I have so much to say but I don't know where to start. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the show, despite knowing it was too short, despite knowing we wouldn't cover everything, despite the dubbing. Chang Xi and Yan Zhao absolutely OWNED these characters, their little quirks, their moments between each other. I've followed them on socials and through BTS and they are both absolutely delightful.
The line-up (?) of Liuyi and all his men right before they barge in to "save" Chusan (who has never needed saving, who are we kidding 🤣) was fantastic! Liuyi running for that kiss and it being a long one was a GREAT payoff.
NGL the cop talk is confusing to me, I'm just here for the ride on that story. But whatever happens in (probable) Season 2 should take care of that.
I think all the actors did a phenomenal job, we fell in love with almost every character no matter how much screen time they got. I wish these guys big success, and I'm sure we'll start seeing the fanmeet and concert announcements, brand endorsements, and magazine shoots soon.
When Feng took Chen's glasses off, that mans whole life change 😂 He became obsessed lol
Who did the subs for Gaga because I cackled at "Lu Feng fifty eleven times" 🤣
The fact that Feng's dad was about to beat him to death was wild af..And I know Yi-Chen was protecting his brother, but I wish he would have told him the whole truth..This is how villain orgin stories start..
An amazing end to this cute little series. The roommate got his comeuppance, thank god.
2CP is pretty much together(?)
Lei Lei & Ke Ke. Oh my heart. I cried like 4 times during the episode. Not even mad that LL read the diary. It lead him to confess over an epic OST and I really felt the love between them.
And then! The boyfriend era compilation. I'm so happy they showed us that.
A beautiful little gem of a series, I enjoyed it very much. I will truly miss these characters, and wish the actors lots of success in the future. 💕
I adore this show because of the ending. I’ve had someone die on me and it really is just like that. And most media that involves that have the person left alive be fine in the end or do some ~I’m moving on because it’s what they would have wanted~ move but sometimes it’s not like that. People die and it sucks and it’s unfair and you’re not okay, even years later. So while I was bawling while watching it, it also was just so good. And Wayne had some of the best acting I’ve seen, let alone in a BL, in that last episode, so I’ll just always appreciate it for going there. And the title alone kinda implied that something was going to go wrong, so while I wasn’t expecting death at the last second, I’ve never understood the argument that everything came out of nowhere. But this show is just so good to me because of the ending
…and that wraps up *Contrast*! This was one of my favorite BLs of all time. Akira and Kanata took their time but I’m so glad our boys got the happy ending they deserve! Their smiles made me melt 😆 I loved how the ending connects to the beautiful ED song.
Ok I've been enjoying this series, its fluffy, cute and fun. It also very age appropriate for the actors ages and the limited acting experience's all of them had so far. Its plotwise not extremely deep but it does touch on a few things. The only thing in the last episode which really irked me and made me reflect on the whole drama was the fight between Mick's and Luke's characters. Neither really brought it home for me, like I didn't believe any of it. Especially Mick's monologue which should've been very touching, didn't feel "genuine".
So I was starting to wonder the following: Is the missing chemistry between Mick and Luke due to them acting in their first main roles? Is it cause of how the character of Mick was written or because his acting isn't quite there yet to bring across the subtle feelings of a stoic character? Is the explosive chemistry between Chokun and Aston due to the bubbly nature of their characters or because they've been generally more relaxed? And while the two teachers were "just" side characters, where did their chemistry go? After all both are seasoned actors...
In general this, at least that was my understanding, should've kinda portrayed the experience of a first love and while in some instances they did a great job, especially the awkwardness though not sure if that was more due to them being actually awkward. It left me lacking a great deal cause a lot of time the feelings didn't come across or were exaggerated to the point it also didn't make it across.
Anybody know what I mean? Or is it just me?
I do still hope to see all of them in other productions and I'm excited to see their acting skills grow. Would I like another season though? No, I'd rather like to see some of those three pairs in other series.
Absolutely love the show. Truly enjoyed all the episodes so far. But today's episode though...I feel like I could've just watched the last 3 minutes and I wouldn't have missed much😩.
Also legit thought someone is dreaming with the car scene...it was not a dream🤭
The Idol must get with the barman and let our main couple be🤗 Also Itt must know that Rit is lying, I'm rioting if it turns out he was not aware all along.
Really phenomenal episode. Lots of mysteries left to unravel over the next several weeks! But it laid out the stakes and the lore very well.
The relationship between Niran and Pete is already quite fun. Level-headed vs. hot-headed/pro vs. initiate makes for a fun dynamic.
Super impressed by the direction as well. Waa is seriously talented - I think he’s got a great sense for the rhythm of a scene. Iirc, he sometimes shows us a character reacting to something (especially something spooky!) before showing us what it is, which builds tension and mystery and emotion very effectively. One of my favorite moments was quieter though: when all the characters are gathered at the deathbed of the patriarch and the matriarch bursts out that nobody has ever asked what she wants. Her husband has caused “too much damage for too long,” so now it is time for him to die and accept his karma - the camera pushes in on her, and the diegetic sound of her husband’s vital signals monitor slowly fades in as she gives her short monologue, emphasizing the stakes and ferocity of what she’s saying. Goosebumps! Of course, a lot of this is a team effort of everyone involved in the production (that Parbdee quality and thoughtfulness!), but still hats off to Waa and his collaborators.
Sea was awesome - his whole physicality changed when he got possessed. The way he held his jaw was very scary.
That was a fantastic first episode i was a bit worried about the CGI but it turned out great and tbh i'm actually a big fan of amorphous smoke to represent demons and stuff LOL
The Opening Sequence is s.p.e.c.t.a.c.u.l.a.r!!! In fact, the whole episode was excellent. Love the moody vibe.
