Reunion drama is already done. Nothing can be changed anymore. Honestly, I haven't checked the Reunion novel so I cannot say whether the fault is already with the source or only with the adaption.

There is lots of comment under Ultimate Note video in bilibili. And other than praising the drama, there are some conversation where people sharing their grievance toward the novel author. It is quite sad actually.

They especially very salty about Xiao Bai being a fourth sister (this, I really need to watch Reunion season 2 to verify) and the fact that Fatty said to Zhang Qi Ling somewhere in Reunion season 2 to use his blood to repel something (I forgot). People compared Fatty act in Reunion with the fact that Wu Xie didn't let Zhang Qi Ling to shed more blood when they were fighting with spider in Ultimate Note.

Bilibili is kind of China youtube. As I have seen it through people comments, it seems there is some tension between the books fans and Xu Lei as the author. The culprit is the Reunion drama. Looks like the majority of books fans actually don't like that drama adaptation, citing Xu Lei only cares about money now and no longer love his own creation ..... Well, the reasons are actually pretty much familiar to us: unnecessary romance, Xiao Bai, lack of bromance and so on.

On the other hand, Ultimate Note is very much loved by books fans. You need to remember this novel series is more than 10 years old and lots of fans are already reading this series ever since their youth. Lots of them are praising this drama to sky high, especially the actor played as Zhang Qi Ling: Xiao Yu Liang. The douban rating for Ultimate Note and Reunion seems to be tied. And to rub the salt to the wound, Xu Lei actually didn't have any say or contribution to Ultimate Note. Please be noted too that Reunion has bigger budget than Ultimate Note. People are jesting that the Lost Tomb series that didn't have the novel author participation is actually better than the one has.

Perhaps this fact and people say in the internet don't sit well with Xu Lei. I read rumor (I don't know if this is true or not) that in some Xu Lei live broadcast, anyone who mentioned Xiao Yu Liang and Zhang Qi Ling is banned. So .... yeah .... I don't have high hope for any remake with Ultimate Note cast in this current situation.

We certainly can hope for a remake from the novel author production company. But, with current situation, it will be very hard for Ultimate Note cast to be part of it. I hope I am wrong though. The way people comment in bilibili is not raising any confidence .....

I am hoping to see a story centered on ancient Zhang family with Wang Cang Hai as villain instead .....

In short, Wu Xie will then enter the Zhang family house to rescue Zhang Qi Ling. They got out. By that time, Zhang Qi Ling somewhat recovered his memory. It is not clear how much he remembers, but he is clear on who he is and his responsibility as Zhang Qi Ling. They will separate again, right now on Zhang Qi Ling own term since he no longer that clean slate man that needed care from Wu Xie and Pang Zi.

After a certain time has passed, Zhang Qi Ling meet Wu Xie in Hang Zhao to say his farewell since it is time for him guard the bronze gate. Wu Xie insists on tailing him until they arrive at Changbai Mountain. There they have this conversation about Zhang family, Nine Family, and their responsibility regarding Bronze gate. So, the agreement is that Zhang family and Nine families will take turn to guard the Bronze gate every 10 years but no one from Nine families actually going. And now, it is actually Wu Xie turn to guard the gate as per the agreement. But Zhang Qi Ling decides to replace him instead.

Zhang Qi Ling knocks Wu Xie unconscious after the conversation and enter the bronze gate alone. Then the start of their 10 years promise that you can see in The Tomb of the Sea.

Exactly my question, too. I want book 8 of the main series to be adapted by the same production team and cast ...... I think this production team really know what the audiences truly want to see in The Lost Tomb drama.

I see. My first time watching Zeng Shun Xi is in Fighters of Destiny with Lu Han. He was okay but nothing exceptional. Next is Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber with him as Zhang Wu Ji.

I think his best work that I have ever seen of him is this Ultimate Note. He has a very good career trajectory. I can see he improved in his acting skill.

I think idol nowdays just a living product in the shape of human. I know I sound harsh but I don't think what those idols show to their fans are their true self. Everything is sculpted by their company that create them, including their persona and personality.

To be honest I don't like it when those idols turn to actor and then just relying on their popularity instead of acting skill to sell their dramas. They are called traffic actor. And their elevated presence in the drama industry is one of the reason why acting quality is plummeted in the industry.

Therefore, I am thankful that Xiao Yu Liang didn't continue with his idol route. He certainly can do better. It is a waste for his degree if he just become an idol. Moreover, The Lost Tomb is not an idol drama and he is appreciated because of his acting and fighting skill in this drama not just because his pretty face.

Oh, Zeng Shun Xi has that kind of history?? I never know. Well, good for him too for not continuing that idol route.

