This episode actually went by fast for me and I was laughing a lot more than ep1. Fu wrapping Moo Moo up in a Moo Moo burrito blanket was hilarious when you consider most of the time Boss is the expert at getting Noeul's clothing OFF.
The thing is, the chemistry between them is still off the charts, even among all the gags and sound effects. I don't know if Moo Moo is supposed to be giving off I-want-Fu vibes, but it kept pinging off him in waves. TBH Fu is way too annoying, not in his pursuit of Moo Moo, but over the top narcissism. It grated on me, and it is the one thing I hope gets calmed down soon.
Moo Moo shut Fu down HARD, but I can't help but wonder if that was more about his own mixed feelings. It seemed a little random to go along with the shirt and date, but then flip out over the food. But that could be just the final straw. I kind of wish we had followed Moo Moo instead of Fu...
As for the peanut gallery, I want more of Tai and his barista turned bartender. How many jobs does the glasses guy have? Hopefully, he has time to have some fun with Tai. The little bro is even more repulsive this episode than the last, and I didn't think that was possible. Are they writing him as a villain because he is disgusting? Finally is the friend just going to spend the entire series in bed with diffrent guys?š
I thought Saithan was going to act like a little spoiled brat, but he's way more chilled about working than I thought..Sila on the other hand has that classic "I like you so I'm gonna to relentlessly bully you while also taking care of you" type energy š
It happened again, I'm just smiling away at their love and then I remember why Scent brought him there. I can't not like them though, they are too cute!!
The uncle is too creepy, that evil smile when they took the stuff from Gaysorn's dad. Everyone else is committing the moral and legal crime but he's not getting blood on his hands while causing all the damage. Absolutely soulless.
Perfect finale. Sun got a send off that he deserved and Solar and Pobmek got their happy ending. It was cathartic and emotional. I thought this was a wonderful little gem of a story and really quite unique in this landscape. Glad to see something different from PerthSanta they really got to stretch their acting muscles.
I will say⦠The fact they donāt kiss throughout the whole series⦠Iām ok with that. Personally, I walked into this show with a troubled heart, and I ugly cried at the end. Yeah it jumps around a lot, especially at the end. The parts that get me though, are the flashbacks of when they first met, or when theyāre remembering their moments together. The thing about tragedy is it can strike so abruptly and suddenly (cough cough Seiichi). I think thatās a nice theme though, they band together in the face of tragedy. There are multiple times the characters kind of jump to each othersā rescue and itās so heartwarming. Ryu freezes up a lot. He froze up with Arata, didnāt shoot him down directly or reciprocate. He just didnāt say anything, and then the whole situation escaped his control. He froze up when Johan asked him why he asked him to move to Japan, and then while he left. The words are probably really hard for him to say. He has no problem jumping on flights to go see Johan. He gets visibly excited when he sees him call (they both do). I think the fact they didnāt say I love you until the end was on purpose. I think they were afraid, they were surrounded by violence and homophobia. Arata got outed and it traumatized Ryu. Johan got beat up, harassed, had his life ruined in Korea. Yeah they moved in together, maybe they were never outwardly romantic. Itās interesting because with Johan being bilingual, they still struggle to directly address their feelings, again I think on purpose. The love is there though, in the actions, in the safety and comfort of being there for each other. Coming to each otherās rescue, agreeing to raise a child together, chipping in to pick up kid at daycare. These are very committed, serious things to do that I could never ask any gay person in America to do (nor have I ever experienced kindness and intimacy on this level). The hugs Ryu gives to both Sumiko and Johan are so tight and secure. The words and the kisses are not obvious, and I understand why people like those. But the story moves so fast, itās kind of a blink and you miss it. Like when Sumiko saw Johanās drawing of Ryu sleeping and she smiled, or when Ryuās parents both approved and accepted Johan into their family. Itās the little subtleties and the way the characters interact that I love. This show really struck a chord with me. Iād even go so far to say it ruined me (in a good way lol). I love how meticulously crafted the charactersā histories are and the intense tragedies that pull them together. The care in writing their adolescence into adulthood is really well crafted. I like that we follow Ryu and Johan through their early 20ās into maybe late 20ās/ early 30ās. I like that Ryu genuinely struggled with his direction after hockey, and Johan went to school after lamenting his lack of freedom. I watched the first few episodes of Heated Rivalry, and Heartstopper made me cry. Soul Mate is different in that they focus more on the drama and tragedies, and it feels very heartfelt and human. Fanservice is nice, and teenage heartthrob is heartwarming, but Soul Mate speaks so deeply to me, I was entranced from the first episode and I binged the whole thing in one sitting.
