To people complaining about how the science is not accurate, a reminder once again (not sure why I have to repeat this in every scifi).
There are two types of science fiction. 1. Soft scifi. Factual science is not impoatant. 2. Hard scifi. It is as close to currently known science (at the time of production) as possible.
It is very unfair for the authors to rate them negatively just because they wrote soft scifi. Soft scifi was the intention right from the beginning and you're rating them negatively because of their choice.
Nowhere in the movie did they ever claim or hinted or implied that it is hard scifi. The plot is about the kid and the former director, as well as, the deep desire of the people of Korea to change the global landscape on the "new" space race.
You don't need hard scifi for that story, it is not a space opera nor is the plot about the science.
Let's be fair and rate the show for what it is.
Besides, it doesn't even matter if it is soft or hard, from the genre itself "scifi" or "science fiction", the clue is there, FICTION. Since it is fiction, the author have the literary freedom to write it the way s/he want, especially, again, when the science is only used as a plot device.
This is the best "Moon" to date. The #Kdrama industry once again has proven that they can produce top notch #scifi productions. They never cease to amaze me on how they can keep the human aspect strong in their stories without it turning into a regular drama. I highly recommend this!
There were a few. I remember seeing on a preview that the mother of the three sisters was against the ML and the…
They also hinted that the FL is a descendant of a long line of Agents of Love on the early episodes, then slowly that disappeared and she became just a lucky matchmaker.
If she ending is she's definitely not are agent of love, the would die soon. The way I see it, the only way she can live is if she herself is an agent of love, because then the curse of dying young would be cancelled because her new husband is an agent of love as well.
However, in the ending, to solve it, they made them both "die" by their legal identity; and now they are living with a new legal identity.
Which is, well, still problematic. The ML is still an agent of love. LOL. Whoever he loves, will die young.
While the overall flow of the changes turned out good, the finer details got mixed up. Hehehe.
Yes. Let me explain.1. It is not for the ML to reveal the truth to the FL. It is rude to reveal that information,…
It's not an argument, it's a fact of life.
I also noticed how you addressed each item except the privacy law. That means you acknowledge it. If so, then the privacy law on health is more than enough reason not to reveal anything.
;P
You see, as you meet more people and learn of the world more, you will realise that there is a proper time and place for revealing the "truth". Yes, the truth will always prevail, however, revealing it at the wrong place and/or at the wrong time, may do more harm than good.
Of course, I'm assuming here you are younger than me, and haven't seen the world for what it truly is. This is something you will only learn from experience.
We have our principles. We have our beliefs. But one day you'll be in a situation wherein you have to choose between following your principles and beliefs, or finding a workaround it.
He took the job to be a forecaster because he wants to protect the people he cares about. That is true. However, not revealing private health information is by itself also protecting the people he loves.
If he did reveal the situation to the FL, how would she react? I'll give you the most common reactions: 1. The relationship between the FL and her mother will start to deteriorate. 2. The FL will be very angry. 3. The FL will force her mother to do this and that, and not do this and that. Which will ONLY STRESS her mother. For one, the sisters will stop her from diving ever again. Which obviously their mother will not. 4. Their relationship will further strain. They will start shouting at each other. 5. The mother will start saying things she's been keeping herself from saying, which will surely hurt her daughters.
Also, the ML knew revealing the private health information of someone wouldn't change anything. Thus, it is better to suggest to bring her mother to the doctor instead of it coming from him.
In addition to that, there is also the possibility she developed a heart problem because of what happened to the ML's mother.
People joke and dismiss that "heartbroken" is only a figure of speech. Guess what? It isn't. It is actually dangerous as it weakens our heart. Yes, the more intense a person's heartbreak is, the higher the chances of developing a heart problem. You can search online for peer reviewed papers about that yourself. :)
So, what if the ML also knew that the cause of her heart problem is linked to that accident that happened years ago?
What would you do if you were in the ML's shoes? Would you carelessly reveal the information knowing full well how your ex will react? How it can turn ugly and only stress out their mother's weakening heart?
Again, there is a proper place and a proper time to reveal the truth. We learn these things as we grow into adulthood
We don't reveal the truth just because. It's irresponsible.
