I loved your reply on here, and I'm trying not to laugh at the 'drag mom' bit. ๐ . . .mainly because the very first thing that popped into my head when you said that, was from 'What Zabb Man', and the character who played the apartment landlady. When she was on-screen, I had to turn down the color and contrast on the monitor. ๐ณ I think Earth could put a great spin on his own version of something like this. ๐
Almost everyone on here has been great with their comments, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm as annoying as the upper 80% percentile, but the choice few jabs in here along the way have seemed down-right personal. . .from wherever it comes from in their upbringing. ๐
I do agree with you, too, that Earth is sometimes hand-selected for some of these projects when they need to turn the emotion all the way to 11.
I had been thinking. . .maybe he'll be offered a new role where he's not hit with as much of the world coming at him. ๐ฌ But then. . .I might find myself looking for his intense scenes, anyway, like I expect to see with Fluke from time to time. ๐

I don't understand MDL sometimes. We go from, "BLs should be more realistic. I'm sick of the lack of realism."…
You said this much better and more to the point than I did yesterday. ๐
When Fluke and Earth do a scene like this (yes, tears. . .I'll say it), I wish people had the rationale to understand what an actor has to do to make this work for the audience.
The actor needs to go to a very dark place to come up with the realism to cry like this, and their hard work is often rewarded with comments like "whiny, immature, wailing, annoying", and the like. ๐
Whatever. . .but words still hurt.
I'm probably in the minority of the ones who believe that it was this level of raw emotion that made UWMA work as well as it did. . .and here in "My Only 12%". โค๏ธ Doing otherwise would have been like telling Dean's Grandmother in UWMA to do her scene and, "just stand and nod your head, but don't cry or you'll ruin the scene". ๐คจ The tears and emotion worked there for 17 weeks, and it worked here for the last 14.
Long after others in here are done making personal jabs at Earth's acting abilities and counting the number of times he let loose and cried, Earth is still going to be offered new roles and they are going to be looking at his wide range of talent, including the crying. There were quite a few of these scenes in this series, but they were all put where they were needed. Santa and Afterday and Prem all cried, too, and it was perfect there, as well.
That's real life. . .and these are the scenes where you'll see it. Leave them all in. ๐
Everyone wished they could see Earth in an older and more confident role. . .and they got it, so the complaints should end there. ๐ I'm sticking steadfast to the way the series was done, even with the dive into non-smoking territory, and the realism in these emotional scenes. โค๏ธ

Here we are at #14 already. . .๐ณ I kept an eye on the end credits for a teaser hoping that there was something to keep going with for another 3, or 8 or 11 episodes. ๐
Alas, I'll have to start my withdrawals from my Fridays without it. ๐ตโ๐ซ I still feel a lot like I did last week, knowing this was coming to a close. . .like the friends that have been staying for 14 weeks are packing up the car to head back. ๐ฌ The house is too quiet already . . . ๐ฅ
I loved all of it, even with the way some of the story was handled, so I'm eager for a rewatch again. After all that I've seen, this is still up on a higher tier with the likes of UWMA, and it's going to remain one of my favorites. ๐
. . .if for any other reason than the fact that Cake and Eiw had a rare BL relationship that kept us free from cheating, mind games, and the occasional existential crisis (aside from Sand getting beat up). Eiw was there to wake up Cake in the first episode, and he was there to do it again in #14. ๐ฅฐ
The anti-smoking message was laid on pretty thick in these last two shows, but rather than make a complaint about the excessiveness, I'll keep an open mind that Afterday, someone in the cast, or someone with the screenplay was devastated with the loss of a loved one due to smoking, so this was part of the healing process. No problem. ๐ It didn't get in the way too much. . .not if it saves lives later. โค๏ธ
From personal experience, I was a bit bothered by the scene where it was time to box up and pack all of Mom's stuff. ๐ฃ I saw this scene coming and wasn't happy, but only from my own experience. I was like, "Geez. . .don't go up and do this now. . .you just came home from the funeral". ๐จ
When I lost my Dad, I shut the door to his room for a week before I finally went in to start dealing with that part of it. Right after the funeral, the idea of removing all of their things and emptying the room makes it more unbearable. . .leave it for a few weeks and pick a better time, when the loss isn't biting so hard. But that might be just me. ๐
Was it me reading too much into it. . .or did it seem like Cake stepped in almost instantly to be the consoling parent to Eiw in place of his Mom? ๐ฅฐ Everything he did in that whole grieving process was so respectful, dignified and perfect. ๐ค Now, some of us are going to go about our lives wishing for a relationship with someone who takes care of us like this. ๐ญ
It was sad, too, watching Cake lock up the downstairs rooms for them after the funeral. He looked hurt too. . .Eiw's Mom had been a member of his family for his whole life, as well. ๐ฅ
Over the last 14 episodes, some of the scenes didn't go the way I thought they would, or needed something more, but I'm fine with all of it the way it was presented, and that's why I'll be rewatching all of it again. โค๏ธ
Santa proved himself worthy of getting 22 instant phone calls for offers for future roles. ๐ His acting skills on a verbal and non-verbal level (yes. . .that includes the English dialogue) were impressive in every scene, and he is close to the same level as Earth when it comes to creating a perfect mood on screen, with or without words. For the both of them, anyone who can let me shut the subtitles off and still play the scene out perfectly with their eyes and expressions will always have my respect.
Earth did some amazing character development as Eiw, and has me eager to see him again in the next several projects. I hope he has 22 calls with offers waiting for him, too. ๐
I liked how he made his character find himself, accept himself and flourish as early as Episode #4, and to make it work. . .even with a lot of people who watch BL dramas by the dozen. . .but are still against seeing someone gay play the role. ๐คจ That in itself set this show apart from a lot of the others. โค๏ธ
Earth is one of those gifted actors who can do a great scene and, at the same time, cry with everything he's got like his soul has left his body. ๐จ I'm fine with that. . .it's not excessive, it's not immature, it's not whiny, it's not below his acting talents, and it always works for the scene he's in. It wouldn't be the same series if he didn't do it, and I wouldn't like the scenes as much if they left it out.
He can cry whenever and however he wants in character, and I'm not budging on that. . .because it's a lot of this in UWMA that Earth and Fluke did to make us come back every week for more. So there. . .๐
With that out of my system. . .now that the withdrawals are starting without an Episode #15. . .did anyone make a note of the scene towards the end at the water, with Cake and Eiw?
Was this this same spot where they used to go to skip rocks?
Wait a minute, I've just watched the episode 6 and did I miss something or it has a loophole? When did Pluem know…
I'm a little confused on that, too. ๐ I thought maybe it was Prim's picture on the jewelry box, but it wasn't. ๐ I thought maybe Prim's name was on the lyric sheet inside, but it wasn't, because Kevin was reading through it, too.
Pluem had said, "This ring box rings a bell for some reason", so I'm wondering if Prim has one at home exactly like it herself? They did leave that kind of open-ended. . .or they were rushed for time. . .๐
There's a lot that still needs to be explained and sorted out in only two episodes. ๐ Like '21 Questions' lots.
It makes me wonder if someone has 50,000 points and is willing to use them for something like time travel to the day before the accident. ๐โก๐๐

