They are indeed very comfortable with each other. But this Zhang Qi Ling has already acted with another Wu Xie before in The Tomb of the Sea and in those short scenes I actually felt the connection was quite good. So, I have less worry about that compared with the fighting scene quality will plummet.

But of course it would be even better if Zeng Shun Xi could also reprise his role in book 8 so they can continue the chemistry already present in previous season.

Yea, the connection was so thin, it was nearly not exist. No normal friend will do what Wu Xie had done in The Tomb of the Sea. There is nothing wrong with such a close friendship that goes beyond romance anyway. And it was Xu Lei himself that create those kind of connection between Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling.

In the main series novel, I can see how Wu Xie realizing his own feeling toward Zhang Qi Ling bit by bit until finally in the end when Zhang Qi Ling makes that sacrifice of replacing him guarding the bronze gate, he finally understand his own feeling. Which lead us to Wu Xie as evil emperor in The Tomb of the Sea. Wu Xie goes from getting worried about his financial state when Zhang Qi Ling lost his memory in volume 6 (since he thinks that Zhang Qi Ling has become a dead weight at that time) to register Zhang Qi Ling under his household once he returns from the Bronze Gate.

In Reunion, by right, this connection should be even stronger than the one in Ultimate Note if we consider all that have happened in between. But, in the end what did we get in Reunion drama? Nothing at all.

Instead of calling him idol dancer, I think it is indeed more appropriate to call him a professional dancer. He holds a master degree for dance major after all. It is just he has a history of joining a boyband. Thankfully, he didn't continue on that road. And when he took Zhang Qi Ling role, he went without being a traffic actor.

Furthermore, he comes from a martial arts family. He learnt martial arts since childhood. Watching him played as Zhang Qi Ling is such a pleasure for me. For once, there is no abused usage of slow motion and every fight could be shown clearly with his face.

Correct. That scene in The Lost Tomb 1 actually comes from book 7. So the right place and time line for that scene is Ultimate Note instead of The Lost Tomb 1.

I am also wish that they will film book 8 with the same cast for iron triangle, especially that Zhang Qi Ling actor: Xiao Yu Liang. I have never seen a Zhang Qi Ling that truly touch my heart before him. Not to mention his fighting scenes are all superb. I just can no longer see those wuxia and xianxia dramas after watching him ........

I am filled with trepidation regarding the adaptation of book 8. Firstly, I don't know who is the current holder of the copyright of that particular book, high chance it is Xu Lei's now. And to be honest after watching his Reunion, I can no longer trust him to adapt his own books to drama.

Yes, I am aware the novel of Reunion is more about Wu Xie compared with the main series that more or less revolved around Zhang Qi Ling despite from Wu Xie POV. And I have not read the Reunion novel from the start so I cannot say things for certain. Still, that adaptation seems to lack soul that is making The Lost Tomb. I just felt uncomfortable watching it without knowing why at that time. Zhu Yi Long is one of my favorite actor and I do like Huang Jun Jie for his visual.

Once I watched Ultimate Note, I finally find the reason of my discomfort. It is "connection" between Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling. The main series literally begin with Wu Xie attracted to this mysterious character which continue to a kind of obsession in the end (No, I am not talking about romance since their relationship goes beyond that). What Wu Xie had done in The Tomb of the Sea literally was thanks to this very obsession.

Ultimate Note certainly has its flaw regarding production quality but fans endured it and wave it off. Why? Because they were emotionally touched by the "connection" that shown throughout the drama. Once the heart is touched, the brain will follow.

In Reunion, Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling seemed to be rather disconnected from each other. Yes, there were moments of tenderness between them for a few seconds here and there but I felt nothing from those. Unlike Ultimate Note, when every gestures spoke volume and thousand words. They were separated for 10 years! And Wu Xie went through hell literally for giving Zhang Qi Ling a "safe home". And when Wu Xie was dying ....... it was so flat.

Now with book 8 that is full of PingXie moment ..... I cannot see it will end well in Xu Lei hand since I see that he no longer respected this connection that exist between his own characters.