As for the FL throwing her career away, it was not for.the story reason. How can a character make a decision like that? Do you make decisions "for story reasons"?
No. The FL made her decision to go back to her hometown because that is the best option in her current situation. I think the show made it very clear. She did not throw away her career, it was to save her career.
If she continued to fight for the truth when not a single soul would hear her side of the story, it will, I guarantee you, destroy her career permanently … globally.
Again, we come back to the core of it all, the "truth".
The FL did not give up the fight. By hiding, she made a statement that she will be back stronger than ever.
In warfare, retreating, and sometimes surrendering to the enemy, is the best decision a king/president/general can ever make. Fighting to the death just because you know you are right and they are wrong is a very irresponsible thing to do.
It's the same in our daily life. You need to learn to move backwards to be able to leap forward.
She will be back and set the record straight, and then get her career back as if nothing ever happened.
However, if she continued fighting, even if the antagonist later admit the FL is telling the truth, the way the FL acted will always be remembered and she won't recover her value.
Lastly, the FL acting "this is the truth" is what exactly the antagonist want to happen. She was counting on it. Unfortunately for her, the FL understands the value of retreating. If no one is listening, then it will only hurt her image more and it will also hurt her personally more.
Lice your wounds. Cool your head off. Then make a comeback.
The truth will always be revealed, it's just a matter of knowing the proper place and the proper time to reveal it.
Again, I'm assuming you're younger than me, so, welcome to real life. ^_^
I like how they slowly built up the curiosity of the audience as to what exactly is happening between the two…
Yep. With so many characters, they need time to establish them. That way once the meat of the story begins, they can focus on the seriousness and intense emotions, the conflict, and then later how each of them will come to terms of their differences and challenges.
The writer is doing great so far. Surely knows how to control the pace and build intensity. I hope they'll be able to keep that level to the end. There are a lot of things going on, and stories to tell, and they only have 8 episodes left. The skill of the writer and the director will be tested.
For anyone who doesn't know who Park Moon Soo is (in Ep 16 the finale):He is a real historical figure. He is a…
Hahaha. Yeah! It was an easter egg. It was a nice touch to sort of hint "unofficially" that The Matchmaker happened after the other shows regarding that inspector.
guys can someone confirm please... didnt we see in one of the previews of the first few eps, talking about doule…
There were a few. I remember seeing on a preview that the mother of the three sisters was against the ML and the FL being together, that they are not supposed to be otherwise some tragic event will happen. I've never seen that scene and that plot line.
It does seem that they changed the flow of the story as they were filming the episodes. It looks like they did a traditional filming wherein it's per episode. (The modern practice is to film all the scenes of the entire season and then arrange it into episodes later.)
Deep respect for the writer. A great writer knows how to disappoint themselves instead of giving in to what people…
Hopefully. But live-action adaptations oftentimes don't follow the original material. And in this particular story, they built the situation, emotions, and impact in a certain direction; if they suddenly made her return instead of reincarnating, it would suddenly become “just another typical romance show”.
Personally, I want to see her reincarnated, without memories of her past. It will be sad, yes, but at the same time, it will give a new set of emotions for the audience when the ML meets her reincarnation.
The FL's mother was either in charge of the divers when the ML's mother died, or, as the two buoys with nearly…
In addition to that, the show is about “being human”. That means, it is close to the reality than regular fiction.
The father acting that way is psychological, and one that has too many factors involved. It does happen in real life, a lot, and oftentimes, we dismiss it as “pathetic” when in reality, they actually need help.
In any case, to the OP, Aklima, search for my other replies, I explained in detail what I think is happening to the father.
I am bothered by something here out of ep 8. Did YP know about SD mom's heart conditions? When he made that call…
Yes. Let me explain.
1. It is not for the ML to reveal the truth to the FL. It is rude to reveal that information, especially a health condition.
2. The FL's mother probably made him (the ML) to promise to keep it a secret.
3. In the scene you are talking about, where he told the FL he doesn't know, he actually knew it. Watch that scene again and pay close attention to his face and eyes. That's the expression of someone who knows and is finding a way around the situation.
