Alright... So I watched the first episode because this drama had rather positive ovations and it looked like something…
I’ve seen most of the crowned clown and I thought the first episode was one of the best I have seen in a long time, and I like YJG (ml) he’s a good actor, his movie Monster Boy was good

I have a recommendation, though its not asian. North & South by BBC (2004) has an overall somber feel throughout the show. I don't think it has any humor at all, but it is one of my favorites. Its a miniseries and deals with the harsh realities the characters go through. I love the music, its beautiful. I know I went on but at least give it look if you haven't. You might like it

Yeah it seems to be the trend, but I’ve noticed it usually only lasts the first couple episodes. Like with my Dearest it takes 3 episodes to get past the focus on the fl. My Country has its moments with cringe humor, but a good chunk of the show is more serious (the last few episodes aren’t that great tho) but I did like most of the show. Even in Tale of Nokdu which is supposed to be comedy, takes a serious turn the second half of the show.
Ok I’m on 5 and for me it got better after episode 3, bcs the fl was intolerable. The ‘romance’ isn’t in the forefront so that’s another good thing in my opinion.
It’s pretty intense all throughout, I’m used to there being at least bits of humor to lighten up the tension here and there, but there’s been none. It works, and the acting is so good.
Did anyone else notice some of the nods to PSJ's previous roles. Like Kang Ha Neul from Midnight Runners, the mention of Be Melodramatic, and the guy patting his hair for Itaewon Class.
It’s very cute, though the ending was vague. I think they should have given a little closure with the end animation, since it essentially became about them. Like in the movie WALL·E at the end. Bcs you’re left wondering do they do a LDR or does he wait for her when she comes back or do they eventually move on. It just was a non satisfactory ending. But eh oh well. :)
The guy’s a straight up A-hole and the girl has no self respect. Different cinematography and reimagined classical background music do not make up for pathetic characters.