Honestly I need life support after this episode, or at the very least my own mental support diva š«£ From curious to heartbreaking to funny to steamy all in one ep. This series is so high in quality whether the actors, surroundings, storyline or music, love itš»
This was a very sweet episode over all, though I think my favorite moment was when Klao and Tuktan were interacting on the bike and Si kept looking around like; 'My wife is crazy, dude. IF she sees us talking she's going to kill me, then you, then revive me and kill me again.' Which was funny. I do hope that Si chills out a bit, though it is hilarious that her jealousy was a bit justified by Klao being chased by the thirstiest child I've ever seen in my life.
As to the rest, was wild that they opted to do a funeral and a weding back to back in one episode but both came across well, though I did actually feel a little bad for Jane at points, girl brings it on herself but she did have a bit of a humiliation conga. (Also I love how that merchant aunty is now like, Si's best friend. Girl's great. xD)
I finished DBK in the last week and I LOVED it. What set DBK apart from others for me was that PeteKao were already in an established relationship at the beginning of the series, which meant they able to explore other important issues, such as coming out. I also really liked SunMorkās story. Some parts in the series were a bit repetitive, but PeteKao being more equal in their relationship rather than an obvious top-bottom scenario was really refreshing.
As expected I don't like the father and his part just doesn't make for a satisfying story which I was prepared for because of what I've seen in other BLs on family forgiveness. It's clearly cultural and I'm not going to step in that further.
That said, I'll acknowledge his "high" points: - given who he is as a person, leaving young Solar with the teacher who became Solar's mother was probably the best thing he could do for Solar once it was clear he wasn't going to be a stronger/better person. He's crap and it was the wrong choice but the wrong choice made correctly. Solar is probably better off because of it. - taking the weight of Sun's mother's death and depression off of Solar's shoulders was something good he did. Bare minimum but more than I expected of someone of his character.
The mother's story I feel is better done. Her pain was very real and well portrayed even in her short amount of screen time. It was a tragedy and while I'm glad for Solar's sake that they made the final tragedy softer than we'd been thinking when Solar first remembered, I'm equally glad that didn't try to plaster over it how bad it was, how much pain she was in. I think her death, the finality of that allowed them to leave that wound as it was...no gloss.
If we are indeed at the end of Sun's story, I feel like that was the best resolution. Solar remembers being Sun, but Sun can't step into the adult Solar's life, so while it's a bit sad, Sun 'sleeping' is the only way for them to have a real life. And it's a nice image if they're not going to go for the one fades away/merges image. I'm going to give them credit for not hitting us with a tear inducing 'goodbye uncle' or 'goodnight uncle' moment.
The shower scene was a nice image. Interesting choice to mix it in with the blanket make out, but it tames it a bit which suits the show I think.
I guess Episode 10 will be our happy wind down and wrap up.
Waffles doing the heaven's work to post gifs of the highlight of the episode š¤; thank you! ((Net is such a hungry kisser š«£))
I, on the otherhand, have yet to recover from the scene when Roong and the High Lord showed up because wtf hurting TutorYim like that in front of my salad was the last thing I was expecting from a cameo of the two. Like, come on, no TutorYim in DWY and the minute they showed up in LUAT, they got hurt... my whole being just couldn't take it š .
Also, Chuay glammed up? I blinked for a moment and saw one of the prettiest members of the cast on my screen? š³ The mua deserves a raise!
