I have been waiting for Legend of Fei, but now it's not interesting (for me!).Next in the list Mirror Twin Cities,…
Ohhh there was so much hype about Legend of Fei but I've read mixed reviews, so I was very hesitant to give a try. Just not interested in The Wolf at all, so wasn't planning on checking that out. Joy of Life was so fun, but wasn't really romance focused. I like romances the most. :)
L&R is really a gem to me too, loved it to bits that I'm still watching parts over and over again.Looking forward…
Thanks for the suggestions! I really liked the L&R director, so I will give Ancient Love Poetry a try! I haven't seen a drama with Li Yi Feng before. Is his acting considered pretty good? May consider Mirror:Twin Cities. Hope it has a good romance. :)
Glad you asked this as I have similar reservations about this drama. About what I didn't enjoy in Ashes of Love…
Keep in mind, Xuan Ji is not perfect. So, she later does get manipulated and forced to do things she doesn't want to do (I noticed in xianxias, they love to torture the leads before they can experience happiness, unfortunately >.<) You may feel like shouting at her at one point, hahaha, BUT give her a chance - she does many things to prove her love by selflessly protecting Cheng Yi as another user shared. Even when she is is lacking her senses, she couldn't interpret the growing love for Si Feng, and saw it as friendship, but that growing love was visibly affecting her actions. It takes time for her to regain her full senses but when it happens, it's so nice. But the villain tries to destroy that happiness, and the villain is super frustrating to watch, but please endure, and you will be rewarded!
December 2020 and I am still rewatching this drama again. This might be my (lost count) time rewatching. Every…
I have watched this entire drama twice already. First time was the year it came out. And 2nd time was last year. Always will be a classic in my heart. Will plan for another rewatch some time next year. :)
Haha our emperor Li Yan venturing to rap now! LOLhttps://m.weibo.cn/detail/4583546775668831https://twitter.com/i/status/1339867740744556547Behind…
I love how comfortable he is when filming!!! He is more shy in the variety shows, it seems. ^^ I saw Lize Palace master is dancing haha. He seems super fun to work with.
This drama is really a gem - one of a kind. It feels impossible to find another comparable drama... (Already watched the other recommended xianxias from previous years) I'm eagerly waiting for another epic xianxia to come out in 2021!!! I wonder which one it might be... anyone have xianxias that you are waiting for in 2021 that you think might be comparable to L&R? And would you mind sharing with me why are you looking forward to those? Thanks!
I watched through a fansubber (Productive Procrastinator) and she translated it as "Gold Winged Bird". Official…
Productive Procrastinator had such awesome subs. I prefer them over Viki! I especially loved her explanations before each episode. I remember when the drama was still airing, we were all just waiting for her subs! Miss those times!

Xianxia is not xianxia without some miscommunication, misunderstanding, villain manipulation, etc. - but thankfully, misunderstandings are always resolved at a good pace. If you are looking for something light and fluffy, then this drama will not be your cup of tea. This story has everything from romance to friendship, battle between good and evil, three realms, a lot of sacrifice (and suffering of the one who sacrifices). And it's put together all so well. The plot is fast paced.
(Spoiler-ish)The villain is very hateful and extremely manipulative but he won't get his way. He is an important senior, and in respectable position in the fl lead's life, so it is hard for her to ignore his misguidance. BUT you can see clearly that she still tries so hard to trust the ml even if all evidences and all things to point to the opposite direction. Putting ourselves in her shoes really helps to understand her decisions and actions. Everything made sense to me, so although there parts where I was like, Noooooo don't do that or don't say that!!! The plot kept moving forward and kept my attention. And finally, the conclusion is satisfying. No tragedy genre here!
If ashes of love wasnt my cup of tea should i watch this drama or dont bother?
Many people who did not like AOL actually loved L&R. I loved both. It would be good to know what you didn't like about AOL to understand better whether you would like L&R or not.
Hao Chen (Love& Redemption) = Run Yu ( Ashes of Love )
I was able to sympathize with Run Yu, and he was one of those villains that I couldn't completely dislike. I couldn't sympathize with Hao Chen at all! He was soooooo.... no words could describe how much I just disliked his character! >.< But both actors are amazing at being the villain. :)
This drama is soo super good and Im looking for dramas with loads of fantasy and worth watching! Would u mind…
So happy that you liked this drama! Please if you can, give it a beautiful rating :) Other dramas with fantasy and romance would be Eternal Love (aka Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms) and Ashes of Love. These two are my other favorites with Love and Redemption in the top. Others have recommended Eternal Love of Dream and Love and Destiny (although they weren't my cup of tea, but many many others have recommended them and loved them)
I just started the first episode and I’m already hooked I have a feeling this’ll be like Ashes of Love...…
I finished watching this back in Sept and can’t fully move on yet. Still rewatch my fave scenes and behind the scenes. I don’t generally watch many dramas, so I’m fine with not taking up another drama until I find one that truly captures my full attention gain :)
