I started my BL journey with KBLs and To My Star 1 and 2 was also one of my first ones and loved it so much I still listen to some of the songs from the OST!! ❤️❤️❤️
Awww, I hated Fukami finding out about the transfer that way, specially after all the sweet moments they’ve been spending together (the 🥟 making was so cute!) and their sex progression 😞😞 hopefully these two dummies can communicate in the next episode! 🤷🏻♀️
I can't deal. This show is too good. When Kuji just put his arm around him in the last scene and pulled him in... WEEPING!!!!. All reports require feedback! And that was GREAT feedback. May this kind of love find me. These characters are so good and good with each other.
Azuma using his own history to help Hara with her PTSD was such a great sign of strength from him. You see him getting better, slowly but surely. And through Hara, we also get a reminder that this is a long journey that comes with setbacks, but there is always hope and people there to support you through it.
The actor they got to play Kuji's father looks so much like him. I love this type of casting.
Kuji is so attentive and caring. One of the things that drew him to Azuma is how he was attentive and caring, but not overbearing. Knew that he needed someone there for him, but not in an overt way - hence the coffee can on the floor and just walking away. But we see how attentive he is himself. With Azuma and now with his father. I refuse to declare him perfect, but...
I think that Azuma is handling things well so far, with his thoughts on how everything comes to an end. I was worried for a bit about how he would deal with the fact that loss is constant, but I think he's ok so far, if not a little sad.
I'm so glad our student, Takechi, is back in class. Poor baby.
I'm going to miss these characters so much. I loved that In A and Ki Jun stayed together through it all. This was such a refreshing drama with basically zero unnecessary tropes thrown in to keep them apart. Once they got together they've been such a united front. Bravo to the writers for giving us a couple who were mature and communicated with each other
Unless they drop the ball massively tomorrow, this will almost certainly join the list of my all time favorite dramas and couples!
It would be pretty heartbreaking if their love story ended tragically in both their past life and the present. I actually think they’ll get a happy ending, though. In the K-dramas I’ve watched with reincarnation or past-life themes, the present timeline is usually their second chance to overcome the fate that tore them apart before and finally get the ending they were denied in their previous life.
Lom randomly killing somebody mid-hug is one of THE funniest things I've ever seen in my life. I was laughing for 5 straight minutes and I rewinded it more times than I care to admit. I'm loving how much more interaction there is between the cousins. I think there's been more scenes between them in 1 episode than we had in the entirety of The Water.
Wow this is such a strong first episode, it’s so layered and heavy already. We’re diving head in, and I absolutely loved it (I can’t keep writing either, I think I need to watch this ep again lol).
I really appreciate how they’re showing the multiple facets of being in a religious environment. Things are definitely not black and white, you have different levels of faith, people who are trying to achieve different goals, etc. The scenes where some of the boys were being homophobic were hard to watch, but the seriousness in which they portrayed those scenes were unfortunately realistic. I’m glad they didn’t refrain from showing it.
I also really love how Tanrak is being portrayed. At first I expected him, at least in the first episodes, to be that “classic” naive, sunshine boy who has grown up in the church. Someone with deep faith who right away accepts the new student with no hesitation but then after a bit starts wavering. That was clearly not the case.
Right away, Tanrak struggles with his parent’s death and, unlike Barth might imagine, Tanrak’s god wasn’t so kind to him either. You can clearly see the way growing up an orphan and longing for the familial love has done to his demeanour, the quietness and the waver in his eyes.
I also really liked how tanrak was not willing to help Barth in all ways right away. There is this reservation likely related to losing his parents early and having to find self preservation at all costs. Tanrak helps Barth quietly by giving him his bowl with toiletries, he shows Barth the basics but does not (!) invite him to have lunch with him - that’s too much, that’s in front of everyone. There is a level at which he’s willing to help Barth, but that can’t cross the line of his “self preservation.”
