Evil? Because she got pregnant? Again, I keep wondering why Song Won draws so much hate compared to Nam Ga Bin…
@Yokey - then Nam Ga Bin is the homewrecker. I don't think of her as evil either - just terribly misguided and selfish. I still maintain that Song Won fell into this as a friend and noona who was giving him advice and enjoying each other's company.
I think it's ok for women to have dinner with men - BHR does it all the time even before the affair - and unlike many Koreans, I think it's ok for married women to have platonic friendships with men. Yes, this friendship crossed the line. But look how much it shook up a stagnant situation! Even the in-laws have something in their life to look forward to that's more meaningful than that dog Dong Mi.
Evil? Because she got pregnant? Again, I keep wondering why Song Won draws so much hate compared to Nam Ga Bin…
Agreed. Should have gone through the divorce originally, but better late than never. And yes, she wouldn't want him or Song Won to "win" but damn, just ask for a big payout from the family and move on.
Yes, I'm going to call it off now because my wife is suspicious, but if you're still single in 2 years, let's…
Yeah, of all the husbands, the doctor puzzles me the most. He's a psychiatrist, for heaven's sake! Should have worked out his mommy issues long ago. Has got his MIL, wife, girlfriend and daughter worshipping a false idea of him. Money, work, reputation, adoring family - why jeopardize that? What's missing for him??
This is my fantasy 'ending'50s husband : Gets married to the sweet young thing, have kids at 50...have to wake…
50s - agreed. And hope the writer meets someone mature and treats her like the queen she is.
40s - intriguing! Don't think SPY is all that great a catch without her husband's money, though. Her dance scene was cringey. Even the MIL's dance was sexier. Their kid could use a comeuppance too, though.
30s - BHR - LOTS of misdirected energy. Love the MMA idea. She's a drummer. Why not? Sung Hoon - I love him. He's earnest and yeah, a bit of a big baby, but he's not stubborn like his dad or psychopathic like the doctor. Maybe he'll end up like the professor, somewhat decent but making a fatal miscalculation.
I agree, the show portrays things as it happens. The romantic music is probably what the husbands and their mistresses…
Hmm. I think as many older woman realize (I count myself as one), it's better to have a really great life that doesn't depend on a man rather than being sucked into relationship drama. Having a soulmate or a companion is wonderful and desirable, and I could see Song Won finding another man if she and Sa Hun don't end up together. But her hands will be full raising the baby, and if she ends up alone, it will be a long time before she can regain that peace and equanimity that made her attractive to PSH in the first place.
I like this drama. It is engaging. It makes me want to watch more even though I disagree with the circumstances.…
Yes, the drama deserves more than its current rating because it really does reel in the viewers. Everyone who complains about the "glamorization" of infidelity and the plodding pace is still here. No doubt, I will see everyone tomorrow :)
I get being emotionally invested in the story and the characters, but would you really wish a miscarriage on anyone?…
Yes, I agree with you on that point. That was the best marriage of the three (the doctor's is very fake) and he could have tried harder. We disagree about the lawyer, but he did agree to what his wife asked - to not see her again. The restaurant scene was a random scene - and an effective plot device!
I am in my feels on today’s episode! Like damn, I don’t even know which side yo be on anymore! Love that Dr…
Yes! Professor is getting old. Maybe older men who end up having babies with their younger girlfriends/second wives end up happy in real life, maybe not. (As an empty nester, I am happy to have my own life back without having to worry about running after a baby, putting them through school.) Seems shortsighted to give up a stable happy family for a romanticized idea of a "second chance".... Hye Ryung - never seemed classy to me.
It’s really not that kind of show. This is about looking at cheating from various points of view, seeking to…
Agreed. There are plenty of Monte Cristo type of revenge shows. Seeing the fallout in real time (i.e., not the kids of divorce or illegitimate heirs grown up and plotting revenge) is novel and interesting. There are still 9 episodes left and a lot can happen. Curious about the ghost and what he'll do to his wife.
That lawyer's mistress is a total shit and she needs to be put in place! Also the lawyer too. I loved how Hae-ryung…
I get being emotionally invested in the story and the characters, but would you really wish a miscarriage on anyone? Was the marriage all that great before Song Won entered the picture? Seemed pretty empty and soulless to me. Life is short. We shouldn't feel trapped in a bad or empty marriage when we have a lifetime ahead of us., especially if there's no children involved. I think in the professor's case, the marriage was NOT terrible or empty, but he let himself get carried away by his midlife crisis and inferiority complex and he could have done more.
