have u seen the 26 mins trailer ( major spoilers for ep 19) ? it’s 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
You remember the dance in episode 18?

Luo Yunxi looks very good while in costume dancing for more than 2 minutes in rehearsal, even when the CGI hasn't been applied yet (I reckon this is the best version of him dancing, where everyone can see how gracefully skilled he is): https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5227872303188099

Turns out Tang Lici isn’t the only one who knows how to make a grand entrance and steal the limelight, because…
Thank you for the appreciation. Given the amount of layering and themes and details, whoever can add to the details of this drama is helpful. I added a link to a paper detailing the ethics of Chan Buddhism (mostly in English) but also with Mandarin terms and sanskrit), so people can read at their own leisure.

kwanto is definitely handy with data, small details, and all sorts of trivia, and I believe kwanto and/or Azure is most aware of what is in the actual final script (which I'm not).

Azure is very good at answering the confusion of others.

For example, Azure explained to others about Zhoudi Lou: https://kisskh.at/755725-shui-long-yin#comment-23951190

Azure was discussing massive spoilers with Enigma5 here: https://kisskh.at/755725-shui-long-yin#comment-23951190

Azure was also explaining the exchange between the Abbot of the temple and Tang Lici (for episode 1 or 2): https://kisskh.at/755725-shui-long-yin#comment-23933494

Here is chibi-Puzhu and chibi-Tanghuli, which I hope can make you feel better: https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5227100487290054

Also, eat dinner before you watch episode 19. And make sure you have something nice to drink after. If you can survive his trials as TTJ in TTEOTM, you can survive this!

We are finally getting to some real plot!
Luo Yunxi did four spins in one go as Tang Lici with the sword according to a BTS and now my head is spinning (in a good way). Is that in any of the upcoming episodes?

Even if you're using a towel already before episode 19 tomorrow, just remember: In episode 20 Tang Lici will be alright, because he'll be duelling with Puzhu in front of the leaders of the Central Sword Alliance.

Title Fated Hearts
Should I start this? Is this worth it? Just done LITC. Is this HE?
HE.

All the characters have complexity, and not one-note. Most of the acting is top-notch, because many of the ensemble supporting cast put forth strong performances. You'll feel a lot of emotions for different characters, and it's hard to find a boring moment.

You want a badass heroine who doesn't lose her wits and go stupid, that's Fu Yixiao. Just as Liu Shishi aced her role as a seasoned assassin, and Peng Xiaoran was an intelligent calm princess out for justice in Jun Jiu Ling, Li Qin puts in a solid performance which is fierce and vulnerable by turns. Chen Zheyuan was a wonderful surprise here for me.

Any other questions on the male lead, etc - This spoiler-free review might help: https://kisskh.at/profile/Xiang83/review/503570

Novel-Ming Yi and Novel-Ji Bozai were a good pair because both of them were intelligent and cunning and witty…
The important thing is to make your own judgment. If you liked my description of novel-Ji Bozai, then you should read the novel. He starts out as a misogynist and rake because of a sad past that made him cynical, but his changes into becoming a monogamist for Ming Yi is realistic and touching in the novel. He wanted to use her as a weapon, and completely screwed up there XD You might like novel-Ming Yi too.

English translation source and Mandarin source for Fated Hearts the novel: https://kisskh.at/discussions/768987-wan-xin-ji/145636-novel-versus-drama-differences?pid=3409882&page=2#p3409882

I wrote a spoiler-free review for Fated Hearts focusing more on the technicalities and aspects, and added a link to my explanation for the ending of why three characters were important. Right now I'm over at Whispers of Fate where the themes are quite extensive and more complicated than LITC, so I'm helping with comment summaries.

Me and my friend literally have the same thoughts on you with this one... I reached episode 4 and then started…
Novel-Ming Yi and Novel-Ji Bozai were a good pair because both of them were intelligent and cunning and witty and verbally-matched. Physical intimacy happened earlier in the novel. The tension between the two leads is well-sustained in the novel, and the novel which LITC is based on is definitely better than the novel for Fated Hearts (I read both novels). Both novels are not suitable for the screen, unless greatly changed. That said, the adaptation for Fated Hearts and its execution turned out way better, thanks to five screenwriters understanding the source material plus the need to make a drama script coherent enough yet still match the original source material in preserving certain traits of the main characters so they are recognisable.

