I loved it. It is one of those dramas that I wish I could watch for the first time again and again..... Yeah, the ending does seem a bit abrupt, I think the perfect end would've been the one scene where they showed her web novel as a book cover. Everything that they showed afterwards could've been shown earlier. The romantic suggestion seems like something a director would add, considering how the fandom is shipping those two. Also, the dance number came out of nowhere; I too was like, 'What is this?' I thought she suddenly got the idea for her next novel. But overall I absolutely loved it.
I'm so nervous about this show, I do not want it to be ruined by the writers. I just hope they finish the show well, and we get more romantic moments. It started so well, there is nothing worse than 10 strong episodes but a bad ending
I want to preface that I am LOVING this show, and I am holding onto that final scene having “not happened” in whatever final episode version of reality we end up with. So please forgive this rant … but the ending was the worst “stupid boyfriend” plot choice I’ve ever seen!!! (ok, there are probably worse, but still)
First, you NEVER scuba dive alone, like never, never. It’s literally one of the first things you’re taught. Scuba 101. Second, if you are diving in fishing areas where nets and lines are present (or other high tangle risk things) you carry a dive knife in case you get caught somewhere. Again, both common sense and basic diving practice. Third, if you see a pretty shiny thing under a fishing net (also, why does he think the rock he’s looking for shiny?) you make sure the net is not a danger to you FIRST. I mean, what did he think would happen? Also, why take off your mask? Take off the tank sure, but you’re still going to want to be able to use your eyes if you escape and are swimming to the surface. Just bad writing/directing choices all around. 🙄
So not only is he going looking for a rock on the bottom of the rocky ocean, one that has been moved around by the waves for weeks, but then he decides to go about it in a way that could very easily get him killed. Chen Hai Wei, I love you, but you are dumb, my boy.
I get that it’s supposed to be a romantic gesture for the man he loves, but I don’t know, maybe stop for a second and think about what would be the only thing worse for your man than the people he loves forgetting him … maybe if in trying to help him they ended up dying for him?!? FFS, I just couldn’t with that whole scene.
OK rant over. At least the NC scene was 🔥🔥🔥 😝
So do we think undoing the first wish fixes this tragic event, or was he maybe diving at twilight so there would conveniently be shooting stars available for lifesaving wishes when his rescue comes?😏
Well 2nd couple is wilding here😳 I am typing this with my mouth still open in disbelief. The first minute I was thinking ‘let’s just hope mom ain’t gonna get thirsty and come down for a glass of water’ and then when our oppa turned around and finished right onto the damn couch… well then I stopped blinking cus what did you just do boy!?
I just finished it. I think it was well done and they conveyed the story well. Not as smutty as the manhwa, of course, but the NC scenes and kisses are good enough for KBL standards. I still got emotional on some scenes and really felt Na Gyum’s struggle 😭😭 I think the actors did an awesome job!! 👏For me, it was worth paying for the coins to watch it!! I do hope IQIYI picks it up so more people watch it, you can tell they put in the effort to convey the feel of the manhwa! 🙏❤️
I don’t even care, I don’t like the brother, I tried because he’s sick and because I thought he was supposed to be way younger than he looks since his behavior gives petulant 12 year old, even though the actor is clearly a grown man, but this episode had him saying he has a job and Zhai Qiuyu said he’s not a kid, so now I’m officially over him. And the clinginess between the brothers has veered fully into weird af territory for me. Like what are we even doing here.
I’m kinda glad there’s only one more episode left because I’m pretty much at the point where I would tell Zhai Qiuyu to just leave Li Youen to be his brother’s boyfriend. Just. lol
Aww...that was so sweet. I just binged the whole show. Wish there was a bit more; I'd love to see more of their dating era! And slowing down/showing more of the change in the professor would have been fun to see as well. Basically -- I'd just like to see this as a more fleshed out show. The actors did a nice job, and the writing worked well within the time and budget constraints they had.
I looooove this so much😍😍 Two episodes in, and I’m already this invested?!
That cute little Ketchup guy is my absolute favorite. Nothing bad is allowed to happen to him🐶 His cute face when he says, “You can pay me back with your body”😍😅 I can’t. He’s so adorable.
The camera work! That NC was so beautiful! Shooting through that sheer curtain and the light and the color and I'M DROOLING!
This is officially the first series I watch on Friday... it's become my priority show and the others must wait! The story is moving forward, there's not moments where I'm thinking "ok, come on already" because I am engaged the entire episode.
First of all, let’s give a round of applause for Madam Foei looking absolutely FABULOUS in that bikini. 👏🏾 She was serving yet again in this episode and I’m not mad at it.
I love how dorky Krit is. I laughed so hard watching him waddle across that bridge to profess his love to Wayu. He is so uptight in the best ways possible. I love the contrast between him and Wayu. And it’s nice seeing Wayu bring out another side to him.
