very well and would give her perfect reasons to live.
Throughout the drama, Chang Ge experiences a lot of pain some examples: her mother's death and seeing her second…
Well, these are the key events in Changge's life which will change her forever. That all of us here could feel the pain that Changge felt only meant one thing: Dilraba delivered her role well.
That snow walk scene in particular. From many comments here, it must be a favourite for many viewers. A very iconic one. She had to show control of emotions here. Controlling her emotion of sadness and pain, so that despite the pain she was feeling, she was able to deliver the box to AS in a very dignified way.
This was a very dragged-out scene, in that when the snow fell, it was slower than normal frame speed. There were many close up shots of her face. And that face needed to show her ability to fight back pain and sadness. And that scene alone would have rewarded the producer and director's faith in Reba's acting ability.
Of course, we all know. She delivered in all other scenes.
This drama was about Changg'e journey. And Reba played her. Her portrayal must bring the Changge from the manhua to the TV screen in our living room, to the monitor on our desktop or screen on our laptop.
Numbers do not lie. The ranking of actor/actresses in China and the other award that she has won thus far could only mean that many viewers found her portrayer spot on. Next year, when acting awards are dished out, many of us here fully expect her to win many awards.
The suceess of TLB was not due soley to her effort. That we know. But she was a critical factor.
You may or may not be Rosy's fan, but her acting is hardly at the level of Dilraba. Lots of Rosy's fan said she…
Not really. Reba did not win the acting ranking in China because of Star power. Those actors whom she beat, they had more Star power than her.
Like babepiggie said below, Rosy's frame would not have made her look convincing as Li Changge. I like all the points made by babepiggie why Reba fit the role so well.
Actually, when they did the casting, those who have watched the interviews by the producer would have noted, she wanted no one other than Reba. Because of the mole and her physical resemblance to the Li Changge in the manhua. The director for TLB had plenty of confidence in Reba because he had worked with Reba in ELOD.
Rosy had plenty of chance to show her acting in Love of a Thousand years, but she did not deliver. Or else, she would have won acting awards for it.
We just have to wait for next year. When she will be the FL for her next serious drama. There, she will be given lots of screentime to show her acting abilities. For the sake of her career, I really hope she pulls it off. Cause, if she does not, regardless of the number of fans she has, it is not going to help her.
He did have a proper closure. Before Mimi, she entrusted her beloved brother to Mujin's care (E48). And he and…
Are you referring to E48? Lingering around the field for such a time showed that he was really reluctant to leave her physically, even though she was dead. And there was no one else in that just scene. Just him and her. It was like their final moments together. He will likely have to either cremate her or bury her after that. Not sure what the grassland culture is like, in terms of handling deadbodies after death. If I were him, bury will be good. There will be a tomb which he can go back to, whenever he misses her. If cremation, he will need to use memorial tablets, like they did in Tang Dynasty (or many Chinese dynasties for that matter). Since grassland people are nomads, he may well cremate her, and bring her ashes with him where he went.
If you were referring to E49, when he killed Lei Mon, that scene was also good. He got to kill him and took revenge for Mimi. It was a good closure for him. Thereafter, he will likely go back to the Eagles' camp, and bring Buzhen with him.
This drama did an important role in teaching me about body language and micro expressions and gestures which initially…
I also do not know if Changge in the manhua fulfilled those three wishes, as I did not read the manhua. But Changge was a very good negotiator. She made AS promised her to do three things, and in return, she will do three things for AS. This was their agreement, before CG would agree to his military advisor.
Now, we need to bear in mind. AS already somewhat fallen in love with CG, afte the riverbank scene, when he first found out CG was a girl.
So, when CG offered to be his advisor, and she was able to convince him of her ability to be a good one, he took the offer. Because as an advisor, she will be staying even closer to him, compared to being a slave. Also, it would mean, she will no longer need to wear all those chains around her legs.
So AS was making a bet. He was betting that if he can fulfill the three promises to CG, one of which was to set CG free, CG would no longer wish to kill him. It was a very smart bet by AS. Smart because if he did not harm anyone, and would not harm Tang, and would set her free, yes, chances are very low that she would want to kill him. Fulfilling those wishes would have shown to her that he was a good person, not a ruthless killer. And she would give up trying to take revenge for the governor.
Coming back to body language and micro gesture, yes, they are very important and was used throughout this drama. To rely on them, the director must be very good, and actors must be very good.
For TLB, the director is indeed a very good one. And Dilraba and Wu Lei are very good actress/actor. They were able to portray all those micro gestures and body language very well. As a result, many of us fell in love with the GeSun couple, even if there were no physical mouth-to-mouth kisses between them.
