The two mls seemed like they were written to be teenagers, the chemistry felt more towards UT and less like WOH. (this movie is not written as well as those two series but you get what I mean) I hope there's another movie with them as the leads to see how their characters progress!

This series takes place in the Wu Zhou dynasty, in a city called Luoyang. It is a bustling port town along the yellow river in eastern China. Luoyang was the capital city of the Wu Zhou dynasty during the reign of the empress Wu Zetian. The plot centers around the murder of a man (and his daughter) who was coming to the capital to inform the empress of corruption within the government. He is called the informant. This murder starts an investigation that later uncovers an organization that is plotting against the empress. Will the main characters uncover the truth in time, or will this mysterious organization succeed with their plot?
In the first two episodes, we meet the main characters, the 3 people investigating the murder of the informant. One is Baili Hongyi (Wang Yibo), a member of the ministry that oversees construction in the capital city. He was contacted by the informant shortly before the murder, and investigates why the informant went to him instead of straight to the empress. The second is YueHua, a member of the inner guard protecting the royal family. She is handling the official investigation into the informant's murder. The third is Gao Bingzhu, a government mortician who has a personal vendetta against the organization behind the informant's death. The main characters haven't met each other yet, but I think they will soon.
We are also introduced to a few key places. First, Dangyang Tavern where Baili Hongyi meets the informant before the murder. Second, South City is the side of Luoyang where most of the businesses and commoners live. This is where the informant is murdered. Third, The different departments of the Tang Government, including Ministry of Works which is lead by Baili Hongyi's father, Court of Judicial Review, and the Inner Guard that YueHua is a part of. Fourth, The Joint Corps is a spy/information gathering organization that YueHua is working with in her investigation. Fifth, The Unwelcome Well is the section of Luoyang where lower class descendants of criminals live. This is where Gao Bingzhu came from before working for the government as a mortician.

The age gap makes me a bit uncomfortable, but this drama was made for kids so they wouldn't be able to tell the difference as much. fun watch! edit: they never actually kiss in this drama either which makes me feel better about the age gap. a 21 year old kissing a 13 year old XC gross lol Also the last scene felt like the ml was a bit uncomfortable with kissing her so he went for the (cuter imo) forhead kiss ;)
