Can someone recommend any awesome historical drama, some that will grip me attention from starts to end, tried…
My most favorites: Joy of Life, Eternal Love/10 miles of Peach Blossom, Scent of Time, Romance of Tiger and Rose, Female Student Arrives at Imperial Collage, Sleuth of Ming Dynasty, Bloody Romance, Legend of Fuyao, Lost You Forever, Word of Honor. Good/not bad dramas like Hilarious Family, Story of Kunning Palace, Story of Ming Lan, the Long River, Royal Nirvana.
Read the novel, I think I am in love with Yin Hua Yue character. I can see Zhao LuSi play her and I want to see Deng Wei as Li Jing Yun. It might be out of his normal character but will be very interesting to see him act fed-up of FL tailing him every where. In the book says Li Jing Yun is "born very well, with trimmed temples and eyebrows, and tall and straight. The Golden Boys" like Deng Wei to me.
Wow....that's a long comment there...thank you. I like your observation and comparison in dramas so we can have…
YouTube: [ENG SUB] Xiaozhan Interview for 爱思不si (Full) @ 9.12 Xiao Zhan implied he might want to stay single by choice. I really think he has angelic face, the older he is he's beefing up, look matured and manly. As a girl below average looking, I praise to GOD He creates such a beautiful man on earth (besides Keanu Reeves) for us to have visual feast. LOL. Whatever he'll do in the future, for sure I'll watch him grow. He might be like Hu Ge who got married on later age (Damn, who's the luckiest girl?)
Last Immortal: I wish the production team did their drama better than what it is. They could actually shorten the episodes A Yin & Gu Jin and focus on Feng Yin & Yuan Qi. 24 bad episodes and made many fans disappointed while only 16 ep things make sense. Every fantasy Xian Xia CGI work are generic products, what director should do is minimizing the use of CGI and more into real setting like 'Lost You Forever.' While AnYu is young, him and Chen Xue Yuan is more suited for modern setting. There're certain people that are good doing costume dramas like Wu Lei, Deng Wei, Zhang Ling He - they carry certain aura for period dramas.
Oh btw, have you watched 'Scent of Time' that's really a good drama. Wang Xie Yue was awesome, as well as Li Yun Rui (again he got dumped by a girl). It's a sad tragic love with happy ending. I recommend it. As a tall man 6'2 make sense Liu Yu Ning tends to slouch, we see him doing that in his dramas, hope he'll make a smash with ZLS. Have a great weekend.
You mentioned both Xiao Lusi and Xiao Zhan in your review. I happened to like both of them since the drama Oh!…
Wow....that's a long comment there...thank you. I like your observation and comparison in dramas so we can have educated opinion about all matters in definition of good dramas. I appreciate dramas that have mix literature, comedy, realism, dramatic (tragic) romance, action, skills of every aspects require in producing dramas. Xian Xia isn't my fav, generic CGI we see is the same replica from others and story/plots are ridiculous - in my opinion this genre kills creativity and talent. It's all come down to the acting of actors to make it believable, good script (flowing, connected to audience & witty dialog) when it doesn't deliver we rave in disappointment. Many says we shouldn't say bad things or I shouldn't watch it if I don't like it, the thing is we invest time and money watching selected drama. We pay membership on account monthly, but importantly those producers should listen to opinions for the better for their future projects - what's the market want. The actors should do better with their skills, all rave isn't personal, it's for their own career/self development.
Longest Promise (Xiao Zhan & Ren Min) I felt like Xiao Zhan has benefaction of man's beauty (Don't shoot me for this comment) and Ren Min din't make a cut. Longest Promise in Ren Min 2nd costume drama (after Serenade of Peaceful Joy). It's hard for Xiao Zhan to find compatible FL, he's too beautiful I can't see anyone stand next to him play his love interest. What Xiao Zhan need is actually find FL who're skill with their acting and Ren Min didn't deliver. People told me off 'petty self' but seriously though successful drama are usually compatibility in actor's look (even Beast transformed to a handsome prince in Beauty & the Beast to marry Belle) especially entertainment pros livelihood is in appearance & look. Xiao Zhan & Zhao LuSI were very green when they're in My Emperor! Love them both in that drama and Xiao Zhan should be ML instead of Jason Koo. I think JK should be out entirely in that drama...LOL! Give me LuSi and Xiao Zhan!!!
The Last Immortal (Zhao LuSi & Wang AnYu) for fact I love their photo shoots and interaction together. I just don't like ZLS acting as A Yin...so dang annoying!! Enlarging her pupils like excited toddler. As Feng Yin she has stiff neck, she could actually act regal like Liu Shi Shi, but all that she acted as directive by the director - not too mention bad CGI. SO I blame solely to that guy. ZLS has been with great ML in amazing drama, handsome AnYu can't improvise GuJin guilt and heartbroken into Wu Lei heart wrenching expression of Ling Bu Yi or sadness in Chen Xue Yuan (Hidden Love) audience expect more from the guys LuSi partner with. First time in costume drama isn't an excuse, just thinking that this is one shoot - one chance to be recognized that will stay with audience and LuSi is along with the ride. Don't blow it away.....
The bar is high both for Lu Si & Xiao Zhan future Main Leads. They can't just simply pick new comers and any scrips in their way. Lu Si is still young while Xiao Zhan is 32yo...time is ticking for him...he has another 5-8y before fade away (Nothing Hill quote: "One day from now and my look will go away, they'll discover I can't act and I'll become some sad woman who looks a bit like someone who's famous for a while") He should be thinking another line of profession (like a director) before long if he wants to stay relevant. Jacky Chan isn't always an actor....Xiao Zhan should learn it's craft now. Ah...nice talking to you.
I agree with you, I dropped Journey of Love in ep 24 too much PDA in between scenes. I am more appreciate those…
Your post was confused me because I didn't write stuff you concern about. It might sounded 'right to the point' and since you addressed it to me, I advised you to read just my post to avoid misunderstanding or misapprehension. It's only drama, not worth to be argued about. Cheers....
PLEASE PLEASE AND PLEASE. make this a FEMALE ECCENTRIC WORK! and Not all about romance!! I love romance but you've…

I rewatch the drama and appreciate it better than when I watched it in 2020. I can say that I like it better and understand the plots more. Highly recommended.