In the novel Ji Bozai cheated on Ming Yi after they got together and on top of that, Ming Yi's way of eventually coming to terms with Ji Bozai's behaviour including concealing something vital from her (marrying another princess simply for political expediency without informing her) was to wholly and consistently reject him after that to show him how unacceptable and heartless his behaviour had been, create her own male harem of more than thirty men being mostly renowned scholars of humble background (including publicly marrying at least one of them in a grand wedding so Ji Bozai can understand the humiliation and disappointment of how she once felt), and concentrate on her duties as City Lord of Chaoyang.

Losing Ming Yi makes the lord of six cities Ji Bozai realise how much he actually loved Ming Yi and she is the only one he loves. He pursues her until he finally succeeds in persuading her to marry him (and she never made it easy, so it took quite some time). His methods of dealing with stress include carving dozens of wooden rabbits, when she married one of the men from her harem. All this cannot make it into the drama. Ming Yi and Ji Bozai in LITC are almost fundamentally different from their novel characters, especially Ming Yi which will be a disappointment for anyone who enjoyed Ming Yi's dominance, ability to adapt, and allure as a woman who was not second to Ji Bozai but demonstrated why she was capable of being Empress and enabling him to be a wise ruler. One example is how she managed to indirectly enable a city to popularise the practise of monogamy by having its newly-married ruling couple set an example, thus improving the lives of females for that city.

Ming Yi is a very powerful warrior in the novel, and she shines multiple times including when she forges weapons. Yes, she lied too, but her lying was justified and never drawn out. Drama-Ming Yi is what the scriptwriters wrote her to be.

I’m on episode 30, does he get his eyesight back??? 😭😭
Continue watching. It'll be the shortest amnesia arc in C-Drama history. These directors and screenwriters aren't interested in melodramatic nonsense.

Title Jun Jiu Ling
It's unfortunate how many people are so stuck on Jin Han's costume/visuals in this drama not being this or that,…
Jin Han's acting along with Peng Xiaoran is literally what enabled me to finish this drama with scriptwriting issues and editing issues. His characterisation as a mature male lead being lively with a great sense of humour and isn't afraid to show that, while quick-witted and spot-on-emoting is a unique combination that younger viewers are not used to seeing in a historical costume C-drama. Otherwise he cannot match Peng Xiaoran's witty character, who is calmly projecting an air of capability and mature grace.

The over-acting (or to be exact, wooden acting) of one of the four support male roles was somewhat painful. Over-acting from the actress as Jiu Ling's maidservant was also painful. A stronger ensemble cast of supporting actors was needed for this drama. The leads saved this drama.

Tears of laughter or exasperation? Luo Yunxi has been marvellous to watch. For him to portray a scared weak Tang…
Heh. It depends. At one point IQiyi's english subs for Coroner's Diary was totally off, leading to some hilarity. But yes, Mango wins the Badge of Biggest Befuddlement for subs.

Did you watch Imperial Coroner? Here is a summary for the IQiyi Light On series of dramas: https://kisskh.at/775587-iqiyi-light-on

I'd suggest Beneath the Undertow, The Long Night and Beloved if you want to try anything in that. Each drama is 12 to 16 episodes long.

"Those Flowers" is a not-yet-aired female-centric Light On drama which has a strong cast such as Wu Jinyan, Jiang Shuying, Liu Dan, Tu Song Yan and Huang Jue: https://kisskh.at/776041-thos-flowers

I got a lot of spoilers from people who read the screenplay and read the book, but I’m not sure whether those…
I would have preferred the "Star Wars" segment and Luo Yunxi's costume design to be significantly different. Of course it isn't the same and there are differences, but the similarities had me going "We can do better than this". With all that tech, why couldn't they create a desert demon who throws rocks and doesn't look so generic?

Love and Destiny is one of my favourite C-Dramas in the xianxia category. Are you looking solely in the xianxia category, or are other categories possible? If only xianxia, are you interested only in dramas or will movies suggestions also help?
