Yes I definitely see where you are coming from. He knew he would face some reluctance from her parents so he got help from the king.

Some thoughts on LBY's request of the king in ep24. I would love to hear your thoughts :)
A less discussed aspect is LBY's proposal to NN. He requested that the king make a formal proposal for him to marry NN. I feel like LBY's decision of such a public proposal with the help of the king's power is kind of... forceful? At this point only LBY has feelings for NN, and while NN /may have/ some feelings for him, she definitely does not realise this yet and did not intend to marry him. In fact, she mentioned in the same episode that she knows LBY isnt an easy person to get along with.

LBY has been biding his time with NN all this while, being patient and not being too assertive with her. Perhaps almost losing NN to LY made his resolve to be with her even stronger, but I feel like LBY all along has been very considerate and thoughtful of her so his proposal seemed sort of out of character? For example, he requested that his donation to Hua county be kept anonymous because he just wanted to help her. Or that time when he requested the king issue an imperial edict to NN for doing so well in Hua county, and having it announced when NN and her family were at LY's residence, to boost the honour of both NN's family and LY's family. All these actions tell me that LBY is a very thoughtful person. So this sudden public proposal request of the king just seemed kind of... off to me.

So TLDR is, I felt that LBY's manner of proposal was very pressurizing for NN and her family. First of all, a public proposal like this by a reputable general like LBY would make it already hard to reject because you don't want to ruin the reputation of this general. Second of all, a proposal pushed BY THE KING himself makes it even more impossible to reject without repercussions. While this can be considered a "sly" or smart move by LBY, if I were put in that situation, I would have been so stressed out.

What are yalls opinions on LBY's manner of proposal?

Upcoming summer movie on Netflix Cross fireTomb of the sea Fights break sphereOur times ❤️
I would like to warn you about Fights Break Sphere. So far only season 1 has been released, and not much news on season 2. Season 1, if I recall, ends on a cliffhanger too. The drama was not too spectacular either, so I recommend giving it a total pass, or waiting after some news of season 2 has been announced orrrrrr you could just watch it to see how Wulei's acting career has advanced over the years haha :)

The art director is from Love & Redemption…. This is his signature tackiness. His CGI is always intense colors…
The cinematography and OSTs for Blue Whisper are absolutely amazing for me! They really highlighted the different moods in the drama, be it sadness or epicness and the like. Highly recommended :)

Yuan shanjian's character is utterly useless in this drama. All his character does is be annoying, condescending and disrespectful to CSS. It feels like a waste of time watching his scenes if not for the involvement of CSS in them. I know its wishful thinking but I seriously wish his character disappears in part 2 but of course that's probably not gonna happen :/

Same, on episode 3 and feel like falling asleep. Not sure why those episodes got 9+ ratings. Must be from fans…
Darn thats a pity. Maybe putting it on 1.5x speed will help? For me the family conversations can be very wholesome and heartwarming (or just irritating) but they dont feel as slow now. Though, if this drama really isnt to your liking then you can always drop it :) cherish your precious time!

Edit: PS ep8 is hilarious

have patience it will get so much better after episode four and you will laugh a lot
Yes I definitely agree her mother loves her too, but as people around her say, she is someone who is rigid and sticks to the rules. I know eventually the mother will bend her ways and mend her relationship with niao niao :)

I'm now up to episode 6 and everyone was absolutely right! It got so much better! Its really wholesome watching Niaoniao's brothers stand up for her and smother her with all the love she deserves from all those lost years.

You have to get past episode 4. It improves after that but remains a slow burn drama.
Okay, I will push on through episode 4 and see if I'm ok with the improved pacing. Thank you!! :)

Hey guys I just started watching this drama, I'm on episode 2 now, and the drama has been extremely slow so far that I've been putting ep2 on 1.5x speed. I'd just like to know if the pacing gets better or it remains the same throughout? If its the latter then this drama may not be for me :(

I agree. With the new dubbing regulations we have some hope that more actors will dub themselves in dramas now :) I am also not against dramas with >50 episodes as long as the storyline does not drag or is not filled with unrelated side plots. Ultimately I just wish that more better quality cdramas can be produced.

While it is true that the longer the show the more resources are needed, at the same time drama producers earn money with each episode they air, hence why cdramas tend to be soooooooo long and filled with so many unrelated side plots so that they can stretch the amount of episodes to be aired. The 40-episode rule is probably a way to salvage cdrama's plot quality that has become watered down due to capitalism ahahahah

Oooh I didnt know TLB earned the casts international awards! I really liked that drama too. Seriously what a bummer :( Eng subs being provided for kdramas was one of the major factors that allowed it to flourish internationally. I wish cdrama producers and chinese streaming platforms can recognise the power of eng subs to take their dramas (and even chinese culture) to greater heights.

Well I guess we should be consoled by the fact that TBW did really well in China :D