Wayu is just cute. Period. But that NC scene at the beginning. I see you Wayu! 🤭 That’s one way to calm your man down. And I won’t even start on the sunflower getup. Only he could pull that off and make it look cute.
I’m glad that Wayu’s sister is back. (Kudos to Krit for the best one month anniversary ever.)
Now on to the next episode because someone got caught on CCTV and I have to see how that unfolds.
Wow, I finished Wooju Bakery with such a smile on my face! Honestly, it almost felt like I was watching several different stories happening within one drama, lol.
It made me feel so much warmth seeing Jeff and Barcode together, especially during scenes like them having fun at the playground and lying next to each other on a bed. 🥹🫂
There were also so many unintentionally hilarious moments. Despite Raon, Wooju, Hachi, and Air running around trying to find Woohyuk, they still somehow decided to stop and enjoy biking together. 😭
It was also funny that after the three of them had already spent all that time following Hachi around, Wooju suddenly went, “Why trust him? Hachi gets lost all the time.” 😆😂🤣🤣 It just seems like people have unwavering faith in Hachi throughout the show, haha!
Later, when Raon, Hachi, and Air were interested in cycling, I laughed when Wooju said, “How poor are you guys? You’ve never seen a bike?” and honestly, they all looked like they were having the time of their lives anyway 😅😆🫶 — Air and Hachi paddling one bike, and Raon and Wooju paddling another. ☺️💞🚲
This show really doesn’t take itself too seriously, and I think as viewers, we shouldn’t either. 😆😂🤣
This series honestly feels like the kind of show where you just have to go along with the chaos. 😭 It doesn’t always explain everything perfectly, and sometimes it genuinely feels like nonsense, but I still found it really fun and unexpectedly heartwarming anyway.
I could understand why Woohyuk wanted Wooju to be happy after Wooju no longer fully remembered the confrontation with Raon’s mother’s former bodyguard. After Woohyuk passed Raon’s mother’s ring to Raon, and Raon later put it on Wooju’s finger, it was implied that Wooju overheard the conversation between Raon, Q, and Woohyuk. So I assumed Wooju eventually understood his alien heritage, even if he didn’t fully know the details surrounding his parents’ deaths (Raon’s mother’s former bodyguard found them on Earth and ended their lives).
I also got the feeling that Wooju’s real dream was never actually about opening a bakery. I think Wooju wanted connection — especially a continued connection to his father. In the end, Wooju found belonging and family with Raon, and they chose to leave Earth together.
(Though now I’m wondering… did the bakery just go on indefinite hiatus? 😅)
I also thought it was sweet that the characters ultimately chose the lives they genuinely wanted.
Hachi loved Earth’s food, and neither he nor Air wanted to be separated as friends, so they stayed together. Q also stayed behind on Earth for love (to be with Woohyuk), which meant Air didn’t have to abandon any responsibility toward Q either. Mr. Kim reunited with his family after years apart, and even Jirol ended up staying on Earth because he loved dancing to the music so much. 😭🧑🧑🧒🧒🎶🕺
I also liked that the series brought back Jirol’s love of dancing later on during the final episode, when it actually helped him escape after getting kidnapped, LOL. Since Jirol was free, he eventually untied Woohyuk, Q, Officer Shin, and Mina as well. It made his character quirks feel oddly consistent in the end and was somewhat useful, haha!
The series gave me the feeling that no matter how strange the characters were, they still stayed true to themselves and followed what genuinely made them happy. ❣️
I was honestly confused for a while about whether Hachi was supposed to be a dog or not. Raon said Hachi wasn’t, but that still didn’t explain why he completely lost control over the smell of dog food. 😭 But because we constantly saw how much Hachi loved Earth’s food, it also made sense that he chose to stay in the end. It felt like a nice continuation of that earlier scene where Hachi asked Raon what they were even doing on Earth — now he had finally found his own reason too. ☺️🫶🐶
In a way, it also felt like there weren’t many consequences for Raon leaving his home planet to avoid his arranged marriage with Q. Or maybe at the end, Raon and Wooju were literally still running from Raon’s father, LOL.
I honestly didn’t expect Mina’s character development either, but I ended up liking that. 🙂
At first, Mina came across as a YouTuber who cared more about views than honesty, especially since she accepted money from Chairman Lee to damage Wooju Bakery’s reputation. But after she returned to the bakery and passed out from eating Raon’s alcohol bread, I think Wooju’s sincerity genuinely touched her — especially when he apologized and offered her sober bread afterward.
Later, we saw her return the bag to Chairman Lee (which I’m assuming still had the money inside), and surprisingly, she became genuinely dedicated to helping Officer Shin catch the corrupt aliens. Then she and the officer even became a couple afterward. 😭
I also gotta admit, I momentarily felt weirded out when Raon said he recognized Wooju immediately because Wooju looked exactly like Wooju’s father. 😭
It felt like, “Wait… I personally could not imagine falling in love with the son of my late friend if that son supposedly looked exactly like my friend.” LOL.
