The titular show about "dangerous housewives" waded into cliche territory with the bored Gangnam housewife trope. The FL was nothing like that. She was missing her own life. She was punished plenty by losing out on the promotion, getting ostracized by the school moms, and getting reamed by the man's wife. What more did you expect for someone who was not evil but terribly lonely?

I personally loved the ending that so many people here hated. The look on their son's face. Atonement, grace, revenge, just desserts and acceptance - all three couples got their fair ending.