So.... reading the comments here, actors do want to do S2 but no confirmation from company or production team?…
The boys have more or less confirmed it and on SM it has said the second season was coming. Just waiting for Eastone Entertainment or Glow Productions to announce it officially in a post. We are all just waiting, waiting😀😀😀😀 Hopefully we hear soon.
This show was such a masterclass in acting performance specifically from the actors playing Jae Min and Kim Su Hyeon. the finale episode and performance from the actor playing Jae Min is easily top 5 best acting performances ever for me by an actor in a BL. the plot was so fresh and engaging and it feels like u were constantly taken on a ride with this show... Blueming (2022) The Eight Sense (2023) Love for Love's Sake (2024) say hello to your KBL masterpiece brother Secret Relationships (2025) .
I'm obsessed with Burnout Syndrome. I haven't had a show take over my brain like this in a very long time. I think the reason it doesn't have the kind of engagement/reach that Me and Thee does is precisely because it sticks to it's weird, left-of-center, artistic vision (I'm not hating on Me and Thee- that's my other favorite for entirely different reasons).
These are things I can't stop thinking about:
Establishing that Jira refuses to compromise his ideals and ethics for money over and over and then watching him absolutely fold for Koh IMMEDIATELY. Koh believes Jira will do anything for money, but really Jira will do anything for Koh.
At the same time, Koh seems to think he's in charge, but he really follows Jira's orders when Jira is bold enough to insist on anything... and, as far as I can tell, spends all of his free time ruminating about Jira.
From the beginning it seemed like Jira and Pheem had kind of a transactional relationship- Pheem likes the chase and Jira likes to be chased. But the second they realize they both know Koh they are immediately so much more into each other.
Jira's accurate self-assessment that red flags turn him on
Koh alone in his apartment posing himself like Jira's paintings.
Jira isn't just gay - his art, his slang, his mannerisms, his fashion all illustrate him as culturally queer, which is something that is really missing from the majority of BLs.
Pheem presents himself as soft and caring but has a calculating, manipulative underbelly. Koh presents himself as cold and calculating but has a caring, vulnerable underbelly. Jira acts innocent and vulnerable but has these boys wrapped around his little finger - I think he knows exactly what he's doing.
Off has become an exceptional actor. Whatever Off's face was doing in the shower and after Jira left in the last episode was so subtle and so riveting.
An important lesson to me was that Qin grew but he didn't have to pretend to be someone else. After working on his inner child and receiving the love he always wanted. He was happier and could give Duang the love he deserved. But his personality was still Qin and there was no shame. Duang loved him as he was. As someone who grew up learning to change myself to please others to deserve love it made me feel jealous and hopeful to see a healthy example
This was so much better than what I was expecting. At first, I was expecting a 'Hell Girl' style episodic soap opera but I'm really glad this had a singular focused plot.
I've always thought there is a huge storytelling opportunity to tie old-world beliefs with modern technology. I still feel like they could've executed the concept of Girigo a bit better but I'm a sucker for this kind of premise.
The pacing and the overall narrative were really good, and I enjoyed the moments of levity in between the tense moments.
My only complaint with these kinds of shows is the characterisation of the main characters
Maybe it's a cultural thing but it is genuinely unfathomable for me for children/teens to behave in the ways that are depicted in K-dramas. Na-ri and Si-won were monsters and they felt irredeemably evil for the sake of plot convenience? I wish they had some level of nuance or motivation other than just being psychotic? Trying to make Se-Ah unimpeachably good was also tiring and I don't understand why nobody seriously called out Na-ri's behaviour.
While the main plot was wrapped up pretty well, Haetsal and Bangwool seem primed to appear in future shows. I'm imagining them to be like recurring characters in a wider cinematic universe solving spiritual problems similarly to the cinematic universe established by Light Shop.
If anybody has any ideas, I would love to have answers about some lingering questions:
* Why did the coach have access to the wish videos on her work computer...? Was this a red herring, an abandoned plot line, or something else? I thought she was going to be implicated in the whole thing but nothing came of it.
* Why/how did Girigo actually grant wishes? This part confuses me because was the wish granting aspect related to Si-won's wish or Hye-ryung's wish? My understanding is that the app needed to grant wishes to fulfil Si-won's wish.
I love this beautiful series and the two leads are giving a masterclass in showing how great their acting skills are. Both actors are so good together on screen and their chemistry is amazing. The acting from these actors looks effortless. This is a masterpiece and the direction and cinematography are outstanding🥰
This series is an utter delight😊 The two leads are so great on screen together and their interactions are seamless and their chemistry is off the charts😃 Japanese film makers who make bl really know their craft😊 Love it so much💕💕 This series makes me smile and laugh every episode and Kaji has fallen hard😃😃😃😃
This plot is sooo interesting. Ryo is down bad for Zen since their high school days. They obviously have feelings for each other. Zen is in denial and is unaware of his feelings. These two are like in a pull and push relationship which makes this crazy tension.
The best scene was the couch cuddle. Personally, I love how Ryo seeks that emotional connection rather than just bed buddies. That’s love and his smile as he looks at Zen sleeping was just cute.
I feel like for these two, one of them needs to make the other really jealous, in order for a confession. Or one of them has bad health lol or in danger, so they’ll realise their feelings.
The line-up (?) of Liuyi and all his men right before they barge in to "save" Chusan (who has never needed saving, who are we kidding 🤣) was fantastic! Liuyi running for that kiss and it being a long one was a GREAT payoff.
