Am I the only to feel compassion for Chun Hee? Yes, yes, she has made terrible choices, but I can understand why. I love Choo Ja Hyun's multilayered performance - a stunning contrast to her turn in Arthdal Chronicles.

It's rapidly become my go-to drama of late. It's gripping in a way that the new batch of Netflix dramas has not been, including Thirty-Nine.

Sure, it's natural for Eunpyo to ask why Louis chose Jinah. But for Eunpyo to just run away and block Jinah, blaming her for her adult problems, is just cowardly. She blames her son for posting her true thoughts about her advisor - whose fault was that really?

Chunhui is at least open about her aggression. I think passive-aggressive people who keep things close to their chests are worse.

Eunpyo is my least favorite character too. I do understand the other moms. I don't understand why Eunpyo is like a zombie, half negligent towards her children and husband.

Why don't you give it a try? The first couple of episodes were slow but it quickly became a must-watch for me. Yes, there are toxic mothers and children but there are a number of compelling mysteries.

It raises legitimate questions about how far we would go for our kids when everyone else is fiercely competitive. The mother who thought she wouldn't engage in the arms race ended up eating her words. I lost respect for her, more so for not defending herself against the wolf pack.

I still miss the original Dong Mi - absolute perfection - but yes, after she ditched the wig the new one grew on me too. What do you suppose caused her to break down if the ghost didn’t? Ban’s assault? I’m surprised that that was stepped over - that was a serious attack.

No, but this series is a winning formula. So I would bet on it. Regardless of the ratings, which are decent, the series has a stickiness that few others do. We may hate the writer-nim for killing off beloved characters but she has a talent for reeling in viewers week after week, season after season. The way old fashioned soaps like Dallas used to do

Of all the ways to die - a ceiling tile? Come on. Would have been more entertaining if the housekeepers had done something nefarious on their way out. What a wasted subplot.

If nothing else, Bu Bae (SDM) should be on every casting director’s radar. While not quite believable, I do like how he stood up to his father and married an older divorced woman with a child, a 180-degree turnaround from his cold playboy CEO persona of previous seasons. (Sung Hoon’s replacement as PSH did not fare so well - barely registered for me).

Lots of wish fulfillment and comeuppances this season, and that’s why I know I’ll see many of you here for S4. :)

Yes, Kim Sun Ah is criminally underrated. I'm discovering her old gems now. What a baller.

Yes, very stylized and arch. Lots of unsympathetic characters. But I did appreciate the ending, how the women protected each other ultimately. I was hoping that would be the case here.

Add Big Little Lies and Mine to the mix.

I'm not familiar with Lee Yo-won. I too found episode 1 terribly slow. Needed another makjang drama to add now that Love, Marriage, Divorce is winding down, so I'll stick with it, but none of the characters are attractive.

You nailed the Big Little Lies comparison. Soundtrack and slow walk in the title. Mixed in with Now We Are Breaking Up. Frustrating pace.

Not having finished Be Melodramatic (I will), I think Thirty Nine feels more authentic. They are at a different life stage, and Melo was aiming for droll comedy.
