You are right to be gushing over them. Without these three veterans maximising the tension across more than 20 episodes with their excellent performances within any interactions, this drama would be a lot less intense and intriguing. That's why I acknowledge them as the Titans, such as in episode 26 when Feng Pingcheng's exchange with PM Zhuang's daughter was masterfully executed. That line delivery combined with subtly altering facial expressions, finished with a finally emotional exclamation which was ad-libbed and not in the script to end the episode- That's the kind of acting I am used to appreciating, which I'm sure also had you going WOW! It's the kind that is Oscar-worthy. And then when episode 27 opens, PM Zhuang is going to have his turn. The Directors knew these veterans are crucial to the drama. Many viewers may not have the words for it, but they can appreciate it.
Shakespeare would have been impressed. A strong-to-terrific ensemble cast is always necessary to elevate a drama to a certain standard.
Xia Jingyan across twenty episodes would be exhausting and not-so-enchanting, which is why it is good that his scenes were limited and ended on a certain note, to leave viewers wanting more. The Directors knew when not to overstay a specific role.

Yes, you did :) I studied Shakespeare as part of literature class during my teenage years, and my favourite plays of his would be "Julius Caesar", "Merchant of Venice" and "Macbeth". Fated Hearts is suited for people who prefer those works over "Romeo and Juliet" or "A Midsummer Night's Dream". I also enjoy watching plays in theatres, so my bar for measuring tends to be different, in that I expect above-average to strong acting from at least 90% of a cast and at least a good plot with not too many loopholes to finish a drama.
At the same time, I also grew up reading the likes of classics such as White Snake, Canonisation of the Deities, Journey To The West, and Dream of Red Mansion. Very rare to see a C-drama that recalls what I grew up with, for Mandarin and English.

VoS by Guo Jingming is most likely going to have sad endings for multiple characters (that's his style), so I want this director not to follow suit. Not asking for a wedding. Just something sweet and romantic enough to make viewers swoon. Their visuals are eye-catching, and this couple looks great together.

I have read the novel previously. I hope for a happy ending for our couple! Zhang Yunlong gave my heart too much of a workout in "Love in Pavilion". Any idea of when this might air, perhaps December 2026?