I also sensed that about Pim during the initial part of the interrogation... š¶āš«ļø
Anyway! Lots of cameos for this episode, including Copper (I missed his character's name if ever he had one). Gems being present in the episode made me think of a subtle Battle of the Writers reunion. And last but not least, Duang showing up š.
Krit heavily hinting night and day that he wants Wayu.. and badly.
I'm not giving Wayu the benefit of the doubt here. Krit has been nothing but caring and supportive of Wayu thus far, regardless if Pete showed up he has no reason not to trust Krit. They've already become a little family, surely Wayu realizes this.
Mind is actually a great character, it's clear he likes Wayu but he's not being gross about it. He's just there supporting him and waiting for his chance. Unfortunately for this nice guy, that chance will never come.
Pete can fuck off haha. Just like Krit is doing for Wayu now, he took care of and gave everything to Pete in the past, and was left heartbroken. So really, who is taking the bigger risk here?
Poom and that pole surprised me! Like bro has to be mega strong even to hold himself up for that short time. Well done, earn that cashola Wayu š
That confession and makeout at the end was WILD! Legs up Wayu, you have a boyfriend now!! š¤£
Yes I just watched it and I loved it so much. Pie is an amazing actor and the character he plays fills me with sadness as he is lonely, hurt and starved for love. Nao is the opposite who is cheerful and knows what Suer longs for and needsš All the cast are terrific and the boys from Caged Again are in the cast so how good is that. This story will melt my heart like the others didš„°
Yay, I'm so into this show! I don't typically enjoy Chinese bls so far but this one has me hooked. I've rewatched scenes from all four episodes all week.
I really love the tennis player - I realize that I enjoy characters like that a lot, people who are domineering and who start out as cold and reluctant but who slowly develop feelings for someone almost against their will. I always love seeing how they soften as they fall in love. I think the actor is doing so much with his eyes. The way he looked at Li Youen when he was doing the sit-ups - you could just see him become smitten in that moment. His character is obviously restrained and on the surface, very cold and aloof but you can see in his eyes how much he wants Li Youen and by his actions, that he does want Li Youen to actually like him. I appreciate that he's just quietly solving LY's problems with the loan shark and paying for his brother's medical bills. I'm very excited to see him interact with the brother eventually - I think that will be a fun dynamic. I also enjoy how the show is using lighting to signify the fantasy sequences.
I also like the secondary couple a lot. I think they provide a fun counterpoint to the leads - they're much more playful and things are progressing pretty naturally with them. It feels like they don't have as much baggage holding them back whereas the leads have a ton of personal baggage plus their complicated contract relationship. Gu Hao is the absolute cutest - I love that he's like an excitable golden retriever and he's so enthusiastic and gung ho about the artist. He just invites himself along and over and is just being present until Zhou Song takes a shine to him. Loved them playing footsie while watching the movie. I haven't seen that in a long time.
Zen had Ryo on the brain heavy. The man couldn't focus all day š And apparently Ryo was waiting on that call because he literally came running..They both are in over their heads.
This was the almost perfect story. Truly beautiful leads with breathtaking smiles. Their acting was superb, my only issue was when they reconnected at the end they both so obviously shrunk in height, that for me changed perfect to almost perfect. Notwithstanding the above this is a stupendous film that captures the angst of being a conflicted teenager šš„šš
This is funny for me as a Kimiyuki fan lol š Mokudai and Oku has been working together nonstop š can't wait to see how it turns out. I love summer theme drama.
PM Min is picking the path of all is fair in love and war. But does he think he will have Heiju just because she breaks up with I-An? Not so smart, is he.
Daebi Mama is always so emotional yelling and screaming all the time but putting Heiju down for low status, at least she is not yelling at people half the time.
I knew Heiju was going to try Nobel sacrifice trope, hope she realized that's just idiotic
I-An finally snapping to Jin Mu. My dude, it's about time
Waiting for next episode of breaking up and making up.

Although I fully expect to see a post or two discussing condemning Lu Feng behavior etcā¦CBL characters just donāt care.
Lu Feng has been added to my š“āā ļøblack flag list but heās kinda low (right now 2nd to last with Vegas at the bottom)
Fan Xiao is still my number one.