And Ultimate Note will end by next week ..... Aaaaa!! I want the same cast for book 8! Why they stopped only at book 7??? Don't say that we will get a cliffhanger as ending!!!!

I have never gotten attached to certain actor in The Lost Tomb series before. But now I am certainly getting attached to this Zhang Qi Ling actor. Not to mention his nuances when acted as Zhang Qi Ling, his fight scenes are superb. I notice there is nearly no slow motion used in his fighting scene. And the way he moves is so fluid and graceful. I am not ready for another actor acting as Zhang Qi Ling.

As far as I know, the next installment of The Lost Tomb series will be Heavenly Palace (set before Ultimate Note) and the cast is already set. I can only hope that when they film book 8, they will use Xiao Yu Liang as Zhang Qi Ling.

I am quitting romance drama for now. Needs some detoxing from annoying, entitled, damsel in distress, "better than man" kind of FL that fester in today dramas.

I have Hikaru no Go, Ultimate Note, and Psych Hunter line up to be watched until a better drama comes out this year.

Just watch the livestream. Don't understand anything but the interaction of the iron triangle put smile on my face. They are indeed seems very comfortable with each other. I saw they were very comfortable touching each other. Read the comment under the video in weibo. Lots of people actually wish they re-do the entire main series using this iron triangle, hahahahaha. Somehow, I do wish the same.

By the way, I really have to commend Zeng Shun Xi for his strength of piggy-back Xiao Yu Liang for multiple times in the drama. Xiao Yu Liang is quite slender but packed with muscle so it must amount to something.

I watched the video. Like you, I also not familiar with that particular pair. As far as I know the movie about The Lost Tomb is only the one with Lu Han and Jing Bo Ran. I don't remember there is other ....

I somehow feel her be the fourth wheel of the trio. It is an unpleasant feeling. I don't understand the need of her tagging along for so long. I did see the last few minutes of the final episode of season 2 and I saw Bai Hao Tian tagging along even after the adventure and I just .......

Is that so? Hmmm, I will find time to continue my watching then. Perhaps fast forwarding the warehouse arc with Bai Hao Tian is in order for me to be able to finish season 1 ..... I know lots of people like her but I am too annoyed with the lack of Zhang Qi Ling in the season 1, I just cannot tolerate her existence. Sigh ......

It was in episode 9 as far as I remember. So yes, it is pretty early in the series.

Hahahahaha!! But judging from the clips of Reunion that I have seen, Huang Jun Jie only showed his naked upper body once (in early season 1) when he showed a certain woman his tattoo so she would help them decipher the artifact.

I think among all actor who played as Zhang Qi Ling, it is Xiao Yu Liang who shows his body the most, hahahaha. In Ultimate Note, I feel that they always try to find excuse so he can show his body. Perhaps even the production team was aware he has the best body shape as Zhang Qi Ling.

That warehouse arc with Bai Hao Tian is the nail on the coffin for me to stop watching at all. Not even my love toward Zhu Yi Long acting skill could persuade me to continue. Perhaps will continue on later when I get the mood again.

Now with Ultimate Note, at least my thirst of Iron Triangle interaction is more or less satiated for now. All those interactions in this drama are feast for my eyes. And those nice Zhang Qi Ling fighting scenes make everything even sweeter. In all The Lost Tomb adaptation, else than Iron Triangle interaction, Zhang Qi Ling fighting scenes are the one I love the most.

Hahahahaha!! You are better than me. I even haven't finished Reunion 1st season. I stopped around episode 17, skipping until episode 20 and then full stop since I saw no Zhang Qi Ling on the horizon, hahahahaha. I plan to continue these days though since I want to see how the story ends. Since I hear people praising the chemistry between Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling in Reunion, I take that those chemistry happen in 2nd season?!

I have to admit that Yang Yang is the best Zhang Qi Ling in regards to looks. No one can best that in my opinion. But this adaptation brings something else to the table that can make me disregard the looks (not that Xiao Yu Liang is not handsome).

Currently, I think this adaption has the best Zhang Qi Ling. I like how Xiao Yu Liang shows us both strong and weak side of Zhang Qi Ling.
