Zhang Linghe is phenomenal in this role! While he looks a little older than some of the other cast members, he plays the role of a genius perfectly. His emotional struggle is poignant and evokes strong emotions.
I have to say the child actors are also *very* good!
Zhao Jinmai is also off the charts in this role. She is lovely but calm and soothing when the ML is trying to break the chains of being controlled by guilt and forced to live the life his deceased brother ran away from.

I think he was full of self-importance and thought only he should be in control of who lived and died in the script. He didnāt want anyone else to touch his āmasterpieceā which was terrible from the beginning.

After searching until I confused the Google š, I found several that were very similar in shape to a coolie, but his was not made of bamboo, and there is room for the topknot crown or Mianguan. I will have to study pictures of the hat he wore to see if I can figure out how to make it from readily available materials where I live. Wish me luck!
SERIOUS QUESTION! Does anyone know the actual Chinese name of the hat worn by Li Shiliu? I am an artist and now have an itch to learn how to make a hat similar to his. The closest I can find is a pagoda hat, but itās not exact. š Anyone???
