I just completed Legend of Fei & Douluo Continent both of which I loved and couldn't wait to watch the next episodes…
It gets a lot easier to watch around episode fifteen or twenty! I was the same way, but once you get past the flashback (which if I remember right ends around episode 30) the drama picks up pace quite quickly. You'll also appreciate the setup so much more once you get to the present time. I would suggest pushing on if you feel up to it. This drama is definitely worth it in my opinion!
50 episodes is definitely a big undertaking and I hadn't watched one so long either before this drama. However, by the end I was wishing for more episodes.
Is this worth watching after watching the whole 50 episodes of the normal version?
If you're really in CQL withdrawal I would say yes. I personally caught up on most of the other material before watching this version. It's really just a compact version of the 50 episode drama but has some different angles, a few added scenes/shots, and the ending is arranged differently with an added scene. I think it's worth it but some of the watchers didn't find too many differences. You really have to look for them in some cases.
I know that kdramas can't exist without product placement but oh my god... this drama is so great but the product…
I've seen that happening with more Korean dramas recently unfortunately. Definitely takes away from the moments. Some do it tastefully and others are just super obvious about it (*cough cough* The Eternal Monarch) Never watch a Thai drama though if you haven't already ventured into that drama realm. I always end up snorting because the product placement in Thai dramas is even more blatant and is shot exactly like a commercial. They don't bother hiding it and go straight for the product placement kill. xD
HELP! I just finished The Untamed and I need a rebound drama. I'm going to plan a rewatch of the show (and I never…
If you're open to anything, I would suggest Chicago Typewriter, Hotel De Luna, Ancient Detectives, and Romance Of The Tiger and The Rose to name a few. Are you looking for any specific genre?
That's the first time I've heard that, lol. Most watchers are the other way around with being eh about the first…
No, I'm not offended at all! We just had completely different watching experiences. Despite the censorship in China, I really felt Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo did a wonderful job displaying the beautiful relationship between the characters. I think it was all in the simple yet sweet gestures and looks between the two that did me in. xD The end for me was so perfect because I think it showed how they decided to grow on their own before coming together and meeting again. At least, that's how I interpreted it, lol. I would highly suggest reading the book if you're looking for more satisfaction with their romantic relationship! I personally love the pure relationship depicted here, but the book gives more solid closure as well as some *ahem* spicy scenes. The 20 episode version also has a different editing to the end with an added scene that you may find more satisfying. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as you expected to!
ok so i heard so much hype from this drama and i was so looking forward to their hidden love and just i was looking…
That's the first time I've heard that, lol. Most watchers are the other way around with being eh about the first half and loving the second half xD May I ask what you didn't like about the second half?
The way I see it, when WWX says this line he's referring to the promise they made long ago to protect the weak…
Yes, that's it exactly. I have watched that scene probably a dozen times and it still breaks my heart.
Of course, anytime! You're not the only person who has gotten confused by some scenes since there is quite a lot going on in this drama. I'm really glad I could help! I honestly love rewatching scenes and getting the chance to take in details I might not have noticed before ^^
The way I see it, when WWX says this line he's referring to the promise they made long ago to protect the weak…
Yes! It is the white and black rules that the rest if the sects and general society have put into place and taught. The moment WWX learns to use the different cultivation it separates him from the rest of society. It is dark and scary and now WWX is obviously no longer his carefree self. However, LWJ and Jiang Yanli are the only ones who sincerely care for the outcome. The rest of the society that has put these rules into place are merely greedy for power and scared.
LWJ has, of course, very high values and many rules telling him what is right and wrong. This is even more cemented into him since he comes from the Lan Sect with their vast wall of rules. Everybody around him is telling him WWX is going down the wrong path and even WWX's brother is succumbing to what the rest of society is saying at this point. It's such strong scene between the two because LWJ has to choose between what he has been taught his entire life and what his heart is telling him. It always gets me right in the feels. T_T
*SPOILER* could someone help explain something to me? I love this series but at the beginning of ep 27, the scene…
The way I see it, when WWX says this line he's referring to the promise they made long ago to protect the weak and do what is right with no regrets. He knows LWJ actually cares for him and is righteous to the point of doing what needs to be done for the right reasons. LWJ is also the only person who is equal, if not better, to him in a fight. The rest of the sects are jealous and greedy and they only want to hurt him because of the power he has. LWJ's heart is pure and unwavering. WWX is saying if the time comes when he should be killed he hopes that LWJ would be the one to do it because of this.
This scene is very important as it is the turning point in which WWX is really separated from the rest of "orthodox" society. LWJ letting him go with the remains of the Wen sect is against this orthodox society and goes against everything his teachings tell him. I think this is the moment where LWJ starts to question what he has been taught and whether there are grey areas to things. On one hand he is worried that WWX is practicing dark cultivation but, on the other hand, he knows what the rest of the sects are doing isn't right either. I think LWJ cries because he is letting WWX go in more ways than one here. There is a lot of emotion jam packed into this scene and whether you insert the romance aspect into it or not, LWJ is letting his closest confidant go. I hope this helps! I'm not the best at explaining things, lol.
I used to never drop dramas, but more recently have been learning when it's time to give up on a drama. I think to date I've dropped maybe five dramas but I've never boarded the constant drama drop boat. Sometimes I feel bad about dropping when I'm far enough in or I was enjoying it up to a certain point. I do tend to employ the handy dandy skip button when needed.
I don't know why i was putting this off for so long but i finally binged it today.. it's SO good. the chemistry…
I know, I thought they were going to do a blocked kiss moment where it just appeared like they would kiss. I was satisfied with the little kiss and it was so cute. ^^ Their chemistry is so good and honestly carried their coupling.
not a fan of bl or Chinese historical or long dramas but this one has too many positive reviews so maybe I'll…
Hey! There's actually an FAQ in the discussions board that answers a bunch of questions/concerns about the drama. It might help you decide if you want to watch it or if it's not your cup of tea. :)