We'll see how he is with that by the time we get to around Episode #7. They need to have a few bite marks and improved technique in their relationship before the angst kicks in. ๐

I'm guessing that it's going to be mostly original shots.
The supermarket scene with Win and Dean was mixed between old and new footage, so I have to keep my eyes peeled for surprises. New is notorious with the directing for putting in 11 or 12 small details to see if we're paying attention. ๐
I haven't read the whole novel, but I'm supposing that Win has to be established early on as a good caregiver and support role model so he can be there at the right times for all of the unresolved issues Team has dealt with before arriving at the university. ๐ค I don't think that was approached at all in UWMA.
The ratings in here should improve after a few more episodes. ๐ค๐ฝ There was a glitch here since a year ago with the :09 teasers being counted as new episodes. . .so there was already an issue here before the first episode. ๐ฌ
I don't think an 8.3 in here is out of the question before Team opens his next bag of Lay's. ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ

For me. . .it's doorframes. ๐ช๐ For some reason, there's no better place when you have to cry then leaning into a doorframe and hanging there for three minutes. ๐
There's something very 1960's Hollywood about it. ๐

I have this terrifying premonition that Episode #8 is going to have the whole gang sitting at a table eating lunch. . .someone is going to shoot a straw wrapper across the table, it's going to hit Nhai in the ear, and he's going to end up going to the ER and put on life support. ๐ค๐ฉน๐๐ช๐๏ธ

Going back to the way things were set up in Episode #1, I would not have believed that #6 would have been so close to perfect for the story, the character development, and the way we got to see it. ๐ง There was a lot going on in this one.
I like how the show started with Pluem seeing Kevin hanging laundry, deciding whether or not to get off of his bike to go in . . .and then deciding and running into the yard because he saw Kevin wearing shorts again. ๐คฃ
These subtitles needed some work this time, but it all worked out just fine. ๐
I was surprised at how fast all of the storyline moved in #6, almost too fast. ๐ฌ See-Nam never told anyone about Prim and See-Foon never told Kevin about seeing Jake. ๐ฃ
These will get sorted out in here somehow, but it seemed to leave me hanging a little bit.
It was neat to connect the dots and find out that the friend See-Nam wanted to see at the school gym was actually Pluem's sister. ๐ . . .and that chili paste and strawberry go well together on a crepe. . . ๐ถ๏ธ๐๐ฅฎ

I was surprised at how fast all of the storyline moved in #6, almost too fast. ๐ฌ
See-Nam never told anyone about Prim and See-Foon never told Kevin about seeing Jake. ๐ฃ
These will get sorted out in here somehow, but it seemed to leave me hanging a little bit.
It was neat to connect the dots and find out that the friend See-Nam wanted to see at the school gym was actually Pluem's sister. ๐
. . .and that chili paste and strawberry go well together on a crepe. . . ๐ถ๏ธ๐๐ฅฎ