Yea, I do like Qin Hao acting in The Tomb of the Sea. Hahahaha, believe me I watched that drama with skipping lots of scenes. I literally skipped the scenes regarding Li Cu friends, and most of Su Wan drama. Liang Wan, I only watched her scenes with Zhang Ri Shan, hahahaa. I was mostly focusing on Zhang Ri Shan, Wu Xie, Black Glasses, and anything Zhang Qi Ling scenes.

As actor, they should not let the real life relationship hindering their chemistry on screen. It is your right to like Reunion as it is my right to dislike it since it cannot fulfill my certain desire when watching The Lost Tomb series. The very first thing that made me went into this franchise was Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling relationship and also the adventure genre. Take one of them and it will no longer The Lost Tomb for me.

I have no problem with the more mature setting and as I have stated above, I am aware that Reunion is more about Wu Xie, unlike the main series. But that is not the reason of depriving the drama of Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling connection. Not to mention the lack of screen time for Zhang Qi Ling, even when they were within one frame acting together, mostly I just couldn't feel it. Something just .... off, I cannot explain it. I have never commented about acting. And no matter how great is the acting, it is still useless when the "connection" could not be felt. I am a fan of Zhu Yi Long but even his acting could not make me stomach the drama. I will still finish that drama in later date since I need to know the ending. But, it doesn't change the fact that Reunion is lacking something essential.

And why we cannot complain? If we see something bad, we are entitled to say it as it is since we are the audience. We have the right to say like or dislike as long as it is done within reason and decorum. And I did state my reasoning why I feel that Reunion is lacking. Pretty sure I am not the only one who feel like that. I do thankful of Xu Lei for writing The Lost Tomb novel but in the same time I also feel that he no longer care about Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling connection in his series.

Glad to find a like-minded person!! There are lots of the so called Mad Feminist in today dramas. It is very difficult to find good FL currently. My last romance drama this year before I delve into Hikaru no Go and the like is The Moon Brightens for You. The FL there is good enough in my opinion. She is indeed stronger than the ML since the ML cannot practice martial arts, but I have never felt her belittle him. In a way, she looks up to him and pretty much valuing his advise.

It would be the best if they can re-shoot the whole main series with the same cast of iron triangle. Moreover, it will be very nice to see all those fighting scenes re-shot using Xiao Yu Liang as Zhang Qi Ling.

Yes, Zhang Qi Ling role truly is tailor made for Xiao Yu Liang. And based on what I have seen from his interview, he truly understand Zhang Qi Ling. I also want to see him depicted Zhang Qi Ling emotion during the farewell before entering bronze gate. I hope he will be called again to play Zhang Qi Ling in other Lost Tomb series. As I see it in weibo and bilibili, the majority of book fans (if not all) actually love him very much. Lots of them claiming that he is the Zhang Qi Ling from their imagination.

Yeah. Also, they pretty much "female", not male in female body. I hate those strong FL character that has this obsession to be better than man as if their worth is depended on whether they can defeat man. It is so maddening. As if a woman doesn't have anything worthy in regard to her feminine value.

In my opinion, I will call those people who learn to dance through idol training means (ala Korean idol in this age) an idol dancer, but I will call the people who learn dancing by the mean of academic education (the one involving university, academy, and certain degree) a professional dancer.

At that point of time, Wu Xie is indeed an evil emperor. Because of who? Yes, Zhang Qi Ling. In order to give him a safe place after he comes out from the bronze gate.

My point is, this Zhang Qi Ling seems to have an easier way to have chemistry with Wu Xie actor. Not to mention in real life his age difference with Qin Hao should be around the same as the age gap between Huang Jun Jie and Zhu Yi Long. If he could connect with an actor much older than him that way, then I have little worry about him unable to connect with a young Wu Xie.

The Tomb of the Sea is tolerable for me. The drama suffers from draggy plot considering the number of episode. The love story of Su Wan and Liang Wan is indeed too draggy but still tolerable compared with the one of Bai Hao Tian and other female character in Reunion.

The main thing that enabled me to endure The Tomb of the Sea is the plot and Wu Xie connection with Zhang Qi Ling. For the example when the first time he took Li Cu out to the desert, Wang Meng (or perhaps other people) called Li Cu Xiao Ge, Wu Xie immediately reprimanded him to never call Li Cu Xiao Ge again. It was only a small moment, but it spoke volume. From the start to the end, we knew just why Wu Xie did all of that and for who. I also can sense Wu Xie fondness for Zhang Qi Ling when they were in the frame together or when he was talking about him. Those little moments were so endearing.

Not to mention 2x speed. I literally watching the drama with skipping around through the duration bar. I don't understand the appeal of that kind of FL. How can the ML even fall in love with her?

Thankfully Ultimate Note is pretty much bromance. Huo Xiu Xiu is interesting and Ah Ning is .... tolerable. I literally hate the majority of woman character in Reunion drama ......
