Yea, I agree. There are singers who are also very popular like Cai Xu Kun, the guys in TF Boys, and others. I don't really follow anyone, except Cheng Yi now. I also like Li Xian. ^^ Cheng Yi didn't have any endorsement all these years, but he recently got Olay, and I believe he has more endorsements lined up! Hope more people can recognize him!

I've seen Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo fluctuate with the #1 spot. They're always trending in hot topics. But I would say Xiao Zhan easily gets the #1 crown with just the sheer number of fans he has. One weibo post for him can easily get several million likes. His fans are crazy over him, like an idol type of fanbase. Wang Yibo can easily get 1-2 million likes per weibo post! Li Xian easily gets 1 million likes per post. He shot up to fame with Go Go Swuid. With the increasing and high popularity, they also get more saesang fans (the type that literally follow you in your private life). These three actors have had issues with that and Li Xian has publicly voiced his disapproval of fans intruding on his private life. There are plenty of other trending hot actors that come and go on the chart. Cheng Yi is growing in popularity steadily. His appearance on Happy Camp and soon Keep Running (Chinese version of Running Man) is getting hype! He was the # 1 hot topic after appearing on Happy Camp - according this tweet - https://twitter.com/skyfun_cake/status/1331249448131964929 I really wonder if Cheng Yi is facing saesang fans now, since his popularity is super high now also!

I guess it’s just not your cup of tea and that’s fine. Better to watch what you like and enjoy. :) I loved the cinematography of Ever Night 1 but I couldn’t finish the drama. >.< I couldn’t become invested in the leads. Everyone truly has their own preference, and it’s great that there are so many different types of dramas out there for us to choose from! Better not to waste your time on C fantasy dramas if the FL is not fitting to your taste. (Personally c fantasy is my favorite! Hehe) If you like kdrama, and FL that are smart from the start, I really enjoyed Kill Me Heal Me. It had a great story and the female lead is strong from the beginning. Hope you find something you like soon!

I’m guessing it’s a formula that works and attracts many viewers of China? Also, it seems that many dramas are adapted from popular novels that have been proven to attract audiences. I really don’t mind it and don't find the FL brainless. I like the character development as long as the actress can pull it off naturally. For me, Crystal Yuan did an excellent job. :) She was very lovable and natural. (I can understand that some FL in some dramas may come off as somewhat brainless if they're not acted well or written well >.<)

The demand and interest is there, so companies need to capitalize on what works and gains popularity and be able to keep the viewers happy and earn money, I guess?

I guess it would depend on what would be considered "heavy" for you. As the title suggests, there is a lot of "love" and "redemption" There is quite a bit of angst and suffering, BUT there is more than enough love and sweetness also. There are evil manipulative villains that make you want to shout every time they appear on the screen, and somewhat obnoxious behavior from some characters that may cause you frustration, BUT every character is important and precious to the overall story. :) As another viewer shared, this is not considered a "tragedy." The drama is very satisfying. I highly recommend this drama if you are into romance and xianxia.

All the way from ep 1, I was captivated! I would not recommend skipping anything since it’s a very important build up! Their first meeting is just too cute. I also loved the stammering Si Feng in ep 1.
