This was your first K-drama, but, hopefully not the last. What other K-dramas have you watched and can recommend?
I'm saving Navillera to watch with my parents - definitely on my list. Heartless City made me cry (Reply 1988 and CLOY did too - especially those N Korean ajumma scenes).
The best dramas make me laugh and cry, with the secondary characters stealing the show (hmm, that sounds like Start Up too). It's been a discovery following such top-notch character actors.

Omg perhaps more disturbingly is that as women we have come to expect less of men and we've been desensitized?…
Good point - sadly, we do expect less of men and more of women - which is yet another reason for (and symptom of) women being held back in society. And no, bitch slapping a cheating husband is not a sign of equality or empowerment,

If nothing else, the drama suggests that men and women cheat for reasons other than lust or money. The girlfriends were resigned, fragile or insecure, and were not in a place that allowed them to empathize with the wife, at least not originally. Only the stepmom was deliberately setting out to seduce someone.

When you put it that way, I'll have to go back and finish. Did you see The Heirs? Did not really care for Lee Min Ho nor Park Shin Hye, but I respect their stature. Would recommend Pinocchio, one of PSH's better dramas. One drama that HAS stood the test of time is Heartless City, Jung Kyung Ho at his finest (talk about a pretty boy grown into a beautiful man).

I was not here for the spousal abuse in this drama. If the genders were reversed it would be an outrage! Im so…
Agreed. Disturbed that people are cheering BHR on for spousal abuse, or think the lawyer is a weak, immature baby for holding back. If BHR doesn't think she's part of the problem, agree to go to therapy or agree to a divorce, she's just causing more misery for three people.

Did you like Boys Over Flowers? I've been trying to watch the "classics" but most have not aged very well (looking at you, Secret Garden). Also loved Itaewon Class, Beyond Evil. Watching Camellia and Something in the Rain episodically. Try Flower of Evil, Mouse, Mine and Arang and the Magistrate (Shin Min Ah, Lee Joon Gi - two of my favorite actors).

Yes, the misogynistic tenor of the comments is disturbing, especially coming from other women. For every comment…
Hmm, that's wild but could fit! Ah Mi's mother married someone with two sons already, brought in Ah Mi, then had younger kids. Messy, but I guess in this world, rich people have messy love lives.

Under Korean law, he can't divorce just in case that her wife agree or the court decides to divorce. in that case…
That’s interesting. Wonder what Hye Ryung is holding out for.

Without giving anything away, I just think it's pretty genius how this story toys with my emotions & reactions…
Yes, genius writing and acting indeed. I’m glad we can appreciate it for its entertainment and paradigm-bending value without vilifying the writer for the subject matter.

So, she takes him down. The next chess moves - what will the MiL do to the doctor and what will SPY do when she learns she’s being drugged? When will the ghost make his move? Sounds like Ah Mi will get off easy, recovering and finding her bio father.

Another magical one - My Love from the Stars. Sentimental faves - Reply 1988, My Mister and Misaeng.

Check out my completed list! I'm trying to make up for lost time! If you like character studies and thrillers, see both seasons of Stranger. Signal is a personal favorite. Just finished Woman of Dignity and it was funny and fast paced and memorable too.

Everyone talking about the mistress' that how devil they are come to a married mem's life. But no -one is talking…
Yes, the misogynistic tenor of the comments is disturbing, especially coming from other women. For every comment about the doctor - by far the most selfish asshole - there must be at least 100 calling Song Won a sly manipulative bitch, home wrecker, old hag, whore, etc. people wishing violence on her or the baby. Boo Hye Ryung goes ballistic and slaps the shit out of her husband. The writer takes the high road - maybe she'll be rewarded for it. We'll see how Sa Pi Young responds.

Does anyone know why the lawyer’s mistress meets Sri Ban in the preview for ep 9? Appears sir was before she…
I wonder if that’s Song Won’s ex-husband? And maybe something happened to his second wife and child?

I am really wondering why people have such a difficult time appreciating this drama’s point of view? This is…
Happy birthday! The doctor comes across as a psychopath to me, and therefore a good match for his stepmom.

Ironically, the ocean of hate here shows how talented the writer is. Other dramas show married people having affairs without getting punished, but I doubt people are posting “trash” comments every hour, everyday as we do here. And I’m just as guilty checking in so frequently and bothering to respond!

Evil? Because she got pregnant? Again, I keep wondering why Song Won draws so much hate compared to Nam Ga Bin…
Yes, we're in the minority here for thinking that Song Won isn't the worst. Poor Song Won. I guess her punishment is having Hye Ryung in her life. Imagine being yoked to someone like that forever, whether the lawyer gets divorced or not. Hye Ryung will cast a long shadow.

And as for beating up your husband in front of his parents - nothing you do after that erases the memory.

I find that the writer is drawing up the undesirable consequences of infidelity slowly. All the adults in this…
Another astute comment. Only SPY was happy, at least until episode 8. Either the marriage was shaky or lacking to begin with or the new relationship is haunted by guilt or awareness that it's on borrowed time.

I hope the in-laws were right - that Song Won took the fall for him and she wasn't really just trying to have a baby. Would have been easier another way! PSH took it literally, though, and maybe this is the beginning of the end. He did say to himself that Song Won was his one and only love.

Speaking of the in-laws, could they be the only happy couple?

Ha ha! Love it! Will be tough though :)
Me too. I'm just reading the comments, deciding which upstream current to wade into.

Ep 8 - the director has a problem with pacing. He could have cut the hotel scene between Dr Shin and his wife in half and speeded up the hospital scene when she looked through the door. The draggy pace reminded me of the first season

I literally skip all season 1 episode..Bcs very boring..This season 2 is more worth it and has some point..
Yes, you're not losing much by skipping season 1, though you'll miss seeing the extent of the stepmother's depravity.
