40 mins into the last episode and I'm 100% sure now that a wicked witch placed a curse on the male lead his mouth…
Haha. There are really people like that.
I've had the opportunity to work with women, so the guy who obviously likes them became their boyfriend. Guys like that will never ever speak. The girl they like either has to make the move or lead them to it. They lasted years, some eventually broke up, some got married and raised a family. ^_^
It's annoying. But, it's either you waste the opportunity (they like each other anyway but our society expects men to make the move), or jump at it.
> Bora finds her shitty bf cheating on her and then begs him to take her back??
Because it happens in real life.
Your review says you've watched up to episode 14, so you should know by now what happened, and you should update your review to be fair. Or, change your review to state that you dropped it.
> none of the characters feel like real people
Wow. I guess many of us who went through the examples they portrayed, and how many of us acted similarly, were, quoting you, not “real people”.
> the best friend is mad at her husband for something serious and he buys her a purse and suddenly she wasn't mad anymore?? it's like a parody of how women behave.
You seriously have never been in a relationship? Even a guy would act similarly. It has nothing to do whatsoever with, quoting you, “parody of how women behave”.
> I went into this show very excited and it just completely makes no sense
Well, it won't make any sense if you haven't been in a long-term relationship, or a break-up of a long-term relationship at least twice.
Your reaction is very common when a person had every positive thing in their life, they fail to understand what other people feel, how they think and react, and what they do (or don't do). For example, people who grew up in a very loving family 99% have difficulty in understanding broken families (which many are). In the same way that people who haven't been in a long-term relationship, like the characters in this show, and then experiencing that long-term relationship breaks… you definitely will never understand anything about it.
My first love, it was 3 years. My most recent was 15 years. In between that, I've experienced being in relationship with clingy people. I've experienced begging. I did and said many of the stupid things Bora's ex did. I also experienced the other party begging me to love them again.
I've experienced “suddenly not mad anymore” after I was given a gift. I've experienced being the one who gave a gift and the other party is “suddenly not mad anymore”.
I am deeply sorry that the characters and plots sthey portrayed in this show were based on true-to-life experiences that you think are not “like real people”.
What I think for now : 2. The newspaper ended up on the ground when ML saved the bully girl (you can see something…
Those are very good points!
You know, now that you mention it, the time travelling car is probably a constant. In other time travel fiction, if a time travel device is first used to time travel, it becomes permanent. It will exist even if its invention/creation was prevented.
The idea is, a time travel device once used now exists outside of time. The ML's father could have invented the car sometime in the future. Now, he's going to see the car before he's supposed to invent it. There is no grandfather paradox because the machine is now a fix thing across time, it just exists.
Now instead of inventing it, he's fixing what he was supposed to invent. LOL. (I hope that makes sense.)
There was a scene in Episode 1 when the ML first travelled back to the past, a newspaper from the future lying besides the bully student girl while sitting near the edge of the mountain.
When ML saved them all, the newspaper headline changed to “town 5 years without crime”.
That scene is something.
1. Bully student girl read the newspaper 2. Someone left it there or gave it to her 3. Is that someone the previous owner/user of the time travelling car? 4. Who else is in 1987 that is aware of time travelling; or was not supposed to be there? 5. Could it be that, the serial killer is a time traveller too? The previous owner of the car?
Bad guys lose. But good guys don't win... And in the end we even see one of the good guys get assassinated?Kinda…
A spin-off is possible, but it won't be “FAMILY: The Unbreakable Bond”, because the Do Hoon and Yoo Ra story ended already.
* Yoo Ra listened to Do Hoon when he told her it is time for her to step back and let him handle it.
* Do Hoon accepted the offer given to him, and even resigned from the NSI.
They successfully protected their FAMILY. They are out of the assassination business. The mysterious master manipulator respects and honours the couple's decision, so they're no longer in his hitlist.
Their story ended.
The only way for the Union/MGD story can continue is by creating a spin-off with a different title. If they get Do Hoon and Yoo Ra involved again, they might as throw to the garbage “Season 1”, because all their effort to protect their FAMILY would go to waste.
They can't make Yoo Ra or Do Hoon break their deal. FAMILY first, remember? The couple will never do that.
The mysterious master manipulator can not break his own deal. For the little hints they gave us, this man is a man of principle. That's how he kept himself behind-the-scenes and survived and controlled everyone.
If they make these two parties break their agreement with each other, the entire “Season 1” will become useless and meaningless.
It's not. The show is about their FAMILY, so it ended with their FAMILY.