Evil? Because she got pregnant? Again, I keep wondering why Song Won draws so much hate compared to Nam Ga Bin…
Yes, her reaction is totally in keeping with her character. May this be the catalyst that finally ends the sham marriage and the awkward arrangement they have with the parents. Both parents should be involved with the pregnancy if possible.
Again, not wishing Boo Hye Ryung unhappiness, because she's alone too with her parents in Canada. But don't hang on to something out of spite or to keep up appearances. Be the confident, sexy career woman we want you to be and move on.
In my opinion… the lawyer is the most despicable of the three adulteress husband! Even if his wife was the worst,…
Also, Song Won shows that it IS possible to move on after a painful divorce. Granted, getting a divorce for childlessness is different from one over an affair, but that's what attracted Sung Hoon in the first place. People are attracted to resilience, strength and decency. After a while, preening, vain beauties become tiresome if there's nothing else there. Also, the lawyer told his wife, asked for a divorce and intended to honor the agreement not to see her again. His wife was the one who changed her mind, not because she really loved him but because of the humiliation and financial loss. BHR has not told anyone else about what's going on, not even her besties (at the restaurant). If I were going through that kind of "heartbreak", I would have shared that with my best friends for solace and encouragement, just as the writer did.
I found Ah Mi empty and boring, but I was moved by HER heartbreak. Again, she was foolish and selfish for starting the affair in the first place, but she is paying the price for it for now.
Here's my alignment breakdown:
HEARTBROKEN: Professor's daughter and son, Ah Mi, Sa Pi Young's mother HEARTBROKEN and MOVING ON: Professor's wife, Sung Won and lawyer SOMEWHAT GUILTY but MOVING ON: Nam Ga Bin, Professor, Dr. Cho (Ah Mi's dad) PSYCHOPATH (not feeling any guilt): PD's brother, doctor and his mother-in-law CRAZED AND WANTING TO INFLICT MAXIMUM REVENGE: Ah Mi's mother, Boo Hye Ryung
(I think the lawyer's parents are too conservative and mildly self-centered, but I've become quite fond of them. I was impressed by how the father swiftly intervened and disarmed Hye Ryung while his son was paralyzed. Not sure where to place them).
Where do you suppose Sa Pi Young will fall when she finds out?
I agree, the show portrays things as it happens. The romantic music is probably what the husbands and their mistresses…
Agreed. They're all shallow, EXCEPT for Song Won. There's so much hate for her, but I think she's the most interesting character. After being dumped for not having a child, she came to terms with her divorce, reorganized her life and started loving herself. She's a philosopher and goes to church to atone. She won over his parents without really trying by simply being kind and thoughtful. I'm not seeing the underhanded long-game playing evildoer that everyone else is. I take her at her word. She's lonely, but if she never saw the lawyer or his family again, she could survive and move on.
This fucking writer kept hurting Si Eun and her family in the first episodes and now she's hurting Hye Ryung.…
Yes, I hope they finally get divorced and everyone can move on. Let the lawyer and Song Won end up together, and BHR can get it on with the producer's playboy brother. Somehow, it's ok for her to pursue that "revenge affair", but a family trying to deal with an unexpected grandson is "pathetic". I agree that it must have been a huge shock to have seen them at the restaurant like that - but pulling hair and trying to stab her? Really?
I do agree with you about SPY - freaking clueless indeed. I don't think she'll remain clueless, and I hope she can finally acknowledge what her mother went through.
Finally one of the mistress is getting what she deserves , Saint evil Song Won needs to reflect her bad actions…
Evil? Because she got pregnant? Again, I keep wondering why Song Won draws so much hate compared to Nam Ga Bin and Ah Mi. Song Won and the lawyer are trying to abide by their agreement to not see each other any more. Everyone, including Hye Ryung, was on the same page about his parents checking in on the baby's health. They all met at the restaurant by chance. That happens even in big cities like Seoul when a family keeps going back to their favorite spots. Who was deceiving whom? Hye Ryung could care less about her in-laws, so why would her mother-in-law tell her that she came back early from the cruise but didn't want to return home b/c she's pissed with her husband? If anyone is evil here it is Hye Ryung for wigging out and trying to attack a pregnant woman.
