I see, I have never read about the info that Xiao Zhan fans started to encouraging 4 stars instead of 5. From all the forum discussion I have read on douban, Xiao Zhan is very rarely talked in bad way. Yes, some of original fans criticized him for bad acting but I think that comment just made in anger and frustration because Xiao Zhan didn't depict the "correct" Tang San which mainly was the fault of script.

Yea, I also hear about The Wolf and The Legend of Fei scandal. As far as I know it was the fight between Xiao Zhan fans vs Wang Yi Bo fans. It was rather crazy in my opinion. I never understand why the fans of both actors are in each other throat since both were getting popular because acting as a "couple" in the same drama.

Not all passer-by in China is loving this drama. There are people who think this adaptation to be boring.

In Douluo Continent case, the IP is already very big so the evaluation from original fans will take a quite big chunk of percentage.

I think the people are banking too much on the original fans acceptance on this drama. As I see it from the war in the douban forum, the fight is not between fans and antifans. It is between actor/drama fans and original fans.

All negative review mainly come from original fans which frustration more or less the same as ours that depicted in our special thread. The actor/drama fans labelled those who give 1 star as hater while the original fans who see lots of 5 star fight back saying that all of them just actor fans (which mean their 5 star is biased and not truly reflected the drama true value).

In a way, the fight happens here in MDL more or less mirroring those in douban (the ones in douban just uglier and more brutal). I very much doubt there would be any producer want to make season 2 with this kind of situation, even more so whether Xiao Zhan still want to reprise his role as Tang San. And without Xiao Zhan, the season 2 will collapsed. As I see it, the only thing that holding this drama together is curious original fans and Xiao Zhan fans. By season 2, the disgusted original fans will not bother to check again. And the traffic brought by Xiao Zhan will also gone along with him. The pure drama fans will not be enough to support season 2.

About Tang San being half and half, he was born from his mother that has transformed to human. He is 100% human thus. He will get some awakening because of his blood from his mother later on that change his appearance and his blue silver plant to emperor blue silver plant. Because his mother practically the Queen of blue silver and thus making him akin to royalty in blue plant world.

Is this really true? I mean, we will never have Sea God Trial arc in this Douluo Continent drama while the premise of UTS in banked on Tang San being a god. Are they gonna change this as well??????

You might want to read BTTH novel. It is very good. Really love seeing Xiao Yan perseverance and confidence in order to be worthy of Xun Er. I love it when he finally goes to Gu realm to meet again with Xun Er. The reaction from her family is so enjoyable.

Xiao Wu is a 100,000 years old soul beast that transformed into human. Her mother is also 100,000 years old soul beast and she is killed to become the 9th ring of Bibi Dong. The premise of this IP, is that there is an enmity between soul beast and soul master since soul master needs to kill soul beast to advance in their cultivation which lead to the decreasing number of soul beast in the world.

Therefore, for Xiao Wu as soul beast to fall in love in Tang San who is a soul master is a big deal. In the tournament arc, Xiao Wu identity will be revealed to the soul hall which lead her to be hunted. Tang Hao will show up and save them. Tang Hao tells Xiao Wu to leave Tang San temporarily since it is very unsafe for Xiao Wu (still low level as soul master) to be roamed in the open and Tang San is still not in the level where he can protect both of them. So, they get separated for years. In this separation period, we will have Slaughter/Killing City arc when Hu Lie Na character become important since she is the one who accompany Tang San in this endeavor. However, because Tang San appearance has been changed by then, Hu Lie Na doesn't recognize him as Tang San.

After this arc, Tang San will go to Star Dou forest for looking for Xiao Wu. However, at the same time, the soul hall is out hunting for her. They are collided and Tang San ends up doing suicide in order to let Xiao Wu escape. At this time, Xiao Wu decides to sacrifice herself to become 6th spirit ring for Tang San so that he can survive. This "sacrifice" is something unique that could be done by 100,000 years old soul beast. After the sacrifice, the soul beast will loss all their cultivation and have to start from scratch once more.

Please be noted here, that only people that will advance to 90+ level (titled douluo) that will have ability to absorb a spirit ring from 100,000 years old soul beast. As Tang San is only low level at that point of time, Xiao Wu needs to literally sacrifice her everything including her soul so that Tang San could accept the ring. This sacrifice of Xiao Wu makes her impossible to ever "re-start" because she gives her all to Tang San.

In my opinion, the development of Xiao Wu from the first she decides to roam the world, meeting Tang San, fall in love with him regardless of her identity, and lastly sacrifice herself to become his spirit ring is quite beautiful. Especially if you look from the background of the war between soul beast and soul master.

You said it! I was so very annoyed at that Xiao Wu power up setting. Just .... what the hell. But I persevered at that time since I liked Tang San character. Sacrifice arc actually is very good. It truly showed how far Xiao Wu can go for Tang San and vice versa.

One of my colleague at work literally stop reading the novel once she got into the Sea God trial arc since she was annoyed at how the novel made Xiao Wu into damsel in distress, hahahahaha. But to be fair, Xiao Wu actually quite okay up to sacrifice arc.

It is actually difficult to have a great romance line in xuanhuan genre. One of romance line that I like is that of Xiao Yan - Xun Er in Battle through the Heavens (adapted as Fight Break Sphere) but the drama butchered that ......

I think @OniBro has explained to you very well about the stance of the original fans regarding this adaptation. I made a special discussion thread for us the original fans, one of the reason so that I would never ever read this kind of comment like you come out again. I have my own argument down below in this thread with someone thinking like you and it was just not pretty.

This drama is an ADAPTATION. So, the comparing to the original is inevitable. It is time for drama fans and actor fans to accept this fact. Not to mention, this is a big IP. You can enjoy it. I have not seen the original fans here telling people to not watch this drama. But, we have our rights to complain just as you have your rights to praise. All this nonsense about not comparing the drama with the novel because bla bla bla, we get all your argumentation already. We knew from the beginning that the drama will change something in order to escape the censor. But the change in this drama is just too much. It literally change the flavor of the entire IP.

You, who have not read the novel or watch the anime, will never be able to understand our frustration. And we are not asking of any consolation. As I see it, the majority that reply to our complain is also original fans. Please don't make a comment like this again. It sounds so arrogant in my point of view and in the core just tell us to shut up because original fans are pest. You might even make the neutral original fans angry and change their mind toward this drama.

I have restrained myself and constraining my complain to the special thread. But you cannot make all original fans banished themselves from the main thread. Also, I have never seen original fans abusing actor here. However, I do question your logic that actor is innocent. In a drama, director, scriptwriter, and actor have their own part to make the drama either good or bad. Because as you have said it, the actor has freedom to give flavor to their character.
