Now it's clear:) and thanks for the summary, I was thinking of writing sth like that but I'm way too lazy.

I've never seen an adaptation that novel fans would not complain about:) Personally, I try not to mix the two or I inevitably get disappointed. I've said many times before that I regret reading Modu first, because drama PS has a much more ambiguous and mysterious aura, and I would've loved coming up with different theories about him. Honestly, this is too rewatchable... The episodes are so packed, and leave me with so many thoughts and feelings, I constantly get an itch to rewatch for missed details or emotional moments. It feels like I've already watched 100 episodes of this drama, which normally would've sent me running, but here I am ...hoping it gets re-aired so I can watch it again;)

I'm mid ep9 and a bit confused about the timeline of Pingan’s backstory. How old was he when he was ousted from the Zheng family? Because that dumplings story and Konglang made it sound like he was still a kid, but then how would he be in the position to help his ‘sworn brothers’ in Changan? I also think it a bit strange that he would be so quick to believe in his father's guilt but harbor no ill feelings towards the Zheng family. At first I thought he was too little to remember him, but it sounds like they had a good relationship, so why didn't he already suspect foul play? Also, he said his sister died because they had no money for medicine but shouldn't he be already working and earning a lot by that time? Guys, what did I miss?

Yes! and I'm still laughing. Ep7 was great!!

To add to your 2 point, before the copyright infringement notice there was a case of stolen eps which made the person stop uploading and private all previous videos, so noone wants a repeat of that.

I'm confused about your last sentence in 3... Eps 1-8 are still available on youku with good subs and I'd encourage everyone to watch those because wowow eps have cut scenes. I agree that good subs are a must, so much of the story unfolds in conversations you'd be missing out.

I'd go with option 1 while hoping for option 2:) I'm watching with Chn subs but I've seen eng fansubs from 3 different sources and they were all decent.

On wowow site it says 28&29 on 13th, 30 on 20th. I'm in full delulu mode hoping for a longer finale - an hour or hour and a half - anyone can dream, right?:D

Paranoid delusions for sure:D it reminds me of the classic comedy of errors trope, works great as a satire.

Li Shande: “Do we have ‘bing’ in Lingnan?
He thinks: ‘ice’
Zhao thinks: ‘soldiers’
My tone-deaf self thinks: yep you're all mental;)

Some of the comedy feels forced but I love the gallows humour<3 Li Shande’s earnestness is both touching and hilarious - it serves as his armour and ultimate weapon lol

Oh, I read he left early because of the commotion and honestly had mixed feelings about it.

Despises it so much that ent. companies have been buying out rights to danmei novels in bulk?? They obviously love this cash cow, they just can't use it.

But isn't this like comparing apples and oranges? What's the reach of online novels and what's the reach of mainstream entertainment shows? The second one obviously faces more scrutiny. Besides, novels also get banned. That's why everyone writes under pseudonym and censors their content.

It's mostly giving me "here! We bring you some radioactive litchis" since I think the colours were supposed to represent the fruit😆

https://kisskh.at/50145-the-light-in-the-night It's good! Modern, thriller, crime, psychological - not sure if that's your cup of tea. However, it's a bit of a messy situation - it's region blocked and only has Japanese subs, so to watch it you need to go scavenger hunting for fansubbed eps, but since the network issued a copyright infringement warning, everyone went into hiding;) We're hoping that after it finishes in two weeks another network will pick it up and re-air with eng subs.

Tbf I think it was my first rejection, it's usually fine as long as you give links to official sources.

Aww it's like my old job with boss coming up with half-baked ideas and everyone trying to push it on whoever's not at work that day:D I would've fainted too. I already like Li Shande. He's the type of character that's easy to root for, especially in that sea of schemers. Great start!

Lol now I can see it's the character’s name at the top. I think the colours blinded me before;) It's even more ridiculous, it definitely should be changed back. I recently tried replacing an old poster for a drama that was banned in China and now airs in Japan, with one that was officially released by the new network but was rejected with a long litany of guidelines. But a character poster with the name of the drama cut off at the bottom is OK?🙃

Sounds very encouraging:) I already watch two emotionally demanding dramas, so I'm in the mood for something lighter. I had high hopes for Thirteen Hongs but I guess it's shelved for good.

I'm bracing myself cause c-dramas have an awful track record of incomplete, illogical or emotionally unsatisfying endings - but since this doesn't air in China, maybe we'll get lucky 🤞🤞🤞

Haven't started this yet but ...what in the name of 80s disco is this new poster?! I guess I can expect a healthy dose of absurd humour?;))

This is airing?!?!?! Soooo excited!!!!!