The secret organisation, NIS black-ops, and mysterious master manipulator behind-the-scenes, that is the side-story. That story is not the focus, thus it does not matter if there is a conclusion to that or not.
I like how it ended and where it led: FAMILY.This is not about the Union/MGD. It is about their FAMILY.--- and…
NOTE: I did not edit this. I just typed my thoughts, this is very raw, so sorry if it is confusing.
---
Also, whoever is pulling their strings, which I have no doubt was the same guy who controlled the Old Union behind-the-scenes, is the same guy running the NSI blackops of Director Oh, and who is probably that guy who is going to return to Korea via Japan.
But, you see, that's not important. It's about the FAMILY.
This mysterious master manipulator knows respect and honor. He made a deal with Do Hoon. He leaves, and their FAMILY will never be touched. And I think, they did not show this, that one decision why he resigned from the NSI was exactly that, their deal.
You see, if he remains with the NSI blackops, then he will still be answering to that mysterious master manipulator. Sooner or later, he will use Do Hoon, or if not, they'll end up crossing paths again. And, if this mysterious master manipulator is also the one controlling the Union, well, Yoo Ra will be involved as well.
Another thing. The New Union / MGD is no doubt the real target of that mysterious master manipulator. He did not like that someone is setting up a new Union, for whatever reason.
And since he did not make a deal with Uncle, and in reality, Uncle broke his promise, AND Uncle released the information of the MGD to Director Oh, he is no longer important.
Oh, the mysterious master manipulator is hunting the new Union / MGD, remember? Uncle is part of it, so of course, he is definitely in their hitlist.
But, it is not about them, it is about the FAMILY, and the choices they made to protect their FAMILY.
* Yoo Ra tried to attack the NSI blackops. The mysterious master manipulator of course did not like it. While it was a stalemate, that skirmish was Yoo Ra's win.
* Yoo Ra agreed it's time for her to stop. Of course, the mysterious master manipulator knew this. That he respected.
* Then Do Hoon came. And he offered him a chance and he took it. This, the mysterious master manipulator honoured.
That was why only Uncle was assassinated. The Do Hoon and Yoo Ra are no longer in their hitlist, and they both left that part of their lives behind. As long as the couple doesn't get involved with whatever business the mysterious master manipulator have, their FAMILY will not be touched.
Why didn't they shoot the wild dogs when their lives were obviously in danger?Even the Korean-American officer…
Regardless, when you're doing your job, and your life is clearly in danger… it's considered self-defence by local and international convention.
And in this case, at least as far as the scene is concerned, it qualifies.
Because if they apply “animal rights” or whatever, then the scene is implying that Korean police will choose “animal rights” over defending their own life. If that scene is correct or true-to-life, then everyone should get trained dogs and use them as shields against the Korean police.
Probably not. The moment they both saw each other in their scopes, they both understood and connected the little things they noticed with each other.
For example, Do Hoon disappearing or late/missing for their plans. Or, Yoo Ra's choice of handling the Café when she can do other jobs.
Also, when both of them saw the files of each other, confirming their suspicions, there was nothing else to talk about.
Secondly, they are not talking because they both knew they can't trust each other's words. The best way for them is to feel each other where they stand.
When a hit was sent to their home, that was when they knew they both stand for their family, not to whoever is pulling their strings.
Family first. They can trust each other. They both understood they have the same target: whoever is pulling their strings. After all, you need to cut the head to kill the body.
The Story is unfolding well, there are no holes as everyone is saying. This is a plot that will sit well for a…
Yeah, I hope there's a happy ending for them. They were all played and pitted against each other. Their true enemy is whoever is calling the shots in Oh's organisation and the new Union. It's starting to appear it's the same person or group of people in both.
I wonder if Chun Ho Jin waving was his own impromptu act. I had a very good laugh at that scene. Even the other actor (playing an adviser) was caught smiling, trying to stop himself from bursting. Glad they included that shot.
I mean, seriously, whenever I see such scenes in K-drama period dramas, I always imagine them waving. ROFL.

It's serious for those who experienced different types of break-ups.

And that is subjective. ;)
Those of us who understands the story can, maybe, explain those “plot holes”.
For example, personally, everything makes sense as of episode 11. Once episode 12 is out, we can complete the picture and be able to answer more.
^_^
Don't just say, “too many plot holes”. List those “plotholes” (in bullet format) so others can help explain.
Help us so we can help you.
For example, Do Hoon disappearing or late/missing for their plans. Or, Yoo Ra's choice of handling the Café when she can do other jobs.

However, we don't know what happened to her. It is safe to assume they were kidnapped or killed, hence, he was forced to hunt down people and Yoo Ra.
Notice how he acted with Yoo Ra's daughter, he kept on losing himself because he's seeing his daughter in her (or adopted daughter, we don't know).
I mean, seriously, whenever I see such scenes in K-drama period dramas, I always imagine them waving. ROFL.
