Feels like they have taken a tell not show approach with the ML in these last few episodes and sidelined his presence hard. Like we barely see him more then twice per episode in the last 3-4 eps (30-34) and they just talk about his presence instead or have him in his short scenes say he is doing something. It's such a stark difference from the 1st half of the drama that is why im having a hard time accepting it.

Dude the political plot ain't that complicated and all it took was a few minutes exactly, the rest was boring filler with the leads yearning but not even being in the same scene together.

My biggest issue from ep 31-32 is this was supposed to be another angsty breakup between the 2 leads but they are barely in any scenes together before making up again. Just felt like I was watching boring filler until the episodes ended. There was like 4 total scenes with them together for about 10 mins or so ep time like come on.

Everything you mentioned happens, His lying to FL is presented as wrong to her, He apoligizes for his forced kisses when leaving. FL doesn't forgive and forget right away (but she isnt a stone who just hates him now), and yes his lies cause unexpected trouble that force his identity to be revealed. And as of last ep, they mutually part to handle their own business giving each other space

XZ has been yearning about his wife for months and they finally meet again and are being lovey dovey. If he decided to go "oh yea im also the marquis of wuan and was lying about all that to, alright now thats over let's keep hugging" No, she would instantly anger again and slap him again and immediately threaten to leave with Changning. He doesn't want that is it that hard to understand. It has to happen of course, but do you think he cares about that right now dude just wants to hug his wife 🤣

2) No, there is a 2nd ML that loves the FL and sticks around her like glue, but FL rejects him and never gives him a chance really.
3)Like little to no fluff with majority angst as the show progresses
4) They never officially get together as of ep 32, they of course are together alot but its cause ML follows FL around
5)they have like 3 mini breakups where upset FL runs away from ML (mini cause they aren't even dating technically)
6) ML is demon clan leader, and FL is from righteous good guy sect, wouldn't say misunderstanding but that everyone paints ML as bad guy who FL shouldn't trust and she sometimes believes them

She can be strong willed all she wants, but she is also unchanging and unwilling to adapt for anyone but herself which I find selfish. You can blame MQY all you want but his "schemes" weren't just him manipulating her to get with her, he has a goal and he has stated it multiple times revenge but also to be with her openly and accepted which Zhao does not seem to want for them which is where her unwillingness to change is wrong imo.

Oh I am on the same boat huge fan of Neo and the 1st half of the show was actually super entertaining. Then when he got his memory back it just took a turn for the worse between the main leads and made every episode just annoying to watch sadly.

glory is everything you described disliking about generation to generation but x100. The ML gives up everything for the FL at every turn only to get spurned, rejected, or a little bit of affection. It truly ruined my viewing experience.

Well he never actually saw her playing the game, only met her disguised at the academy and then snitched to the empress dowager only then realizing she was that girl after seeing the bracelet he gave the monk.