This question was probably answered somewhere in this chat, but I'm new here. Does anyone know why did they change…
Time issue. It would have lengthened the drama somewhat. I think they wanted to keep it to 49-50 episodes. Screenwriters had to decide which portions in the manhua they wish to follow, and which they needed to cut. Not possible to follow all, since they also added lots of stuff that were not in the manhua.
For instance, the Leyan character was not even in the manhua. Inserting her character alone took up so many episodes. But they decided that her character was important in a drama. There is some kind of formula for success. Somehow, 2-couples dramas performed better than 1. Adding the Leyan character was also positioned to help add more viewers. Lots of Lusi fans out there. Not sure if this backfired, cause fan war is inevitable when you put two big female stars in the same movie.
But this director has done it before. So he isn't afraid. He worked with Dilraba before. And this drama is about Li Changge's journey. No way he was going to give Reba and Lusi same amount of screentime.
You may or may not be Rosy's fan, but her acting is hardly at the level of Dilraba. Lots of Rosy's fan said she…
I really do wish Rosy all the best. If she bombs again in her next serious role, future producer/director will be very hesitant to give her more chances. After all, every drama is an investment. People put money in it. A failed drama can cost millions.
I will be looking out for her next serious role. Should be out by next August or September
Oh, I think Dilraba totally nailed portraying Li Changge. She was voted best actor/actress for a great number of weeks in China, even higher than big name male actor. Number don't lie
Many of us walked away feeling that we saw the Li Changge from the manhua coming to life
This very convincing and beautiful performance by Rosy Zhao...I wish she was at this level in “Love of Thousand…
You may or may not be Rosy's fan, but her acting is hardly at the level of Dilraba. Lots of Rosy's fan said she should have gotten the role of Li Changge instead of Dilraba.
Based on Rosy's performance in Love of a Thousand Years, it would have been a disaster, if she had played Li Changge.
The producer had no one else in mind, other than Dilraba. I doubt she would have given it to Rosy, if Dilraba had declined.
I am not an anti fan of Rosy. But thus far, she only shined in rom-com
Playing Leyan is her second chance to play a serious role well. But she was only the second FL. Her scenes were still limited. Her chance to prove herself again in a serious role, will come next year. They are still filming a serious drama, with her is the FL. She will have lots of screen time. When it is shown next year, we shall see if she has moved on from Love of a Thousand Years.
He did have a proper closure. Before Mimi, she entrusted her beloved brother to Mujin's care (E48). And he and…
So, E48, he promised Mimi, when this is over he will stay with her. E49, he killed Lei Mon and took revenge for Mimi. His role in this drama more or less ended with the killing of Lei Mon.
We can imagine, he will return to Eagles division, Mimi woud have been buried nearby. He would take care of Buzhen. Whenever he misses Mimi, he would visit her tomb. And he would be buying lots of candies to place in front of her tomb, cause he knows, she likes candies.
In this discussion https://kisskh.at/53953-princess-changge#comment-6136331I came around to better understanding…
First of all, just a small technical correction. Manga and Manhua are different. Manga originates from Japan, and Manhua originates from China. They are both comics, but with different country of origin. So, technically the comics that Xia Da wrote is a Manhua and not Manga.
2nd point, I must make a confession. I did not read the manhua. So, I do not know if the entire character for Yi Cheng was written in the manhua. The manhua was stopped, because of some legal issues between the author and her former company. So, very likely she only wrote part of the character for Yi Cheng, and our sreenwriters wrote the remaining part (most likely those parts toward the end of the drama)
3rd point, I do agree that her character was well written. She was not a simple black and white character. Her evilness had a sad origin. And toward the end, she still cared very much for her son, Sheer, making sure that he got out of Ding Xiang before perishing in that burning building
I didn't find Mu Jin's ending satisfying. He kills uncle asshole and then is just left there standing. Of course…
He did have a proper closure. Before Mimi, she entrusted her beloved brother to Mujin's care (E48). And he and Buzhen were there, at the send off scene. The Eagles Division likely was still there, so he would returned to the division and continued to take care of Buzhen. As he loved Mimi very early on in the drama, taking care of Buzhen would be his way of continuing his love for her and be a way for him to be reminded and stay connected Mimi.
welcome back! there's lots for you to catch up on :)
Indeed the tone of our yellow is slightly different. Mine is slightly darker than yours. But only very slightly. I didn't even notice, till you mentioned it

May have to go China or Japan. And, when you do get one, not sure you can clear customs. So, yes, it is going to very difficult to get a real sword.
But a plastic one? Should easy to find. They should those at a any big toy shop
I will be looking out for her next serious role. Should be out by next August or September
