Ah Hikaru no Go. I am in the middle of watching that drama. The original manga and anime are one of my favorite years ago. Really love the direction the drama went to. Somehow the production team knows what the we truly want, hahahaha. Not to mention the chemistry between Yu Liang and Shi Guang also very natural and good.

Yeah, drama these days are too heavy on romance. It is very rare to find a simple brotherly relationship like those in Nirvana in Fire or in The Lost Tomb series. If it is not romance between man and woman, then it always bromance that stem from BL origin. Sigh ....... Not that I hate BL or something, but somehow I am wondering: Is it impossible for two persons from the same gender to be a very close friend without it develops to romance? Soulmate doesn't always have to be stemmed from romance relationship.

It is pure in a way. Just two person care for each other and connected to each other. Close friendship also one type of love. And this love actually could go beyond romance love. If doing right, story about close friendship actually could be more beautiful than romance.
I have watched The Lost Tomb 1 &2, The Tomb of the Sea. Reunion, I failed to finish it. It was very interesting at first, but I just could not go on once I reached the middle of season 1. The lack of Zhang Qi Ling was so glaring which made me annoyed at the female character they introduced; since I watch The Lost Tomb series for the iron triangle relationship.
Across all The Lost Tomb series I have watched, I actually like this one best. People said that the production is cheap and not as good as Reunion. I agree. But there are other things that people value, that could mask cheap production. One of them is chemistry between leads. I have to say that Ultimate Note has the best chemistry between Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling. I don't know whether it is because of the certain novel volume that they adapted here, the director/scriptwriter, or the actors themselves.
The acting perhaps is not as stellar as with Reunion (what can you say with Zhu Yi Long, hahahaha), but I can sense the spark everytime Joseph Zheng and Xiao Yu Liang in the screen together.
I think else from Yuan Bing Yuan agency, Huan Rui actually has some connection with Yang Mi agency. I hope to see Cheng Yi in a project with experienced actress that could match his emotional intensity.

The level of L&R CP obsession really baffles me. Looks here, I know they have good chemistry, but it is not in the level “unreplicable”. As it is now, every time Cheng Yi side announces his future drama, people always rave about wanting his co star to be Yuan Bing Yuan. I do feel grateful that a popular actor with good acting skill taking on this project. But in my eyes, xuanhuan novel adaptation is quite tricky. Once you change too much and irreparably changing the soul of the story, it is the end for me. Acting skill and the actor/actress didn't matter anymore. I sometimes suspect those scriptwriters are not xuanhuan novel fans at all, so they don't understand what make this genre so appealing for certain people.
Truth to be told, I have never found any successful xuanhuan novel genre (which Douluo Dalu fall into) drama adaptation. In the end, the scriptwriter always introduced too many change that butchered the original soul. Change is welcomed, but in moderation, and should not change the soul of the original novel. The change should enrich the story not otherwise. It was still fresh in my mind how Fight Break Sphere (adapted from Battle through the Heavens) was butchered beyond recognition. Perhaps it was a good drama for those who haven't read the novel, but for novel fans that drama was an abomination. No amount of good acting could save that drama for novel fans.
Based on the summary above, this drama seems to be followed the novel quite faithfully. However, the trailer actually didn't increase my confidence. Yes, it seems to have good production, but Tang San has a different aura compare to what has been depicted in the novel. But, lets see ..... I hope the drama at the very least will not butchered the cultivation system like it did in Fight Break Sphere.
Surprisingly this drama is quite good. Yu Men Long acting could be better, but he was quite alright in this drama. Also I saw that he had improved compared to The Love last Two Minds. I hope he can be even better in the future.