But at the same time, Raon’s emotional attachment to Wooju’s father made sense to me. Wooju’s father wasn’t just Raon’s only friend — he was Raon’s mentor who taught him how to bake bread and was his emotional family.
To me, that explained why Raon came back to Wooju instead of simply running away after crashing into Wooju Bakery. There was also something strangely heartfelt and spiritual when Raon said that Wooju’s father’s soul had guided him to the bakery. 🥹🫂
At that point, it felt less like Raon was only attached to Wooju because of resemblance, and more like Wooju represented his connection to the person who changed his life.
(Though I still wondered how old Raon even was in Earth years. 😭😆😂)
There were definitely questions I still had about the series, but I think the show definitely put in effort where the relationships were concerned.
I also noticed that Wooju usually spoke Korean with customers, but mostly spoke Thai with Woohyuk, who understood him perfectly. Sure, we could say that Barcode simply isn’t fully fluent in Korean, lol. But honestly, I think it unintentionally strengthened the emotional connection between Wooju and Woohyuk. Since they grew up together and treated each other like brothers, the language difference never really mattered between them.
There were also certain lines that unexpectedly stayed with me.
In episode 7, when Woohyuk brought Q to the place where he grew up, they met the director of the organization who had essentially raised him. Woohyuk said, “I’ve never called her ‘mother,’ though,” and Q replied:
Woohyuk-shi. Do you think love is only about giving? Accepting love is also a form of love.
I really liked that line. I think it may have helped Woohyuk slowly open himself up to accepting love too. And that was a shift for him, since we usually saw him as the caring hyung toward Wooju and a dedicated police officer who prioritized serving the people. So, it felt like that gave Woohyuk a moment to think of himself. 💗
Looking back on everything, I honestly got the impression that the cast had fun filming this series together.
It’s too bad we never really got to see them promote the drama together. ☹️
Still, I’m happy Wooju Bakery finally came out in the end, even if it was chaotic at times. 😭
How did you all feel about the series? 💭☄️🌌
Was there anything else you liked, found fun, or thought was heartwarming that I didn’t mention? 🙂
I hate that they’re probably going to run with the narrative that Lu Feng pushed Yichen, when it was Yichen who lunged at him first. Lu Feng’s reaction was purely instinctive, but because no one in this show ever really considers Lu Feng, he’s the one who’ll end up blamed. Meanwhile Yichen gets excused again, just like when they hid those messages from his brother the first time they broke up.
It really sucks to be Lu Feng right now. Cheng Yichen going from confessing he’d never leave him to doing exactly that in less than 24 hours is wild. This could have all been resolved if Yichen had just stood up for their relationship, but I guess there wouldn’t be a show if he actually did.
At this point, no one can convince me Cheng Yichen isn’t a black flag too, maybe even darker than Lu Feng in his own way.
I immediately went to the comment section after I watched the episodes. Because I was a bit excited. Not like our school doc, Zhan Xu. Haha. But it was not posted yet. 😁
When Bian Ye he noticed that doc was excited. I had to rewind. And there it was. How did I miss that?
So, off course I was like, is this even appropriate? Schoolboy vs mature and certainly older school doc. But Bian Ye is 19. There is still a large gap and the fact that Zhan Xu is not permitted to have a relation with a student.
But Yuan and Zhan Wang. If I'm not mistaken, they are both 16. Zhan Wang is doing everything he can to have Yuan out of his social isolation. And he is doing a good job with that.
I LOVED how Toto and Kanit were bickering non-stop and then when Akki asked Toto about Kanit he was all: he's my type. ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️
YES!!! Toto likes the game!!! The massage scene was already spoiled but it was so much better watching the whole sequence!!! I'm all about BTS and Body to Body, so I was screaming/singing the song during that scene!!!
I also enjoy how JoJo likes to make his meet cutes kinda gross: SandRay in the bathroom while Ray was puking and now AkkiVeha in the bathroom after Akki took a dump and hadn't time to wash his hands!!!
Anyways... Oab looks DELICIOUS!!! I need more Oab in BLs. That man can kiss...
Well Ai-oon and Ob-oom's grandmother had a glow-up didn't she? I'm not quite sure about Piang yet, she seems a bit, idk...immature maybe. I'm not saying she's anywhere NEARLY as bad as her but she reminded me of Pray from I'm your Moon in some ways. I felt really bad for Matika, that scene in the café really got to me for some reason. I can tell that her storyline is the one I'll be most interested in. This episode was a treasure trove of previously used GL locations. You've got The Loyal Pin, Reverse with Me and I think 1 or 2 others. Just to think, Song woke up in the exact same bed that Pin and Anin made love in at the end of The Loyal Pin (although I assume they changed the bedsheets since then). I think this should adequately fill that Hometown Romance-shaped hole. Not sure what that wine thing was about though.
