Romanticizing the wrong parts of a relationship seems to be a long term problem in all romance plots... So I guess I can't be too upset... Just look how popular Twilight & Fifty Shades both were... And they had objectively More toxic relationships & Romanticizing of that toxicity.
Perhaps they wanted to portray how love really does make a person blind to the flaws of those they love, even at their own expense... I just hope in that universe, the little brother does eventually realize how horrible his behavior was, and how lucky he is that his older step brother is so forgiving...
Watching on WeTV app, subtitles vanish after 38:10...donI need to re-download the episode, or is the series just that badly supported on the app because of the bad reviews?
I am enjoying the world building, but seeing what others have to say... I'm more than a little worried about overall watchability.
Whomever invented the vertical format needs to go sit in the time out corner for......like......FOREVER. Geez…
Hate the format and the whole concept of it really.
Sure, having bite sized BL is nice... But not when it gives the impression that it could be more than it is.
Short form content should be like the skits in old cartoons, like Loony Toons and other old franchises that thrived on neat little packaged stories, complete on their own, but can contain some running themes like bugs bunny and the carrots, and so on. Not these evolving romances that appear to require development... And then never grant the viewers insight into the evolution of the relationship dynamic... It takes what is already a highlight reel of events. And cuts it into even smaller highlight reels...
It's basically making what's wrong with BLs like Tharn Type, where the time line is so vague that people get really angry about what it portrays, because they forget that a significant amount of time has passed from the first episode to the last (literal years pass)
Which makes the events seem even more toxic than they are in that series as it stands... When a series is diced up to the size of these shorts... It loses too much.
Tharn Type really was a toxic series, but the lack of clear passage of time did exacerbate the toxic aspects... But apparently the source material was even worse.
Conversely in series like this, even without toxic dynamics... The disassociation here is that too much time is passing without the audience being included, leaving us worse off in the opposite manner. We're too aware that time has passed, and that, in and of itself, disrupts the whole pacing and storyline.

So... Yeah... If Dramas are highlighted entire arcs of drama... Series like this are highlighting only the bare minimum like a person IRL might be able to observe.
In the world of this series all 40 episodes take place over an entire year it would seem. With the largest time skip being between 38 & 40

16/40 About half the episodes are them low key flirting with each other, even as the teacher is trying to maintain a professional distance... The student is definitely the one in charge in this relationship dynamic, despite the teacher being the one with theoretically more authority... But the student has money, and money is usually enough to make authority hollow in situations where reputation with those who have money, is more important than the status of a low level teacher... And rumors of less than advisable relationships with students...
I should take mky own advice and not take it seriously... But someone else made a comment that they couldn't see how these two fell in love, and I personally can see it just fine. 🤔
Maybe that person simply didn't have the same background I do, and therefore sees things differently as a result. 💁🏼♂️
Only on 7/40...it's clear that the teacher is the submissive type, and the student is the bully who likes his teacher. 😂
This is a series you watch without any brain power... Just enjoy the absurdity and the rather aggressively forward Student as he ceaselessly teases and irritates the new Teacher. A teacher who obviously is conflicted with his own preferences to live without conflicts, only to have the most conflict heavy series of interactions...
Conflict aversion can sometimes be as bad as always seeking conflict after all. 😅
This history story chapter definitely had its flaws, but it was still very enjoyable imo.People in the comment…
H4 was pretty bad with the Stepbrother situation... Some parts should have been left out if they wanted to make the relationship dynamic more socially acceptable... Instead they made it even worse, fed the fears about power dynamics problems and more... Though the irony is that it's the younger of the two with the less acceptable behavior, and the more manipulative traits... So maybe that was the goal? To prove that it's not always the older one who weilds the power in such a dynamic?
How the hell does it romanticise abuse and mental illness. He ends up with the healthiest relationship, the romance…
Basically the issue is that people who watched it, are romanticizing the problematic aspects... The Red Flag culture as I'll Call it henceforth.
I am glad the series itself actually shows how unhealthy and damaging such relationships are for the people involved, and how there should be consequence for toxic and unhealthy behavior.
I mean... The Boys in Love gang are pretty good people... Surprisingly low key, and chill... And honestly... I could use friends like that, whose biggest worries are all relatively addressable, and far less traumatic than my existence... Even the one with completely dysfunctional parents at least has a good relationship with his family... Never had anything like that honestly.
Sure, I have an awesome and loving grandmother... But the rest of my family is pretty toxic.
As for friends... How could I make friends with people who remind me of those who have even tried to kill me... That's definitely not the kind of trauma you can simply gloss over... And yes, my bullies actually did go as far as to attempt that sort of thing... It's only due to my even more traumatizing luck, that I'm alive. Seriously... If I had gotten hurt, maybe I could have had some closure and revenge... But because I keep getting out of a situation before it results in physical harm... I just emotional damage, and generally dismissed.
Is the source material BL? that would answer the question in part... Unless it's Antique Bakery round two, where the creator turns out to have intended it to be the basis of a BL... 🤔
only if it's tagged as "bromance" the ending won't be happy 😭😂 this one isn't
You're correct, I didn't understand what you intended, and yeah, this is largely uncensored, particularly to other contemporary BLs from the same place.

Leon clearly has more than fallen for his teacher. 🤣

Apparently it aired on GagaOOLala, and they had it in a split episode format.

From the way some people write about this... That's not how it ended up? Not sure since no one is really invested in talking about that...
that would answer the question in part... Unless it's Antique Bakery round two, where the creator turns out to have intended it to be the basis of a BL... 🤔
No death, no inexplicable separation either.
Could it be portrayed as an old Disney HEA...?
Maybe, but the ending is comfortable and not sad for the MCs