When they’re alone though, we can really see Tanrak’s kindness shine, outside of judging eyes. The pool scene was deeply moving. Not only Tanrak was actively paying attention and listening Barth’s judgement of god and his faith, but he was asking questions about why Barth distanced himself from religion. Of course Barth still has his walls up and he didn’t answer, but Tanrak’s willingness to listen was beautiful and you can see in their eyes that a little bit of trust was built between them there.
No wonder fourth was so immersed in his character, Tanrak is so complex. Fourth did an AMAZING job with the acting. His eyes are so expressive and we can see those really small moments where Tanrak is trying to push through his guilt, sadness, jealousy etc to be a “good person.”
Gemini also did an incredible job with Barth. Barth truly feels like a separate, fully fleshed out person. We can already see so much guilt in his eyes. It’s not just pure defiance, he’s not even an adult but he’s already judged by his family and peers. I am really looking forward to see him open up and soften up again.
I can’t wait to see how both Barth and Tanrak find solace, a connection and happiness by relying on each other.
Can’t forget to mention the editing and cinematography. Wow. I love the scenes in shades of blue and how they carry such a heavy tone, which is perfectly contrasted by the yellow/orange and warmth of the church. The imagery was great. In particular, the last scene where priest and the boys look down on Tanrak and Barth was amazing. I loved how camera angles down on Tanrak and Barth to show that power difference, how there is a physical and emotional difference in height - with them laying down low on the pool floor and the others standing above. The symbolism of judgement. So well done.
Can’t wait for next week!!!! This ep is even better than what I expected.
I think I’ll have to rewatch the trailers and pilot again too to feel a little hope in the meantime lol.
ETA: I think Tanrak’s best friend is the one being ordained in the beginning. He seems truly kind and have really strong faith. I think we have a good ending in our hands. So excited to see that journey.
I loved Dark Blue Airlines, and Polca1 as their team name, those kind of references always make me smile.
I just want this show to remain fun! And it seems like that's exactly where we're going. But also that TayNew chemistry still hits. UGHHHH, I love the ogs!
Just like Boss (BossNoeul), Fluke has this MAJOR DADDY VIBE but in the same breath they lower their tone and are the cutest sweethearts ever but in a second they are the most passionate hottest humans that ever lived 🫠
Also like Nouel, SaengNuea has this playful sexy vibe but he can immediately turn vulnerable and is super smart
And both Saithan and Sila have these exact same vibes and the story is so well executed and the cinematography and wardrobe is just perfect. Also the GL girls are probably one of a handful that they insert into BLs that I am actually loving because they both add to the story and are interesting and well developed. And HOT and Beautiful 😍 and sweet and SMART.
The two younger boys being so sweet and caring and loving each other but not realizing that's what they feel is so well executed. Wonderful young actors. ❤️
I wish Gap wasn't a villain 😭😭😭 cause HE IS SO HOT HERE AND I WANNA LOVE HIM but I hate his character so much 😔
This series is probably my favorite airing series. When I realize it is Saturday and Daddy day I get so happy.
On a scale of 1-10, how mad am I after this episode? I’m at a damn 12. I hate that mama with a fiery passion. How does she go from it’s not looking good for her recovery to her sitting in a red velvet dress smiling happily at this sham of a wedding? Mama is out here playing games. She held on long enough to help Yi Chen turn his world upside down.
And then we have Zhou Lan proposing a lavender marriage out of nowhere (because homegirl has to know he’s gay). She hung in there for five years. I’ll give her that. It was four years and 364 more days than what I would have held on for.
May the cowardly lion ask the wizard for some bravery because Yi Chen hands down receives the spineless mama’s boy of the year award.
Good for Lu Feng not folding like he usually does. Now that he knows that him and Yi Chen are in the same city, I’m ready for the stalker behavior. May he bring all the 🏴 and make Yi Chen be the one to finally do some groveling.
I’m kind of disappointed that we didn’t get to see a little more of the second couple (even though little brother is still on my shit list for the time being). I really want to know if he regained the ability to walk and what’s been going on with them for the past five years.