#2 is a bonus; but #1 is the primary reason, it is rude to reveal that information.
For example. What if it causes a family feud? That can happen, actually it does happen a lot in real life. Remember, this show is about “being human”.
However, at that moment when he was talking on the phone, he is free from any obligation to not mention it even in front of the FL because her life is at stake. And if #2 is correct, that he was made to promise to keep it a secret, then at that point during the phone call, he was also free of that obligation.
Lastly, when it comes to a person's health, be it positive or negative, there are laws that govern it. It doesn't matter if you are a doctor or not, a person's health is strictly protected by privacy laws in many countries.
During that phone conversation, he is no longer obligated to keep her health condition a secret. This is why during that scene, he was looking straight in the FL's eyes; because he knew she will “hate” (figuratively) him after that for not telling her the truth, and it is going to be an uphill battle to make her understand why he dodged the question.
Oh, one more thing. He doesn't want to not tell her. Again, he wants to, but it is not for him to reveal it. So, he suggested taking her mother to the doctor.
I'm assuming you've watched episode 8.First, I'm not defending him, I'm just going to explain the deeper meanings…
Let's go back to the father.
There is now a problem with the situation.
Remember, he cannot move on. And it was proven that he doesn't hate them, he was resentful, and they just happen to be the target.
Remember also that he was shocked and ran with the sisters when he realised what happened.
This is problematic. You see, for a person like him who got trapped in his brain's self-preservation mode, this will more likely lead to self-blame. The real person hiding behind from the real world is going to start thinking that the reason the FL's mother is now suffering was because he “secretly prayed” for them to die as well; even though he never did that.
This will further drive him to hide his true self inside. He will further shut the world. He will further hurt his son too (which they already hinted in the preview). Furthermore, he will start to spiral down into drunkenness.
At the same time, he will also tell himself that "I never asked for them to suffer" and "they deserve it" and "No, I only resented them, that's all, I don't hate them, they just remind me of the pain" and "Nah, they should die like my wife and because of what she did, why did they even dive that day".
Imagine what will that conflicting thoughts do to him; and how it can destroy his relationship with his son.
And since he is a traditional father also, when his son finally goes ballistic, he will also start to act and assert his status as his father. Not because he wants to rule over his son, like a tyrant king, no, rather, he can no longer think straight.
He is already denying the real world, and hiding from it, and now he will start to self-blame. A very bad combination.
Can the father free himself? Well, the K-drama will probably be able to. In real life, though? I don't know the statistics, but probably not.
---
Again, I am not defending the father nor am I justifying his actions. However, we should not forget that our experiences, our pain, our traditions, culture, and how we were raised and grew up, affects how we think (the human mind) and how our brain works.
Deep inside every human being, we all know that you, me, her, him, we all deserve to live a happy life. However, our complex emotions, our mind, our brain, can influence us and our relationships. The problems we face, the pain we experience, it can make or break us.
Sadly, some of us are strong enough to weather the storm; while some of us succumb to it. And those of the latter, some can get out of it later, unfortunately, some goes deeper into it and doesn't come out anymore.

English subtitles & Tagalog dub (which was good).
The plot is simple and straightforward.
Yes, he eventually fell in love with the woman after the suspect helped him moved on.
I highly recommend this!
If she ending is she's definitely not are agent of love, the would die soon. The way I see it, the only way she can live is if she herself is an agent of love, because then the curse of dying young would be cancelled because her new husband is an agent of love as well.

Or, I was mistaken. I dunno
Why even show it if it's not available anyway. LOL.
In other OTT platforms:
* Netflix won't show it at all if it's not available in your region.
* Viu won't even let you view the website.
IIRC, iQIYI and Disney+ are similar to Netflix, you'll only see what is available for your region.
But with Viki, you'll see it anyway, and once you try to watch, it's not available in your region. LOL.
They should also add a note that Viki is primarily servicing the West, and have very few shows available elsewhere. Hahaha.
Personally, I want to see her reincarnated, without memories of her past. It will be sad, yes, but at the same time, it will give a new set of emotions for the audience when the ML meets her reincarnation.
They can probably have an open ending too.

FL: "Have we met before?"

*Screen fades*
