Before throne fiasco, I think she fancied herself as this martyr who sacrifice herself for Cheng Xu safety. Not that I could see her as victim since I saw that she quite enjoyed her life, having the King favor.
But after Qi Yuan ascended to the throne, I felt her mind now shifted to all move on and supporting her son as emperor. She now fancied herself as all wise empress dowager who did everything for the greater good. Which she failed spectacularly in my opinion. Because retaining Qi Yuan on the throne is stupid thing that would bring disaster to many.
Is this even legit? I heard Cheng Yi is also auditioning for TGCF?
I also want to know. Because I don't know why this page suddenly exist. No rumor at all as far as I know. Perhaps other poster could fill in. But, I will be very happy if Cheng Yi truly will be casted in Broken Cloud 2. This is a dark and heavy drama. We need great actor
TGCF, I don't believe he did. I believe it is only rumor with bad intention because in all video I watched regarding Cheng Yi and TGCF, they kind of "mocking" him softly since they think he is not suitable.

If she didn't say nonsense about her heart belong to Cheng Xu bla bla bla, I would not this against her. Will mourn for Cheng Xu yes, but will be more understanding of Ming Yu POV. But now? Her action didn't show that she had Cheng Xu in her heart at all. She never thought of his pain at all. In her eyes, as long as he was alive, all was well. This was not love
Well similar casts is because the drama is HR company production. About the same character, kind of, i think because…
Agreed. I think he get this ability to show both fragility and strength within one character. Not an easy feat. There are lots others who have failed to do this. Either their strong period looks too weak or their weak period looks jarring and ugly.
I guess most (if not all) of us here agree that Cheng Yi has way to make being weak beautiful and heart-wrenching.
I am fine with the ML dying as long as he get the woman he loves. No more Ming Yu please.
Watching Helan Ming Yu is both maddening and tiring. No wonder WandereR said that her blood pressure always spiking when she watched the drama, hahahahaha.
Watching the trailer and seeing the relationship between both leads is soothing my hurting heart after watching The Promise of Chang An. There will be heart-break in this drama but seemed they both do love each other.

I watched episode 40-48 raw. Get the gist of it. Already hating Ming Yu so much in episode 45. Not to mention her bratty son. Watching them in subs will only fanning the flame, hahaha.
I hate it when Ming Yu always make Cheng Xu stepping down but never once she "punished" her son for his wrong-doing. If she hoped by Cheng Xu stepping down her son would be a better man, she was just deluded herself
I agree with you about how MY doesn’t know what she wants in life and how she wants her man to devote everything…
I did watch episode 36-39 where all the fiasco of throne fighting took place. All I see is heartless woman. Ming Yu has this tendency to jump into conclusion and always think the worst scenario. Her son live in hiding, etc, was her words. Cheng Xu would never let that kind happen to Qi Yuan. It was really cruel of her of thinking that way of Cheng Xu. And she didn't even know why Cheng Xu was so confident. She never tried to ask him properly. She just went immediately ballistic after Cheng Xu took Qi Yuan.
And her way to force Cheng Xu was so cruel. She spewed out all those grand things. Yes, I admit what she said is great and logical. But she never tried to think from Cheng Xu point of view. She thought the reagent position was enough, what more Cheng Xu could want? So naive! Men has their own pride and ambition. But did she ever think of this regarding Cheng Xu? Never. All she did all this time only forcing Cheng Xu down and down. For the greater good, she said. For your own safety, she said. But she never compensated him by giving him something. Did she ever help Cheng Xu in his ambition of getting justice? Nope at all. Worse, she wanted to sweep everything under the rug.
Cheng Rui has destroyed Cheng Xu life. Took his throne, his mother, the woman he loves, and a peaceful house since he forced Cheng Xu to marry crazy Su Yu Ying. And Ming Yu wanted him to just let go? Without a sliver of justice?
And I disagree on Cheng Xu don't deserve to be King because he was soft-hearted. It was not soft-hearted. It was integrity. It is a virtue that can inspire loyalty. Cheng Rui could defense himself all he wanted. But the fact was, he stole the throne.
I am prepping myself for watching episode subbed episode 37+. This will be bad for my health.
You flatter me, hahahaha. Thank you for the compliment.
I am a chinese descent and I grow up with the language since both my parents are fluent in mandarin so I am very familiar with it. However, unfortunately I have never learnt the language properly. Still, I can understand 80% or more of the conversation in modern or costume drama. In palace historical, my understanding goes down to 50% or less though because of the difficult vocabulary.
Regarding the cultural, my family also more or less still uphold the chinese tradition. So perhaps I can understand more of the chinese drama nuances compared with our western friends.

This will end by episode 50. After that episode, I plan to wait until all subbed episodes comes out to binge watched them using fast forward mode. Already invested this far, need to see the ending, especially how Ming Yu suffers
After watching this far, I am of the opinion that Ming Yu actually a woman who never know what she truly want in her life. Even though she was forced into marriage she didn't want, human could always adapt and find another aspiration. All I saw, Ming Yu just went on with the flow. At first she was all about move on, started to getting all chummy with the emperor. And then Xi Qi happened. Her mouth spewed out nonsense that she was understand the King plight but her action said otherwise. She acted as woman scorned. This told us that deep within she had this desire to be smothered by men surrounding her. She wanted her man to give his entire being to her but never I saw her doing the same thing to her lover.
Then she had a son. The way she acted toward her son was as if her son gave her life a purpose. She spoiled him rotten. If she only wanted happiness for her son, then don't make him an emperor. Being an emperor is not happiness. But what did she do? Strategizing to make her son emperor.
All this time, I can never understand what she truly want. Protecting Cheng Xu, hmmm her action in the second half made it debatable. Just living peacefully, then she should drink medicine to make her sterile in the beginning. Move on from Cheng Xu, sorry all her cold action toward the emperor said otherwise. Her son to be happy, the moment she insisted on making her son emperor had taken away that happiness.
She is really a fickle woman. Acting high and mighty with her wisdom but in the end all her pain is her own undoing.