My poor baby Gaysorn, I hate to see him so sad. I am so mad a Scent but I am also feeling a bit bad for him.
I think this is the first time I have hated a villain so much in a Lakorn. Usually, I can find one redeeming quality, but this time the dad and uncle are devoid of good traits in my eyes. Even though the dad is ill, I want him dead. I don't want that Asian or African trope where bad parents are forgiven because "family". He AND the uncle are shitty people, he can make amends and then die.
It's a good thing the Mudan people are sentimental because anyone else would have gotten rid oft that letter after 16 years.
The preview for next week!! I love revenge and justice. Gaysorn looks pissed. The villain in my is loving it. Still gonna hope for a happy ending though.
This first episode was excellent!! 👏👏🎉 I read the manhwa in preparation for this series coming out and they did a really good job laying the backstory! 👍🏼👍🏼 Min did a great job portraying Sun, specially his sadness 😞😞I’m curious how TopTap will portray Jay, we didn’t get to see much of him…we did get a glimpse of the bunny costume scene, can’t wait for them to dig into that scene more!! 🙏❤️
Okay, so getting the cool non-attention was very effective on Moo Moo. The candy follow up though...that was inspired. The little things, the smiles, dropping the over the top, that's what that man needs.
I do love how Moo Moo is the architect of his own fall.
Cooheart was great, as per usual. I probably sound like a broken record at this point really feel like a BL with a similar role but as the lead opposite someone of a similar type to Noeul's character could be really good.
As for Kluayhom...boy needs to move on because Fu isn't interested, but having your perceived rival be someone who won't admit to being on the field...ooph. That has to burn. I won't call Kluayhom and Moo Moo mature about the whole thing, but I'm glad they never went over the top with it.
Hold up....Tian....let's have a chat about that pic. I am invested. I am intrigued. I need to know more. Okay..okay. KluayhomTian exes to lovers. I would be in favor.
Jeab...excellent dismissal, but I'm concerned you're going to give in.
That sound we all heard...that was the 4th wall shattering. 😜
And oh, we're openly admitting that Fu is the texting pal. Yay!
I started watching this drama after getting recommended it because people said it was funny asf, and I’m glad I did.
The starting episodes were hilarious and I loved the pacing. Even the plot felt unique to me. I mean, I’ve never watched a drama with an MC who’s a student and a BL writer. Since I enjoy reading and watching BL myself she felt really relatable at first.
I honestly don’t know why they felt the romance part was necessary. The comedy was doing absolutely fine on its own, and even the acting during the novel scenes was executed with so much humour that I never felt like it needed romance.
Then I started seeing edits of the funny scenes, but ship edits also started showing up on my feed and that made me hella uncomfortable. I’m not a fan of huge age-gap dramas or student-teacher relationships at all, so I usually avoid this trope completely. They obviously never confirmed anything, but they still gave enough hints for it to make me uncomfortable asf.
It started off great imo, but I wish it ended on a lighter note and kept the comedy till the end. The whole “her getting caught writing a novel about her teachers” situation gave me second-hand embarrassment so bad 😭😭 I wouldn’t wish that kinda situation on even my worst enemy.
Overall, it had great potential if they had just stuck with the comedy till the end. 7/10 for me.
Moon Tae hee is the most useless character like girl pick a side 😬 and about the pictures I think it’s either Mr.Son or her manager 😭 because the picture was taken where they were at the beach and only Mr son and her manager were there with them but it’s most probably Mr son ! I don’t want them to ruin his character 😭
Entertaining, funny and sexy, TayNew does it again!
That was such a great first episode! The characters are already so distinguishable and strong, I love how TayNew always comes up with different characters and genres. They mix up the dynamics and characterisation so well. I hope the script stays as entertaining and fast paced, would also love some emotional moments.
Tay’s eyes in the last scene, so hot when he acts all cocky and sexy 🥵
